A Video Essay about The Witcher on Netflix and why it's ACTUALLY Pretentious...
After watching The Witcher Season 3 on Netflix (or at least volume 1 of the Witcher Season 3) I've concluded that the show is not only pretentious, but guilty of copying stylistic choices made by better directors, such as Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan.
By Comparing The Witcher's first season to Quentin Tarantino's film Pulp Fiction, and The Witcher's cliffhanger ending to Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk, we can hopefully explore why this Netflix show just doesn't seem to know what to do with itself.
I'm not trying to hate on this series, as I've enjoyed my time with it up until now -- though I must admit Henry Cavil stepping down from the role of Geralt of Rivia is a HUGE bummer -- but I've just noticed some fundamental flaws that I'm excited to discuss.
Is there hope for Netflix's The Witcher? Or is it destined to be out of touch with its audience FORVERER dramatic echo
