If you are planning on installing a 120v AC system on your van conversion or RV you really need to install a soft start unit. It eliminates the large inrush current that can blow circuit breakers or overload your inverter every time the compressor starts. It is much easier to install the soft start before the A/C is on the roof so if you are doing a new build, install the unit while the A/C is still on the ground.
