It's actually great to extend your battery life to be honest..but charging it from zero percent will slowly take hours..so it's basically a portable external battery pack for your iPhone..

It has 2 cells (double voltage compared to the rest) of 1460mAh so it really has near 3000 mAh. It is very important to know that because you have to check the Wh instead of just mAh to compare fairly.

I picked this up for the 12 mini. With this on to start my day if I am not going to be home and on the phone a lot I get the same battery life as the 12 pro max (3,687). Love it when its needed.

Great video. I Purchased one of the MagSafe battery packs. My primary use for it is when I go on a trip and my iPhone has to last me all day including using Apple Maps. I don’t use it as a primary charger for my iPhone.

If the MagSafe technology would have had pins like wireless earbuds do, the efficiency would have been far greater

It was specifically made to be left on your phone all day long so that it sips from the paclk and not from your phones battery. It maintains 90% to preserve health. There is options to charge past 90 as well in the control center. It was absolutley not meant to recharge a dead or dying phone back up fast. Thats not what its for. My favorite part is that i dont need a magsafe charger, a wireless charging pad, or any other chargers to charge my iphone and airpods. I bring my brick, my cable, and my magsafe battery pack, and im good to go for travel or anything, i can chatge at home AND on the go all with the same item. Its perfect. Anker only charges 7.5, does not pass through charge, it does not trickle charge, it gets super hot and damages battery health. When you know what its used for, its actually a fantastic piece of tech, Apple knows what their doing.

Actually they did tear downs and it’s dual cell 1400 miliamp so it’s actually 2800 that’s why it’s so thick. Also the efficiency has to do with heat. Wireless technology isn’t too efficient so when you have let’s say 3000 mAh you only get part of that with wireless because the energy is waisted when being transferred that’s why wireless technology will never be as quick as wired

My iPhone 12 charges too slow with the magsafe battery. But that is not the point. When I attach the magsafe battery my iPhone 12’s power level is steady for the life of the magsafe battery.

This thing does not charge my 12 PRO fast enough.. as I have it snapped on charging my phone I still loose battery percentage instead of gaining.. this thing sucks it only looks good and that’s about it! Your better off with the Anker version. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Basically the use case for this requires putting it on your phone for a long time. If you value having a small phone, you might as well have bought the iPhone pro max and then you wouldn’t need this thing. It is not trivial that you make your phone heavier for a long time everyday to make use of this. Why not just charge with a lightning cable in half the time and then you won’t half to hold this extra weight half the day

Did you say that the battery size wasn't important in the charger. Even with the efficiency of Apple's products the most significant criticism for close to a decade has been poor battery life. It's true that Android makers go overboard with their 5000mah batteries and 65W charging. However, wireless charging is inefficient and bad for the environment. I get that Apple want to make magsafe useful and go portless. Unfortunately, the things that would really benefit users would be going to USB C to allow one charger to work for evereything and encouraging wired charging for efficiency and the environment. Wireless is inefficient and wasteful. Although it is easy.

I am a big apple fan but this is such a terrible product. I put it on my 12 pro max yesterday and my battery was going DOWN while “charging” 🥲

I think this product got too much flack The MOST IMPORTANT detail about the battery pack that doesn’t get enough attention is the battery health benefits. Basically any and all third party MagSafe chargers flex their larger battery size but at the end of the day they all destroy your battery health but apples has a pretty clever integrated circuit with respect to overcharge protection and heat control. If you only charge the MagSafe battery, and treat the charging like you would for your phone, you’ll probably add months (genuinely maybe years for those with the worst habits) to your phones’ life

Nice review. The papers that came in the box says that do not keep it near your body keep it away from your body at least 8 inches away. Apparently this kind of technology gives off EM radiation or whatever you call it. I agree with the other reviewer that since I have the 12 pro max If it doesn’t last all day then I’m probably need to put it down for 30 minutes and if I do I tested it yesterday with my wired anker powercore 10k with power delivery. It charged my iPhone in 30 minutes 45%. I think I’m going to return this I can understand why if somebody has a iPhone Pro or not the max than maybe it would be necessary but this thing is slow folks 😅 if you’re using the phone don’t expect the percentage to go up it’ll go down slowly actually but slower than it would without the battery pack. I think it’s fun to slap the battery on the back of the iPhone it’s kind of cool and I agree it’s kind of convenient but if you’re thinking about holding it while gaming or watching KZfaq videos especially if you have the pro max it’s kind of heavy to hold both of them at the same time.
