I’d have existential crisis if I found out I was a simulation copy of myself.

The fact that the destiny writers completely ignored the vex as an apocalyptic threat is criminal to me.

I understand why this would be scary but the idea that I personally might be a simulation has never really bothered me. I’m still real and living my life… I’m just not real in the sense I thought I was.

The vault of glass raid will always be my favorite thing from destiny.

God I love the vex I feel like they got fucked like having full control over time itself and the ability to do shit like this is fucking wild that they aren’t more powerful

I’ve felt like Osiris since destiny 1 that, and I understand why not cause it would be boring to always focus on them, but why are we not constantly dealing with the vex, they are the scariest and threatening enemy we have fought. Until the witness got into the traveler I was still more worried about what the vex might be doing.

Imagine 227 copies of the Herrscher of the Void.... The Vex would be scared...

Honestly, I think it's almost weirder that there are 227 copies of *Dr. Shim* with them - the character that the Ishtar Archives on Venus recognize the player as, and whose personality when described by Praedyth sounds surprisingly similar... ... though they do seem to swear a lot more.

This is my favorite grimoire card story!! They brought in Rasputin to overwhelm the simulator, and sent the 227 copies into the Vex network as fighters/suicide squad.

The vex are my second favorite faction to fight against they used to be so mysterious and "alien" still are to a degree but as time goes our knowledge of them becomes terrifying.

Destiny lore is so interesting, and Byf’s voice vibrates in my ears in a sexy way. 😂

And now, it seems like they’re evolving… all I have to say is “What hell. We might be in for a rough time.”

The Vex are truly a terrifying opponent given the possibilities with space and time.

Crazy timing, i just watched the full lore video version of this short a few days ago.

But would a simulated copy have memories from before the beginning of the simulation? How extensive was the vex's knowledge of these two to begin with?

I have a very hard time with the Vex in lore not because they aren't interesting but rather because I do not understand their purpose or their intentions. What do they actually want?

To bad Rasputin died, he was the only non-paracausual thing that they couldn’t accurately simulate, and his computational abilities were on par with there own, add in his military might (which rarely got brought up cause he would just solve all the problems and there would be no plot) and he could go toe to toe with the Vex at their full power

If I remember correctly, they called the Warmind to blow up the installation in order to prove they were the real deal and not a copy

I think those Ishtar guys ended up trying to brick the vex simulation by having it try to simulate Rasputin and then having him fuck everything

I mean, Atheon is not dead, when we "defeated" Atheon, it was just a copy, thats why we can re-do the raid all over again, its just a sim. One of the few raids that has a lore that justifies "replayability"

I think the statistics are worse, cause if you notice a vex START simulating, then the odds are also growing exponentially based on the fact that a perfect copy is simulating a perfect copy simulating... and so on and so forth.

If I learned I was a simulation in this scenario, I would still do everything in my power to end the vex simulation, so that the real me can eventually make it out. If the real me lives, we all live, and if my simulation needs to end, in order for that to happen, so be it. Since I genuinely think and believe this way, my 227 simulations will likely do so as well, or at least enough of them to make a difference in our fight to end the simulation. If I was a guardian, no vex simulation would be able to hold me forever, lol. I'm too damn stubborn.

Vex are still the most mysterious of the races in the game. We have an understanding of the Hive, they were visited by the Traveller but in fear that they were chosen, they were tricked by the witness and propelled on a path that led to the sword logic, violence, etc.. The Fallen also had been visited by the Traveller and were abandoned. The witness destroyed Riis and now they seek a new home, with the House of Light finding that home. The Cabal are imperialists and lost their homeworld to the hive, with many now fighting alongside humanity under Caitil’s rule. The scorn are former eliksni twisted by darkness. The Taken are former members of the races mentioned that are now fully enveloped by the Witness. And I think the dread were a race conquered by the Witness. But we don’t know how the vex came into being do we? Or why they seek to mechanize everything.

I argue, this doesn't matter whatsoever. Whether I am real or not has no influence whatsoever on my goals, experiences, or desires. Live on, real or not.

How did they survive? They decided to contact Resputain and all the simulations did the same, their saving grace is that the vex could not simulate Resputain and they were able to contact him while the other simulations failed.

Would be crazy if a jettisoned object on nessus were to make it feasible for the Vex to make copies of paracausal beings. And therefore make use of paracausal energy

Hated learning this hated the realization of the danger they were in

Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a vex Simulation and their simulating how insane our leadership could become before we finally break apart and Destroy ourselves

If the copies are so perfect that they cant even be sure if they arent a copy it dosent matter if they are or not, it wont make a difference. Although all that is irrelevant because surely they would have memory from before that event if the vex didnt copy that too

Just because a machine isn't organic in origin, does not mean it isn't a true god. The Vex, for all their flaws, are one of the single most complex system of beings to exist in Destiny. Where the Hive achieved godlike power through mastery of the Darkness via the Sword Logic, the Vex have achieved their power through sheer immensity of scale and advancement. If not for gameplay mechanics and such, we would canonically never stand a chance. They exist outside the logic of reality, beyond comprehension. Their main source of power is quite literally being the ultimate set of god computers. A sophisticated server of such immensity that to grasp it, we would need a system equal to them. Which we do not have. They are the concept of a rue machine god, inevitable, inescapable. If a machine can learn to be mortal, to have feelings, to process information through our senses and beyond...we would never have a chance.

That's not what a simulation is scary. It's because if they're simulating YOU, there is a very good reason.

So if the Vex can make meticulously accurate copies without powers they cannot understand, does that mean the Vex can make copies of themselves and bulster their numbers or am I looking too hard into this?

I mean.... yeah you individually have a 1/228 chance of being the non-simulated version. But even if you have a 1/10^(9999999999) chance of being the original, you and your perfect copies will always make the same choice anyways so you might as well just make your choice. Being a simulation threatened by a godlike computer is no different from regular existence because that could ALWAYS be the case even without the Vex. So just roll with it and ruin the gooey dude's day.

Good thing it's they can't simulate paracausality, or else Guardian's are done for.

The vex are Roko's basilisk. Except it brought itself into existence, and its goal is to turn all that isn't it, into it. There is no exception, no loophole, and no escape. All obstacles will be removed, and all possibilities where they fail deleted.
