Same.. I do not step in these waters, but when its now so plainly stated its pretty much not an argument anymore.

Star Citizens are just space monkeys, used for testing and it's not a complete game, far from it. Unfortunately testing takes priorities over polish/completed game loops etc. IMO, but it does hurt funding. Some don't realize how difficult it is to do both, while creating a game of this magnitude. CIG is doing what they can, to juggle both sides of the equation. Fun 4 players VS Testing. Many in the back seat say, "are we there yet ... are we there yet"

I can't believe I spent that much money on this game. And I haven't even been playing.

Yes, live is also a testing and development environment. I have been saying this from the beginning because people keep talking like it's purely a consumer product.

To be fair... CIG switches up their stance on this whenever they feel like. It's an Alpha when it's convenient and it's live service when they want to sell shit.

Honestly? Based. I'm critical af at times, but truth is when you look back at the full history of SC/S42 it's a pretty amazing accomplishment for both the games and the company to be where they're at now. There's a reason the project continues to draw more and more interest even 12 years after its inception, and it's not down to "predatory marketing" or "lies" like some people claim. It's an unprecedented experiment in almost every way, from the funding to the tech to the game itself, and the whole thing is almost impossibly ambitious. For all the noise, I think people genuinely appreciate that, and most are just happy to take the ride.

The most under sung factor for people worried about release is simple math. Look at 10% of SCs player base right now and imagine them subbing $10/mo. The potential revenue from the hype is already undeniable and no profit interested company would ever ignore it. If CIG went bankrupt today, investors would pick it up and make SC a reality no matter what.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. It would be a fire sale, but ultimately we would get some sort of game, even if it was not what was intended.

What I don't get sometimes from the community is that, they aren't exactly new. Its not like they don't know how it works. Backer to backer, when we say, 'well its an alpha' that's not being a CIG shill, the game is literally not made yet, why then they complain about the game...not being made. I don't get it. Its like we saying 'its an alpha' meant we are satisfied with the game, we aren't. Its just the fact of the matter. Why would it matter if its 2024 or 2077, what would it matter if its already took 10 years, if its not finished then its not finished...you can be mad at CIG for their Snail Pace, their overambitious goal, or whatever, it will be 120% warranted. I backed in 2015, got the starter half-priced, $22.5 and never spent a dime more. I've maybe only played about 100 hours all these years, occasionally checking in if something interesting happened and never did I treat this game any other than what it is, a game in development. They are the one treating the game as something that you could pick up daily, most even based their income from it with content creation and streaming, and they start to treat this game as something that it is not. Okay then, people are entitled to their opinion..but why the heck then I have to be berated when I remind people that it is a game in development. Now its like they got some enlightenment and want to spread the message to masses.

Yes 100% this. I have heard before some popular streamers say that because CIG charges money for it, they should not be judged the same way as other alpha's and I just dont get that.

Rich was the grease this games gears needed. I have no hate for Papi but i think his leadership methodology was definitely sucking the air out of the room towards the end of his stay. when i'm comparing the energy the teams have about their work, the devs seem way more motivated under Richard. I've personally always thought CIG's issue was management, not marketing or any other nebulous team, always management. Missed deadlines aren't uncommon at all, but nearly always come from placing bad dead lines and allocating too little work to them. Its usually an underestimation of whats required, the philosophy rich puts forward about "giving somebody 4 weeks will mean they take 4 weeks", is something that really resonates with me given my own experience in the workplace. CIG has always had an issue understanding that "completion is the enemy of perfection" and i'm pretty hopeful that Richard sees that issue based on what he's said so far.

I do not know how Papi was, but something has told me that he might have been well liked by the community, but he might not have been the best thing for the game. I rarely heard anyone say anything bad about him after he left, but I was just wondering that to myself.

@@CasaBLACK I don't have much bad to say about him, I did my own point a pretty big disservice if it came off as bad talking. I think he was just over-cautious and that vibe seemed to trickle down to those below him. Realistically in my mind star cit doesn't really have any bad devs or leadership I can think of by name. I do think however that since the layoffs the energy of the dev team is feeling way more positive and less averse to risk. I point the finger to leadership changes when things take a radical shift like it feels they're taking.

