The Boks have not played together in 2 years and rife with injuries, players overseas etc, this is the best chance the B&I Lions have ever had to win the series. As a South African, i really hope the Boks can pull together and get match fit to at least put on a show during this tour.

Did you notice the Springbok improvement from Test 1 to Test 2? That's with minimal match time. The Boks have injuries, so do the Lions, and with players playing over seas now being eligible to play for the Boks they see the Lions players play every week, indeed play alongside them. They have an insight into how they play.

0:01 I dont see the Lions as underdogs. Thats like saying if you take Springboks, Australia and the All Blacks' best players and make a team they will be somehow worse than the original Countries team. Me personally have always viewed the B&I Lions as the Ultimate Goliath team from up North. And the Southern Hemisphere teams as Divid. It sometimez feels like the Lions even have more people in the stadium aswell 😁

I think people tend to have them down as underdogs because they are a bunch of guys who aren't used to playing together. Gelling as a team is important and it's difficult to do in the space of time they have before the tests. I don't think they can rely on that as an excuse this year, however, with the saffers not having played together either since the WC final in 2019!

Lions are almost always underdogs. The reason for that is mashing together players that don't play together on the international level, they haven't had the same time to develop chemistry which you NEED to have to win at this level. Now with this tour it's a bit different as SA also haven't had time to hone that chemistry. So will be interesting to sse

This Tour will be atrocious without fans in the stadium. Only reason it's even going ahead is to salvage broadcast money. Tour should've been rescheduled for November. It'd be the SA summer and European mid season. It would've also gave the Boks a chance to host or go to a tour and play 3-5 test matches BEFORE the tour. Where have you heard of a tier 1 nation not playing a single rugby game in 2 years and boom, Lions Tour!! Rugby has been going the same path as football for quite some time. The B&I Lions are best out of 4 of the top 8 teams in the world, have more players and money than SA, so the notion that they are the underdogs is not really valid. Yes, the Boks play at home therefore it's always an equally matched affair. The main reason the Boks lost the '97 tour was because at the time there was no recognized place kicker in the team. They fixed that 12 years later, and the kicker will also be the difference in 2021. They play traditionally two very different styles of rugby and that is way it is always such an occasion.

Such a big difference in attitude. The Springboks play for the love of the game, and they play for their country. The minute they put on that jersey it's no longer about them. Its about an ideal and that is what they represent and those guys are willing to die for that ideal. So different from these people talking about wanting respect etc. They obviously play the game for themselves, and that will always be the difference between the Springboks and other teams. Doesn't inherently make the Springboks better or anything, but I just realized these Northerners really don't understand SA rugby at all.

Give me 20 divisions American soldiers and I will breach Europe. Give me 15 consisting of Englishmen, and I will advance to the borders of Berlin. Give me two divisions of those marvellous fighting Boers (Meaning Farmer, originating from the Boer War) and I will remove Germany from the face of the earth." Field Marshal Bernard L. Montgomery, Commander of the Allled forces during WWII. "The Americans fight for a free world, the English mostly for honour and glory and medals, the French and Canadians decide too late that they have to participate. The Italians are too scared to fight; the Russians have no choice. The Germans for the Fatherland. The Boers? Those sons of bitches fight for the hell of it." American General, George "Guts and Glory" Patton "Take a community of Dutchmen of the type of those who defended themselves for fifty years against all the power of Spain at a time when Spain was the greatest power in the world. Intermix with them a strain of those inflexible French Huguenots, who gave up their name and left their country forever at the time of the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. The product must obviously be one of the most rugged, virile, unconquerable races ever seen upon the face of the earth. Take these formidable people and train them for seven generations in constant warfare against savage men and ferocious beasts, in circumstances in which no weakling could survive; place them so that they acquire skill with weapons and in horsemanship, give them a country which is eminently suited to the tactics of the huntsman, the marksman and the rider. Then, finally, put a fine temper upon their military qualities by a dour fatalistic Old Testament religion and an ardent and consuming patriotism. Combine all these qualities and all these impulses in one individual and you have the modern Boer." Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Good luck Lions.

The Hobbits are going to be crushed by the Giants especially in the scrums and line outs. Strength, height, ability and weight are in favour of the Bok tight five. It will be a threefold repetition of the 2019 WC Final. The Hobbits are also weak at No's 9,10, 12 and 13. Even at No's 6,7 and 8 the Boks have an advantage with Duane Vermeulen, PS Du Toit, Marcel Coetzee, Jasper Wiese, the Du Preez Brothers etc as long as they don't select Kolisi. The Hobbits will fight bravely (like lions) but all will be in vain. There is also not enough depth in the Hobbit Squad to replace injured key players which is almost certain to happen. Farrell and Itoge are walking penalties and possible yellow and red card candidates. Gatland is a has been and lacks self confidence given his recent poor record with the Chiefs etc. Adopting an expansive game with mobile Hobbit Loose Forwards will play directly into the Boks defensive and counter attacking pattern of play. The Boks are improving under Rassie and Nienaber and are still far from reaching their true potential notwithstanding their 2019 WC Final performance. The Boks have tremendous depth in all positions and a better by far halfback combination in FAF and Pollard. Pollard is totally underrated on the international scene and by regularly crossing the advantage line will cause the Hobbits all sorts of problems. There is also no Hobbit who can compete with Damian Allende in midfield. Alun Wyn Jones is too long in the tooth and will struggle against Etsebeth, RG Snyman, Lood de Jaar etc, especially in the line outs. The following predictions are already cast in stone and no crystal ball is required: First Test Boks 32 Hobbits 19 Second Test Boks 27 Hobbits 19 Third Test Boks 2nd Team 21 Hobbits 19

You could be right. Just a detail. Are you counting on Snyman? He has only played 7 minutes before getting injured in his first game for Munster. He is apparently close to fitness but not match fitness.

They are not going to try match the Boks physically. Every team that tries that comes short. They going to use speed and run around our big men. Its what NZ used to always do when they domintated SA games. Big strong guys move slow. Predicting very high paced games from the Lions.

@@Blindside_Flanker valid but our conditioning coach has made the bok squad super lean wthout loosing any of their strength. we have rapid wingers as first second and third selections. should be a great matchup tho. after their first warmup game against the golden lions i do believe the lions need to work on set piece and dicsipline because currently those are their biggest weaknesses imo. springboks will also slow the pace down using their physical presence. i think the lions might play a game that limits set piece as much as possible like japan did in the quarter final so that the boks don't have a chance to dominate in these areas. however, i'm speculating but really looking forward to the est series. also i just want to say the guy that made the origional comment knows nothing about modern rugby and we don't claim him. also probs racist judging by his comments and the way he speaks.

not really a rugby tournament of great attention in honesty. More a trip to be insulted by official bias and , hurt in and on off the ball aggression. The game and its reputation is irrelevant in South African rugby. shame as it hides the few gifted players they do have.

Do we really have to keep digging up Geech every 4 years? The bloke is clueless about modern rugby. I understand the emotional side of things but it’s the same with Clive Woodward, they don’t offer any insight into the modern game.
