Information about TAMAKO MARKET and TAMAKO LOVE STORY (Source: Wikipedia):
Tamako Market is a Japanese anime television series produced by Kyoto Animation, directed by Naoko Yamada, and written by Reiko Yoshida. The series aired in Japan between January 10 and March 28, 2013. The anime has been licensed in North America by Sentai Filmworks. A film sequel, Tamako Love Story, premiered in Japan on April 26, 2014, paired with a short film titled Dera-chan of the Southern Islands.
Tamako Kitashirakawa is the eldest daughter of a family which runs the Tama-ya mochi shop in the Usagiyama Shopping District. One day, Tamako encounters a strange talking bird named Dera Mochimazzi who comes from a distant land searching for a wife for his country's prince. After becoming overweight from eating too much mochi, Dera ends up becoming a freeloader in Tamako's home. The series follows the everyday life of Tamako, her friends, family and neighbors, and this peculiar bird. As well as keeping track to the main course of events, Tamako Market and the following Tamako Love Story film cover the emotional lives of the characters, particularly Tamako's childhood friend Mochizō's crush on her and both of them being too shy to open up to each other.

A lot of people around me said this movie is boring. But I think what is great about this movie is that it’s the most realistic love story that normal people will experience. Not everyone’s love story is full of drama like we see in media, in fact it’s often really simple. This movie perfectly tell that simple story in a beautiful way

Tamako love story hits so hard the first time ive watch it and still does no matter how many times i rewatch it. Its one of those anime where it doesnt need a giant fandom like jojo or a giant reputation like one piece or demon slayer to be loved Which the movie ironicly goes back to what tamako said Its so small, yet it makes many kinds of people happy JUST LIKE A MOCHI

"She makes small feel big." You nailed it right on the head. KyoAni, and Naoko Yamada in particular, just manages to make the small things feel the most important. The smallest gestures (The famous Naoko Yamada leg shots) say SO MUCH without saying anything directly. Tamako Love Story is one of my favorite movies because it doesn't try to be more than it is. It's a simple love story that manages to evoke the most powerful emotions. Another great video!

It's unfortunate Yamada had to leave KyoAni in the aftermath of the 2019 arson incident.

I often go back and watch reviews or personal videos from other people of film media that I've watched in the past. I love to hear someone else's opinion on something I truly hold dear to my heart, that's why to me, your channel is such a nostalgia trip. It just always makes me want to re-watch these shows. Amazing! :) Can't wait for more.

I love this show because it further cements the tropes that make naoko yamada an excellent director. So much visual story telling and world building for a 12 episode show and short movie I can almost visit each individual shop in my mind. The episode in which midori gets sick is my favorite I love when she dedicates an epsidoe to building a side character through a small but real hardship, which she did in k on with grace. I don't recommend this to anime fans but to fans of film and directing its an excellent film study while also showing you how to write and animate realistic characters. Kanna was best girl

While I don't think it's a "perfect" love story, I cannot deny that it is an amazing love story. If you'd like my recommendations for what I feel are perfect love stories, then please watch Fruits Basket. I know you like to read manga, so I'd highly recommend Bloom Into You as it is short (45 chapters), and The Quintessential Quintuplets - even though the anime is almost done with it lol Great video, Kaze

In story telling the climax sometimes has the supporting character sacrificing themselves for the main character. In Tamako Love Story it was done beautifully when Midori sacrificed her feelings for Tamako's happiness. That's what love looks like. Special kudos to Rieko Yoshida who wrote the series and the movie. The director is always limited by the script. Yamada had the advantage of a strong script to direct.

Yeah, but don’t worry too much. The film can be watched as a standalone for the most part. Watching the series then benefits for added details, nuance and depth of a few characters, but the main conundrum between Mochizo and Tamako is essentially the same.