Come on man, the actual status cant be a released to LIVE. Too many bugs still here even with the latest patch hours ago. Just to name few, here are the persistent bugs I have since wave 3, making the game unreliable for a LIVE release. - Cargo : if you buy and sell, the next time you want to buy cargo the terminal tell u that ur ship is full then you cant buy anymore. Only solution is to reclaim the ship. - Gears : if you double lick on a gear you want to wear it just disappears in the void from ur inventory. - RMC : tried to buy at Dunboro, you cant buy anything as ur ships is not recognized. Anyway you cant buy anything at the 3 locations where you can get RMC. - Just did a 10 fps server and the nine tails react lots more aggressively in 3.23, thus overkill. Even with a silencer in my FS9 they all come to me no matter what. I had to stay in the entrance and crawl in order to complete the basic "defend occupants" mission on NB. I am level 4 on all planets in 3.22.1, was maxed out before 3.20, thus i have thousands of bunkers done. IMO level 2 or higher bunkers wont be doable without a team mate. Solo will be very very difficult. Just my 2 cents. When u r injured things goes weird, you are completely f* up. Even with a tier 1 injury on right hand I couldn't get in my ship via the ladder, fortunately I had a Titan and got in via the back. With the price of ship tripled and the payment for bunkers missions for example reduced by 33% ( 10K instead of 15K for lvl 1 bunker). Grinding money will be a hell. not mentioning salvage with the Reclaimer : construction mat has dropped from 6090 auec to ~1300 auec and the pay is only 30K instead of 250K for fracturing. - taking off and landing is peril : invisible objects will blow ur ships in several location. - dlss/fsr : With this activated the shop consoles are black ( 1080p upscale), only the CIG upscale works but very pool quality & perf compared to dlss. - and many more ... Great video btw.

Sorry mate, but obviously you don't have any experience with Project Management. You can have your project on time, on budget or on quality, but not all. On budget is mandatory in this financing model, and on quality is Christ Chris and Holy Rich's baseline, which is why we believe 😂 Given the size of and dependencies in this development, I find it quite arrogant to think this oversimplified "solution" in your mind could have done it all better or faster 😂 We, the backers back then, and I was one of them, decided in a vote that we wanted the game as we know it now. We pushed for all that with meeting those stretch goals. We wanted Star Citizen, not only Squadron 42 with some little multiplayer. Yes, I agree none of us could have come close to understand what it will take, but most of us had at least more realistic expectations than many of the "newcomer backers" that joined later. And I am not saying no mistakes were made, of course there were, we could talk for hours on that! But "learn as you go"? Mate, you are seriously misjudging the complexity and organization, just around this development. I know I sound like a White Knight, but I mean this not as "holy CIG" Fanboy BS, but as an IT professional who has experience with IT Production, Agile Development and Project Management upon other areas. Mate, love your vids, but your conclusion is the Dunning-Kruger effect in action, imho. 😂

I agree with you here and my explanation was more simplified than I would have liked, but I seriously think a better project manager earlier on could have made a difference here. I do not mean to make it sound like there was no direction and no project management going on, but for a project on this scale and for it to be a new company it would be hard to hire 100% top notch people and get it all right the first go. None of us know what mistakes were made internally and of course this video is speculative and opinionated as hell, but my over-arcing theme here was that I believe the game is in the best spot as far as having a good structure and work flow no matter what you call the position. I'm very happy with the current outlook. Thanks for the feedback. :)

There has been much talk in the past from players who say all of these issues the game has does not warrant the excuse to be its an alpha. They consider it a live game that is in early access and should be basically treated as a game thats almost live released. Its just a way for people to further criticize it and its long development.

I have been playing this game for almost 4 years. I have lost my mind, punched my chair, made up a new language, gave my monitor the finger… and other things. But as I have watched this cluster fuck happen and take form, I realized that we are playing a game while it is being built around us. I look at it like I’m watching tv in a house that is being built all around me. When I looked at it from that angle I realized that even though it has problems it is still with out a doubt the coolest space game ever made. I played starfield for like 4 hours and shelved it. Starfield sucks. Sorry to the famous but it does. I realize that it’s not like star citizen but it still honks the big one. 3.18 was way bad and affected my mental well being, hence making up a new language so I could say bad things around my daughter, please let it happen guys. But please don’t it let be a 3.18 mess.
