Trust me United fans love him as one of our boys, but he just had a bad start with new managers as they try to force him into all kind of different positions. Behind the striker he is probably best, but there is bruno so the 4-2-3-1 is kind of a mismatch for him to be used correctly. But we as UTD fans know this, thats why we wanted him to stay in the transfer window despite some offers coming in. We love our boy, trust me on that

he's not fast, poor linkup play and not a good passer at all. He's most useful for the team when he's off the bench as an attacking midfielder or second striker, there's no need to make him the proper striker because his overall game is nowhere near Hojlund's

Because he's good at arriving late and scoring when he's not being picked up/surprising defenders. If he was the main striker, he might be easier to mark

He was a ST at youth team levels but as he grew he was pushed further deep for some reason and then Jose needed a DM and Scott was big strong and athletic which is something Jose values.

No? He may have incredible attacking sense as to where the ball will end up but that's about it, lacks a lot in all other departments apart from physicality and attacking positioning. Just continue to give him this bench role of ghosting into goalscoring positions

IMO if United are tied or down going into the final third of the game, mctominay should come on as a substitute rather than start.

And also the fact that when he is woth Hojlund, they complement each other. Hojlund is the one already in the box as the main striker. He distracts the defenders and creates soace for McSauce

He is a footballer perfectly designed for the bench. He is so good at what he does, but what he does is so specific that you don't want him on the pitch for the whole game.

Sub him on as a false 9 support striker if a late goal is needed. He doesn't really offer anything else, but that's a really useful tool to have when time is running out.
