It's documented, and proven, that an increasing number of sharks in the ocean has shown no increase in the number of shark attacks on humans; however, this same study shows that the increased number of shark attacks is directly related to the increased number of people now accessing the ocean.

Shark finning should be illegal all over the world. Shark fin soup literally has no flavor other than the seasoning added to the broth by the cook. The fin itself has no flavor at all & has the texture & appearance of rubber bands. Eating the fin is like chewing pieces of rubber band. The soup is strictly a status symbol.

It’s so ironic that the people who call themselves, “Shark Conservationists” are the same people who are establishing a learned behaviour of the sharks, identifying humans, as their food source. It takes very little time before more & more sharks learn to see humans as their natural prey. In the water, humans emit a particular electromagnetic pattern & heartbeat that is recognizable to a shark. If a shark with that learned behaviour happens to be swimming near an area of humans, that learned behaviour is still in the shark, & they go after what they now feel, is food.

In my mind adding new shark species to the endangered list is not solving the problem. The problem is industrial fishing with their huge factory ships. as long as industriel fishing is not banned world wide, the problem will not go away. In fact over the last decades it is only growing. And their would be a lot of benefits. Normal Fisherman would make more money due to educated fishing and most importantly the biggest supplier of plastic to the ocean, which is the fishing industry with their fishing nets, 50% of the plastic in the ocean is nets, would be gone. So in all to add species to the endangered list is important, but only for the goal to stop industrial fishing. And yes there is even more to that. A lot needs to be changed too, to ensure this goal.

Although the shark cage shown in this video would protect divers from very large sharks like Great Whites smaller extremely dangerous sharks would be able to fit through the large gaps in the bars. An unfortunate diver could find himself trapped in a cage with a bull shark, a Mako shark, a Oceanic Whitetip shark or a young Tiger shark. Those gaps between the bard have to be large so photographers can fit television cameras through them but they could also allow sharks in.

What I don’t understand why the researchers say the sharks are congregating in areas but they have no clue of what they are doing in those specific areas, breeding, mating or giving birth etc. My thoughts are They place camera traps all over the world that snap pictures or video when a certain size animal passes by the cameras or video areas. Some of these camera or video traps work for a year or more before they have to be checked and batteries replaced. Some of them are set up for the images to go right to a computer so the battery’s last even longer or they do not need batteries at all they use satellites. Why can’t they figure out how to set up these type of camera or video traps under water?? Just like the ones put in deep jungles and rain forest that get flooded all the time etc. Sometimes they catch nothing but sometimes they do!!! I remember some research was going on in Africa with camera traps because someone said they spotted a type of antelope that had thought to be extinct for more then 100 years. 1 scientist refused to give up and put up a bunch of camera traps, and checked them every 6 months or year. Years went by, but he refused to give up and for 8 years he saw no sign of the antelope at all. Till on the 8th year while checking his camera video traps on the computer a small 10 or 15 animal herd of the extinct antelopes came walking past. Now they are highly protected and are genetically helping them by using semen that was collected and saved from zoos. They have 3 wild herds now. If it was not for the tenacity of this one researcher these rare antelopes might really be extinct by now. With camera traps and video traps they may not learn why they are congregating in these different areas, BUT maybe just maybe they will. It may not happen over night but anything is possible.

It’s not mistaken identity. It’s low hanging fruit. More clumsy, slow, weak prey on the surface are being identified as good by the sharks. Also, massive fishing is also changing the availability of food. Animals are adapting to human contact. And it’s no surprise the strong and the swift are eating the weak and the slow. You wouldn’t swim with crocodiles in the Nile. Why would you swim with sharks? There’s been a lot more time for crocs to learn to eat people. More people in the water mean more time for sharks to learn about the new food.

Take any fin from a shark and it's design is changed, the fin doesn't grow back so you end up killing the shark becasue it can't swim. More of us are in the water, yes, but we still don't understand the ocean and we cannot go to the depths the animals can without much training and taking our own oxygen supply down. If we are to understand these creatures, we must overcome the barriers first and stop the methods of chumming.

Shark baiting isn't what's causing "more" shark attacks if that's what they're assuming. It's the steady influx of seals that are now protected which has seen a gigantic population growth which has contributed to a lot more to encounters with sharks, and seal hunting isn't just limited to the Great White which is the most well known seal hunter of the shark species. The seals like to stay and are now areas in which people like to swim and be around in and due to that sharks will now patrol these areas with greater integrity which would also of course potentially raise human to shark encounters even more so than before. This is because a steady strong supply of prey also benefits the predators whom feed on them.

