In the garden of the Château de Vaux-Le-Vicomte near Paris, guests can take a journey through time. They spend the day in historical costumes picnicking in the castle garden, as was the custom under King Louis XIV.

They don't want to live in 17th century France. What they want is to be rich in the 17th century. Which shows us that the life of a rich person three centuries ago are still better than the lived of poor people today. Given me the option I would chose to be rich today... and I have the feeling that so would these people.

I disagree. I think people long for quiet and simplicity. There are parts of the world that I have visited that people in the US would not be able to deal with or be unreasonably sad because they don't have wealth or technology but the people that live there are just fine.

So you can't appreciate anything from the past? What about art and music? Do you listen to Mozart, or is that too "rich person" for you? Fashion is a form of art, just like music, let them appreciate ART.

Yea exactly man. I have always been fascinated with Roman history from the beginning to the end. Does it mean anything no. I will say that older centuries perhaps were more exciting be our ancestors were able to discover new places and the earth more. Whereas today there are really no new lands to be conquered. Space would be the next exploration age.
