After replaying Arkham Knight, I started to appreciate Scarecrow a lot more. I wish more comic writers actually used him beyond his fear toxins.

I describe Scarecrow as the Anti Batman, while I do have Some Issues with Arkham Knight, I will admit I can see where they were going with Johnathan Crane.

Rocksteady’s decision to make Scarecrow the main villain of Arkham Knight was of the best decisions they ever made. Great video.

You know what's great about his demonstration at the start of Knight? If people stay, Batman will have to watch the people he protects suffer; but even if they leave its because they abandoned their trust in him out of purely natural fear he created. Either way, fear wins.

I'm pretty sure Arkham Asylum's Scarecrow was supposed to be similar to Freddy Krueger, the loud voice, the syringes on his fingers, the Nightmare sequences, everything just makes him seem like good ol' Freddy K, while the Knight version is more like how you'd imagine pure evil, a man who straight up broadcasts himself saying taht he's going to commit terrorism, before doing so, he even shows off his terrifying face(Just to know, that's not a mask, THAT IS HIS FACE!!!!), he wears dark clothes, and wears vials of his Toxin on his outfit, he speaks in a deep, menacing voice, making sure to show everyibe whag a TRUE nightmare looks like...

I do wish scarecrow posed more of a threat in arkham knight because the voice and presence is menacing but he was kinda sidelined

I really enjoy this scarecrow version. All scarecrow version was a peak villain top and a huge threat for Batman but this scarecrow felt almost horror vibe. Almost like a fromsoft boss with his design. I love it. I hope with injustice 3 they’ll bring this look for him. ❤❤❤❤

After Arkham City with Joker’s death, I wondered, who would be the next in line as THE main antagonist against Batman, and Scarecrow was the best choice Rocksteady made. Joker is still fighting Batman mentally but Scarecrow being the catalyst pushing Bruce’s insanity bringing Joker out was so good. Scarecrow is the perfect next villain to foil Batman because he’s not that different from him. If Batman is a symbol of Hope to the innocent, he’s also the symbol of Fear to the corrupt. He uses Fear to combat his foes and scare criminals, it becomes a straight mechanic with “Fear Takedowns”, and Scarecrow challenging that ability of Fear onto Gotham. What will make you truly scared is watching your unwavering Hero fall in fear themselves, that’s what Scarecrow wants. Testing him with everything from taking away Barbra and Robin, recruiting Jason who is his regret, and unintentionally reviving the Devil himself Joker. Fighting fire with fire, using the same fear Batman uses against criminals against him. And on Halloween at that. It’s so cool to see so an interesting take on a character, who was no more than a stepping stone to the real villains, finally take charge and doing actual damage was such good development. Arkham Knight Scarecrow is so cool

One thing I always found kinda interesting, is despite him claiming that he doesn’t care who Batman actually is, he’s still a bit taken aback when he finds out he’s Bruce Wayne.

Arkham Scarecrow is easily my favourite Batman villian and one of my favourite characters of all time, so glad more people are starting to recognise his awsomeness

I think its important to remember that crane is also a broken man who spent his entire life devoted to uncovering the human mind. Hes a licensed therapist, a position we usually associate with helping and understanding, but he uses this knowledge to hurt and hinder. And what I think makes him a great villian in arkham knight specifically is that he has someone to focus on. Before croc mauled him he just wanted to sow fear and chaos and the general public, but he blames batman for not saving him, giving him...a patient.

His voice changed because Croc ripped out most of his vocal cords at the Asylum and he was blaming Batman for not helping him when there wasn’t much he could do. He tried by throwing a batarang but it doesn’t do anything

He's not just my favorite Batman villain, he's my personal favorite villain of all time and I hate how he gets shafted as much as he does. I'm glad Arkham Knight gave him the main antagonist role he was long overdue for because of how he was the one who ended Batman's career in the Arkham Games.

Love Scarecrow. He’s my fav DC character & fav villain. Finally people appreciate him more in AK. If SS did one good thing, then that people start to play AK again. I wish Scarecrow got his own comic too, like Harley does. DC could make it more horror based.

Scarecrow is good in this game. I think had they made the 5th Batman movie Jeff Goldbloom or Nicholas Cage would have been better than Cillian Murphy whose Scarecrow was lacky for Ra's AlGoul.

Love seeing Dr. Crane getting the respect he so deserves. A villain since 1940 Scarecrow is without question one of the smartest villains in his Rouges Gallery. While he is often played off in a lame manner he seems to finally be getting the recognition and respect he deserves. From Batman TAS to the comics and movies I hope we continue to see him portrayed as one of the most dangerous and sociopathic villains there are. Everyone knows Joker, Penguin, Catwoman and Riddler then the second tier seems to be Two Face, Poison Ivy and Scarecrow. I consider Scarecrow as dangerous as the Joker. Both of them are psychopaths and murder anyone without mercy. There are si many great Scarecrow stories but still not enough. I am a bit disappointed with Matt Reeves and all this hype for a sequel to the first movie which now won’t be released till 2026. They have some major issues not yet leaked regarding these big overhyped plans Reeves has including the HBO/MAX Penguin series to movies highlighting villains such as Scarecrow, Professor Pig, Hugo Strange and Clayface. He has taken on more then he can handle and I see this new Batman evolution blowing up in our faces. Hope I’m wrong. But I doubt it. Anyways great video and tribute to my favorite Batman nemesis.

