Why the McDonald's Mascot Became A Nightmare

Күн бұрынRonald McDonald disappeared from the McDonald's brand for a while, which led to a newcomer: Happy, the talking Happy Meal box. The design is one of nightmares and is surprisingly annoying. Why did Ronald McDonald fade away? What made the corporation switch mascots?
Happy has been seen in more than a few McDonald's Happy Meal ads such as Mario Kart, The Smurfs, SpongeBob SquarePants, Angry Birds, Shrek, and... the Minions. On that note, he seems like a clone of Despicable Me's Minions, which could give us a clue on why he became the newest McDonald's mascot...

I think the premise of Happy could’ve worked with a better design. Like, maybe have his entire face on the front of the box, so he doesn’t have his eyes bulging from the top, and no realistic teeth.

Exactly- all they had to do was take the normal red Happy meal box and add dot eyes to the already-present simplistic smile. But no, they had to make it worse than an Eldritch horror.

I honestly loved Ronald McDonald as a child, and thought it would be so cool to meet him in person. Then became disappointed when I figured it out that Ronald wasn't actually a real person and just an actor on a clown costume instead of the actual owner of McDonald's.

My friend and I were just talking about this the other day, wondering if they'd officially gotten rid of Ronald or not. I really miss him, he was such as iconic and likeable mascot. And I get that clowns can be scary (I personally love them but that's just me), but hell even as far as clown designs go his is REALLY tame and simple. Hardly scary at all, at least once they refined him. I'm just glad he at least still makes appearances sometimes, he doesn't deserve to be wiped away completely.

Happy looks more like he keeps and eats children in his basement than Ronald McDonald ever did You can take Ronald seriously because some children are afraid of him, people distrust him. Ronald is a great guy and understands not every kid vibes with him, he respectfully gives them space. Happy as an apex predator has evolved to lure in his prey. He has the front facing eyes of a hunter scavenger.

I always thought modern Ronald was the least creepy clown in existence, so it's kind of funny to me if they said, "Hm, people fear clowns, so let's take the least threatening clown to ever live and replace him with a box that has a gaping mouth filled with human teeth and eyes that can stare straight into your soul and weigh your sins. In my old elementary school, we use to get visits from Ronald Mcdonald annually. One year, everyone stopped talking about his next arrival and he never came back since. Now I know why;-;.

I feel like Happy honestly did more damage to the McDonalds brand than Ronald ever could. While I was neutral towards Ronald, I remember always hating Happy and then associating that hate with McDonald's as a whole. I didn't even want to take a look inside of a McDonald's, for fear of gazing upon that wretched creature.

Fun fact about McDonald’s: In Europe, McDonald’s stores will sometimes have green branding instead of red, although red and green are both used in the UK.

Ronald never scares me, neither does Happy. I don't even have nightmares of him. I wish they could bring Ronald back. I've never met him in real life, but to me, he's a great friend. Like Steve from "Blue's Clues." I also wish they could continue his animated series. "The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald" was a great series. It had such awesome songs! Even though Ronald's not shown on TV so much anymore, I'll still remember his smile. 😊😁

Actually, Happy was created back in 2009 for international markets, 1 year before the Minions were fully introduced. It wasn't until 2014 when they finally made their American debut.

Back in 2011-2012 the happy meal toys were these red mascot toys. I had one of them, they made the laughing sound whenever you press the button or something. It was really uncanny

In Canada when Ronald went out we never got happy we just went right to the " fancy stage " in McDonald's.

I didnt realise Ronald was gone, until ive got an ad just recently. I new that that there was a new mascot that represented a happymeal, idrc at the time- but i didnt realise they deleted poor Ronald after clown sightings??

All I can think of is that meme of the happy meal with Happy's face in a tree smiling down at the camera in the dead of night with the caption stating something like "I was on a walk when I looked up and screamed." While I cannot find it, I still chuckle occasionally, thinking about it. While indeed creepy, if this never existed, then I would never get my free dose of serotonin when feeling down.

I can think of multiple comments for this video lol so i mixed them together here: the reason why ronald mcdonald left mcdonalds was so he could join the rivals of aether workshop as an OP character multiple years later. mcdonalds was going dark mode, just like some other things like discord. 2:23 patrick is our hero 3:21 powerpuff happy isnt real, they cant hurt you powerpuff happy:
