I'm someone like Connor, who's never consumed music as anything more than "beeps and boops". Over the past year, I've been perceiving more and more media and understanding that no matter through whatever means, the end goal is to portray a story, only I've consumed it through wrestling, where I ONLY watch wrestling for its stories, not the actual wrestling. And that's really what i feel the boys are split on. Joey likes to understand the song for its story as well as the music, while the other 2 wanna listen to music as it is, without the story.

Please read Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous), the manga just finished a couple of days ago after several hiatuses and it easily became one of my favorite works of all time. I even dare to say it's main character and story arcs are comparable to Attack on Titan (which is probably my No.1), going through many shifts and changes along the way. There might not be as many plot twists and action heavy battle scenes, but the emotional journey is like no other I've seen before. Not to mention the beautiful art, especially in later chapters that perfectly fits the mystical and alien world of the Gems.

I vibe with Garnt's take about consuming trash content. I've had discussions about this over a dozen times and I always link a video by James Hoffman titled "What No One Tells You About Learning To Taste". It's about coffee tasting but it is so incredibly accurate when you apply all the points he makes to consuming anime. There's several points he makes that I wont harp on but when I watch nothing but shows that I personally consider top tier I kind of become too persnickety or throw off my enjoyment ability. It's like if you were to eat nothing but fine dining and set your expectations too high onward to the point where you lose the ability to appreciate meals that are lesser than what you're used to. Once in a while you gotta reset your palate with a crusty big mac in order to fully appreciate a michelin star meal again. That's why after Frieren and Apothecary Diaries I watched some trash ecchi and isekei to reset my taste buds before I dive into the new seasons of Mushoku Tensei and Konosuba because I know that if I didn't then there's a chance I'd be a little to judgey or analytical coming out of the hype from the others.