So just to be clear, between Asylum and Knight Scarecrow changes his character design, his voice actor, his whole persona and becomes obsessed with exposing Batman to the world. That is some glow up.... Jokes aside, even though I really like the idea of the character, for some reason he's always relegated to the role of a side-villain. Even in Arkham Knight where he is supposed to be the main villain he is overshadowed by the Joker. I think this is just because, as far as I know, he still hasn't received any kind of definite origin story ever since his first appearance in 1941. Because of that, he doesn't really have clearly defined motivations or personality. He's just the spooky halloween guy, who makes you hallucinate, which brings up another issue. Because of the nature of his ability, whenever he appears in stories the focus is not on him, but on the psychological struggles the characters face because of his toxin, thus making him inconsequential to the narrative, which is what happens all the time.

Yeah I love how they made scarecrow the main villain. I mean of all the villains he is high on the list of ones who can be main villains. Also in Arkham knight it perfectly represents scarecrow he’s not just his fear gas. He wants to learn, study, and master fear. He wants to kill the legend of the Batman to make the city of Gotham lose its hope.

I really like Scarecrow. He has been my most favorite Batman villain ( alongside Joker) since I was a kid. The thing I got to love scarecrow is the imaginext figure of him that came with Poison Ivy ( that was a 2 pack I got years ago ) I know it was ages 3 - 8, but I still enjoyed it because I am . I also been experiencing more of Scarecrow on how he uses fear itself to rue the world of gotham and of course Batman and his allies in trust. To my opinion, Scarecrow is an awesome super villain, not only of DC or Batman, but In Reality and will always be my favorite. Thank you for the video for describing more of Scarecrow.

I remember playing this game as a kid, before this I had played all of the games (arkham Origins is still underated), and nothing really scared me, which is saying a lot considering I was like 10. Scarecrow and Professor Pyg were something that disturbed me the most ever, that second one a bit more, but Scarecrow is still amazing, and in my eyes my personal favorite villain.

Honestly, Arkham Knight is my absolute favourite game in the Arkhamverse, as well as one of my favourite games period, and this portrayal of Scarecrow was a major contribution. In addition to the chilling baritone vocals provided by John Noble, he was a villain who was calculating, patient, sadistic, and very intelligent. So much so that he really got under Batman's skin, brought him down on his knees, and took away what made him a legend. Then came Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League and completely ignored all that

Scarecrow is my favorite as well. Every good villain in some way is a dark reflection of the hero. Scarecrow represents the fear aspect without the moral compass, Joker is chaos to Batman's sense of law and order, Ra's Al Ghul (another favorite of mine) is Law and order without the sense of compassion. Scarecrow also amplifies the horror aspect to the franchise, same as Man-Bat, as a horror fan, I can appreciate that. The Arkham series is the best portrayal of Scarecrow that I know of and I wish DC would utilize him more like this in the comics and movies. I do like his portrayal in Batman Begins and it would have been great if Nolan had used him more in the sequels.

Arkham Knight Scarecrow was my favorite version

scarecrow is amazing. really. but i loathed the main villain of arkham knight being 1. joker, 2. jason. and when scarecrow was given his ‘moment’ bruce over comes it with plot armour because the toxin affects joker’s blood instead(? he’s also the only joker infected to ever ‘over come’ it.. and at such convenient timing too 😐) anyway. another thing that bothered me was scarecrow’s ‘development’ in arkham knight. more so as in the fact that his interpersonal relationships with none of the other villains were delved into. Especially the arkham knight because there is a layer of respect, no matter how strained their relationship is, with jason approaching scarecrow first for his cooperation (as shown in the audio tapes) as well as his cloudburst, him respecting scarecrow by calling him ‘boss’ or ‘sir’ throughout the game, and even at the end when he had the opportunity to kill scarecrow, jason doesn’t. their relationship simply dissolves. the next relationship i wanted to see was him and the rogues, these are his colleagues that he’s been meticulously building a network with by trading his toxin - they don’t explore any of it at all. there’s a scene where he kidnaps tim drake yet harley is still left in her cell in the studios(?) why? i do love the details however, scarecrow was exposed and vulnerable in arkham asylum - where he was grabbed and then his body tore apart - in arkham knight he makes sure to NEVER leave himself vulnerable.

To be 100% honest I always preferred scarecrow adobe joker, I love Mark hamill and heath ledger performance, but I think it’s overrated af, and scarecrow and other villains underrated that usually don’t have the spotlight in media.

This is how Dr. Poison in the 2017 Wonder Woman film *should have* been portrayed as. Why didn't the filmmakers have Elena Anaya lean more into the more sinister and psychotic side of Isabel Maru? The side that sadistically relishes the horror and suffering that she inflicts or even the scientist that wishes to see their work fulfilled and is morbidly curious by their "tests" effects on others. Who doesn't see their victims as people but as objects and means to her own ends (both versions are how both Maru and Crane have been portrayed in comics in the past). Why they didn't do something this just like they had John Noble do with the more sinister and cunning side of Scarecrow in Arkham Knight is mindboggling. We could have a truly terrifying and memorable villain to contrast the stern and serious Ludendorff and the wild and boss battle Ares(Who should *NOT* have been killed off).

Scarecrow is just the most amazing villain. He don’t want to kill Batman, he want to break him, he want to prove to everyone that Batman is not a legend but a human like everyone and that he can succumb to his darkest fears.

This was the best version of the Scarecrow, and of course at the end he was beaten by Batman, but he did EXACTLY what he said he would do. The legend was destroyed. He won.

Honestly I'd say the best Batman villains are all tied for 1st place: Those being Two-Face, Joker, and Scarecrow, because they all represent an aspect of the Dark Knight. Technically all his villains do, but those three seem to be fascinated or relate to Batman

I am almost done with the game for the first time ever. Scarecrow in Arkham knight is a masterclass on how to write an imposing villain. John Noble was the perfect guy to cast in the role. He gave the character the gravitas it needed, although, I kept expecting him to talk about his dissapointing son Faramir every time he was being condescending to Batman. Like imagine that!
