My Dad recently gave me his old Sony Handycam (CCD-TRV608) with an unopened cassette still in the case. I stopped by a camera shop and got a new battery for it since the old one was getting pretty bad. Really fun camera to make found footage content

i own a sony handycam DCR SR52E which is very similar to the camera in this video's thumbnail. main difference i notice is that mine has a 30GB hard drive rather than 60GB

Oh hey, I just came across your shorts video and I come here to see this. Well, I have one. So let me tell ya. Mine is a 2011 Sony Handycam HDR-PJ30E, I've started using this to record my KZfaq videos in 2018 and until now, Although I've been stop using it like for a long while and until I started to use it and bring it back again as my main youtube camera. (Aside my current main youtube cam that I have) About the video quality? Well, It's not that bad for a 2011 camcorder. It only record in 1080p at different qualities you can choose from and with the highest quality possible is 50p. (It's actually 1080p at 50 frames per second) And the photos aren't the best tho, It's the same as a front cam on an iPhone 7. (I would rather use this as a liminal space camera but my other old compact cameras have took that over) And oh, I'm going say that it has a name, I really love it so much. I feel like I'm becoming a dad of that camcorder I have. And everytime I go to bed, I would have it in the camera bag and hug it all night. (And I'm still doing this) Sometimes I think some camcorders are not just to make a nostalgic feeling or something similar, But it makes me have a connection with it tho. 😊 If you wanna know a name of this camcorder, Well. It's Bluebird. I named him when I was an automobile fanboy in 2017. (The day that I first got him) And until today, I'm still have this camcorder and I "still" have a really good connection with it. 😊 Plus : Oh, Before I met with this camcorder, It was my mom's production camcorder and she used it like. a few times? and until in 2017, She is just gave it to me because she didn't use it anymore and that was the start of my dream career. 😊

i dont agree the desire for digicams is "nostalgia" i think there is something fundamentally different about its visual appearance that plays differently to the mind then SHARP pictures today. something about the fuzzy unfocusness almost allows you to dream and imagine more than when everything is in focus and in full detail. something about unfocusness is doing something to the mind a "softness"
