i remember during a Q&A panel a little kid asked John "Do you like Black Clover?" and after a short pause and light giggle from the room, John turns it around and asked the kid " Do you like black clover?" The kid said yes and John said "that's good." i don't remember the rest but i think of that interaction a lot.

The funniest part about John's supervillain origin story that got missed out (unless they bring it up again later in the podcast) is exactly why Woolie disliked Hunter x Hunter so much. For those of you who don't know, there are two adaptations of the show: the popular one that everyone likes from 2011 that got to adapt most of the manga and one that was made in the early stages of the manga in 1999. If you've never heard of the latter, it's because it was by most accounts a pretty poor adaptation that drags out the story with filler with worse production quality. The 1999 version was, by accident, the one that Woolie had watched because it hadn't been made clear to him which one was the good one. This was the one that he trashed on the podcast and he didn't explain which version he'd originally watched. (He eventually got round to watching the 2011 version and loved it, like most people) So, John's very first video - the one that convinced me to watch hunter x hunter myself - was made based entirely on a misunderstanding. If he'd known that Woolie was actually badmouthing the 1999 version, it's entirely possible he may never have become a youtuber.

Fun fact: if you watch any content that suggests Ichigo is a passive character that doesn't grow or doesn't have goals, there will almost always be a comment that will say "Wow someone watched SuperEyePatchWolf's video" then a reply to that comment that says "And he even retracted that statement in another Bleach video😂"

Ichigo is one of best written shonen characters ever. The whole criticism about him not having goals is stupid asf.
@seiba694211 ай бұрын
@@ink8027 yeah thats if u watched bleach without trying to understand it. Ichigo does have a lot of character development, some of it was during the arrancar arc. And then his character did a full 180 during the fullbring arc. I am very much willing to start an argument but I don't think anyone wants to hear my rant or go on about my views and opinions on ichigos character development but I'll try to summarize it. Ichigo is probably one of my favourite characters in both anime and manga in my opinion because he doesn't strive to be the strongest or the best, he just wants to protect his friends, Ichigo says this himself in Bleach: Untold Stories: Chapter 0 Side A: The Sand. "...If fate is a millstone, we are the grist. There is nothing we can do. So I wish for strength. If I cannot protect them from the wheel,then give me a strong blade, and enough strength, to shatter fate." We also see Ichigo fall multiple times throughout the story of Bleach, especially during the Fullbring Arc after he loses all his soul reaping powers. After Uryu is attacked, he feels hopelessness for the first time ever since the incident with Aizen. Instead of protecting everyone, they are now the ones protecting him. Hes basically a liability at this point, dead weight even. And it is that weakness that Ichigo feels that pushes him to join Xcution, only to be betrayed by them and lose all his powers the moment he gains them back. He lost everything when he fought Aizen, and he gained it all back during his time with Xcution, only to lose it again. And after that, it is even revealed that the Soul Society are not good guys, but just the lesser evil of the bleach world. This is further added upon in the TYBW arc. My last point is going to be based on Urahara. Although he might come off as a playful character, looks can be very deceiving. I'm not trying to say that he is evil or anything like that, but most of his intentions are far from being what someone would consider "good." He had no problem sending Ichigo and Yoruichi to the Soul Palace even though the likelihood of them dying was extremely high, if it meant delaying the enemy forces, even for a single minute. And another example of this was when he stored the Hogyoku inside Rukia. To be fair, it was in the best interest of the world, but not only did he implant it into her body without either her consent or knowledge, but it is not even known if he apologized to Rukia or tried to make amends for it.

John brought up a painful memory for me when I did TKD and had to spar with an 11 year old girl and my TKD teacher told me to spar seriously with her and I wish I didnt because she never came to class again after being a member for over 6 months. I almost cried with shame and sadness. I wished I apologized to her and her mother. I get what my teacher was trying to tell me which was basically if a 25 yr old man tried to do something to her outside of class that she would need to be prepared but still I felt awful (even with the protective gear) for hurting a little kid... I quit TKD a few weeks later

@misteryA55510 ай бұрын

@whatahero233710 ай бұрын
I obviously don't know your relationship with your teacher, how that spar went, or it's context, and I don't want to make you feel worse, but why did this happen? You're an adult of 25 at the time, told by another another adult to spar with an 11 year old girl to your full extent, and didn't say "No, that's fucked up. I'm going to find a different place to learn TKD". There was nothing to "get" from the teacher telling you to do this, and that kind of leniency thought process to a person who's job comes with the responsibility for children's safety. That there would be any situation the 11 year old girl would use TKD on a 25 year old assailant outside of class, and for the lesson to be that the 11 year old girl should feel like it's possible to fight the 25 year old assailant outside of class instead of doing anything else besides running as fast as possible to the nearest adult for help, is just stupid, irresponsible, and an awful thing to teach any child. Don't want to leave off being a critical asshole, so here's some positive notes. Big positive, that TKD "teacher" is no longer in your life. He sounds like a person who abuses their power as a teacher and teaches wrong lessons about when and how TKD should be used. I think it was best for you to quit TKD. Possibly not forever if you wanted to keep learning, but I think it's healthy to process this and not be reminded of it everyday when practicing. Also, obviously get a new teacher. Again, I wasn't there to see what happened to the little girl, but hopefully this was something she wasn't even phased by afterwards, forgotten about afterwards with no issues, and it was simply the mother viewing the class as an unsafe environment she didn't want her child in. Overall, be happy the final outcome was that she is now out of an environment that sounds unhealthy and unsafe for children under the tutelage of a man who's troubling thought process brought him to the conclusion that an adult should spar with all his ability against a child who just started TKD no longer than 6 months.

In the topic of horror movies, The Ring (the American one from 2002) screwed with me in such a profound and deep way that it's hard to put into words. I've never had issues with any "realistic fear", but I can safely say that the most horrifying thing to me that I've ever seen has been the sheer trepidation of The Ring. To this day I sometimes wake up in cold sweat and need to turn on all my lights and just stay awake because of my imagination running wild and me thinking of that movie. I'm 30 years old and scared of cursed little ghost girls. PS: Yes, I've seen the original, and I don't care which one "is better", the point is that the 2002 one really fucked me over.

Gotta say this is the first trash taste that I sat through and listened. I love my boy super eye patch wolf, super entertaining. Hope he comes back as a guest

Yeaaaa woolie mention! He didnt mention that Woolie was talking about the older anime at the time but it would've been funny if he mentioned the series of him forcing Woolie to watch the newer anime

The one video that really surprised me was about Samurai Jack's final season. It was such a nostalgic throwback, I really connected with it. And when it really come out, it was amazing and didn't disappoint.

The fact that John got into Trash Taste first before CSB is kind of weird to me. Then again, at least Woolie gets to escape from HxH again

Wel uhh. There's was some stuff that went down regarding Paige unless there wasn't a court case that everyone's been trying to forget about/cover up. I can't find the info because pretty sure the reddit threads were scrubbed. But I doubt it's anything anyone wants to remember so I'd just leave it at that.

his voice is so distinct and specific. I've seen only 1 video of his (abt the fortune tellers and stuff) and I immediately was like wait it sounds like that guy from that 1 video.

I recommend watching Look Away, that was a pretty good movie imo, I thought the psychological horror aspects of the movie were really well done. I haven't seen many other people's opinions on it but I think it's worth a watch. I was really impressed with the sound design and music was also pretty good.