Prove it. Lets look at the facts. Shark Baiting became a major money earning site seeing business. Shark attacks increased. No, it had nothing to do with making a link between people and food. You are an idiot. Sharks are not completely stupid animals and can figure out people mean food, so you get more and more interactions between sharks and people. This will go very bad for the sharks. Plus it is just plain stupid. You don't go food bait wild elephants or hipo, but it is ok to bait sharks? Again you are just an idiot.

Of course baiting sharks is teaching them to connect humans with food! BUT, tons of money is being made today in dozens of ocean resorts by baiting sharks and taking divers down in shark cages or even without! And as long as that much money is being made off of the practice, don't expect guests to be told the truth about it! We DO know also, that more pinnipeds are moving down south from the Arctic and other northern areas, partly because the ice floes they haul out on to rest are melting! (That's one reason why polar bears are starving and turning to predate on pets in settlements in the north and even children, if they can!) There are now pinniupeds from the Arctic, flocking to islands off the west coast of America, and on the east coast of America, down from the Labrador Sea all the way to the gulf of Mexico! The climate of Planet Earth has never ever been static! We've had many chages over millions of years -- floods, ice ages, droughts, huge volcanic activity, whole continents moving -- many changes over the 4, 1/2 billion years since Earth began!

A shark can smell a drop of blood from miles away, which makes them more aggressive because they think there is an easy prey and most people chum the water only a few miles away from land. But, yeah, white sharks do, in fact, remind me of dogs. Now, squids? That's another story altogether. Squids don't remind me of dogs...Not even a little bit. In fact, squids are so weird, they don't even remind me of squids. And I think that we ALL know that water bears are just microscopic sea cows. ANYTHING that humans do, that impact & more importantly, CHANGE the behavioural, mental, & physical states of ANY animal, should be banned & be punishable by law. I just watched a documentary about an idiot who used to be a Bull-Rider & then decided that swimming with sharks would give him a huge Adrenaline Boost. Then, he decided it would be a great money maker. Now, they bait/chum the entire surrounding waters & the divers go in. After years of this, sharks have learned how to pull the bait off the hooks & swim away. These guys pretend they aren’t baiting, but they actually are. Even if these tours stopped baiting & relied on the electromagnetic signals & heartbeats of the divers to attract the sharks, they are creating a situation where sharks learn the feel of humans & become drawn to them. This might seem okay when humans are in cages, but there are so many humans in the water in so many places. If any of the sharks nearby have the learned attraction to humans, then humans get hurt or die.

I wonder if this is a reaction to the cage diving 'shark tourism'...Is it stretching things too far to say that these sharks that are baited to come close to boats now have the association with boats and food, especially tuna which is one of their favourite foods?... there is also the agitation factor that stirs up and brings sharks close to boats to grab a bite of tuna... Are they being conditioned to associate boats - agitation and food.? Is that why they sometimes get aggressive around boats now?

Why doesn’t someone build a strong glass pier type structure that goes down 50-60 feet where people can walk and see the sharks in their natural habitat where it doesn’t effect the sharks and doesn’t hurt the sharks. Build it off the side of the edge of isle de Guadeloupe where it goes down and then when it gets to the ocean floor, build it 30-40 feet out so ppl can look at the sharks. Makes sense to me

Bs there's no comparison human & seal. I respect sharks we need sharks but one the ocean is their world and there apex predators. The ocean is there world and humans invaded it. . .😁

Feeding sharks is insane, they're primitive creatures that react to stimulus, especially hand feeding, their going to equate humans with food, some victims have their hands or arms bitten off, obviously it doesn't mean it's from feeding, but put it this way, it doesn't help.

The truth is very difficult to come to terms with sometimes and it is very simple. Sharks attack humans because they are territorial and don't like the way humans think they can own the oceans, yes, they do not want you swimming or surfing in their waters. It is exactly the same thing as if a stranger came into your house and claimed they owned it. What would you do in that situation?

So which one is it? White sharks have great eye sight and are intelligent animals? Or are they mistaking us, with 2 legs, 2 arms, and no whiskers for a big fat seal? I don't eat junk food, but once in a blue moon, I will. I think the sharks do the same and once in a blue moon they go for a Bristish guy or an American tourist.

So they keep talking about finning and killing sharks for their fins...I didn't hear one mention of who's driving the market. "International trade"...they're talking about China. They're comparing the finning of sharks for soup to Thanksgiving turkeys, which are farm grown.

If you put people in the water near sharks that have migrated back to their feeding frenzy or chumming, its natural Selection if you die. You had a choice not to go cagediving in busy water where the scientist chums to get a great white to be housebroken pets. Humans equal Dinner. And every year or every 2 years, those sharks migrate back to where they are fed. So the blame goes to the Humans, the scientist and fishermans that chum for tourism. My condolences to any humans that lost someone close

Those gaps between the bars have to be large so photographers can fit television cameras through them but they could also allow sharks in.
