As a woman getting into power tools (this tool will be my fifth DeWalt added to arsenal) I really appreciate you explaining what each attatchment is with a practical visual guide. Many people simply _tell_ the viewer how things work, they don't _show_. So, thank you. Excited to try this tool out!

My cousins wife just asked for her first drill and driver set. I gave her an undercut but from ryobi because it's the battery system she has. She's obsessed with it since they are redoing their house

As a tradesman for over 35 years, every now and then a product comes along that amazes you. The multi-tool is one of those things. An ex colleague of mine turned up at my house to help me replace my consumer unit ( fuse box ) and fit new sockets in my kitchen, he had a cheaper corded Worx one. We used it to cut out the plasterboards for the sockets and, to cut boards to add new sections of board where required. I truly was blown away by its versatility, cutting copper pipework in awkward spots, cutting floorboards ( drywall ) to gain access to pipes/ cables it’s a very good tool to have at your fingertips. He gave me the tool when we finished the job as he’d just bought a new battery one. Within a few weeks, I was so impressed I went and bought the DeWalt 18v version. This is a ‘game changer’ tool, and other people have bought one on my recommendation. Mine cost £100 bare unit, to me it’s worth £300 all day long, if you work as a tradesman once you use it you’ll wonder how you ever managed without one.

I had to re-caulk all my windows on the exterior of my house. I bought this and put a scraper blade on and took all the caulking right out. My house is brick, so I would hold the blade so it would hammer on the brick lightly and it would remove all the all caulking off the brick. Awesome tool.

Put a carbide metal cutting blade on my recently purchased dewalt multi tool and used it to cut off some of the fins on the underside of an aluminum threshold ( I’m a commercial door installer) so that it could transition from the concrete to the carpet more smoothly and could not believe how much easier and faster it was versus grinding them down. It’s definitely a tool to use for more precise and hard to reach situations. But definitely a LOUD tool.

Good luck to all who own this. I bought one, tried it and returned it. It's the first DeWalt tool I ever returned. Reason: I did not cut aggressively enough. My beat up Rigid put it to shame. Why: Just check the specs. They all recip at about 20K strokes per minute. The reason the Dewalt sucks is the recip angle (the full angle the saw goes thru each cycle). The DeWalt was 1-1/2 degrees and the Rigid was 3 degrees. Heck, a cheap Ryobi is 3 degrees. The DeWalt cuts only half as much for each cycle. Don't just oh-and-ah just because it's painted yellow. Check it out. And this is coming from a DeWalt lover!!

No doubt if you're having to hold the copper pipe with one hand and the tool with the other it will move around at max rpm, but using both hands to cut metal that's held in place and feathering the triggeris the way to go.

To show how it walks all over the material you held the tool in the air unsupported, when you went on an angle you braced one arm on the material and the other on the first arm. Then when you supported your arm for the plunge cut it went well and you're all "I've been doing this for a while so.." lmao.

I then got the non xr version with the black tool change handle and it is pretty good as well. A little less power but also a little less vibration in the hand. The back of the main handle gets hot on that one as well.

Careful those things are not for continuous duty. I've burned out two already, including one high end Milwaukee M18. When it gets hot give it a rest. My go to multi tool is still my Milwaukee M18s. That being said, the cheap corded ones are just as effective minus the fit/finish/feel/balance and won't last as long.

You must have had bad luck we've had our DeWalt xr multi tool at my job for years now and it gets used every job we work 6 days a week. Milwaukee multi tool isn't even fuel the Makita one is better if you absolutely won't get DeWalt although it's better then every one I've tried besides the Fein/festool. If you run a flex volt 9ah on the multi tool it gets even more power it's great for any woodwork.

Here in the usa, thw atomic is only available as a no speed selector model, the xr on the other hand is only available with the xr model. sometimes they put the speed less xr model into their low end kits at Lowe's. same with the brushless 6 1/2 cirvular saw bare tool has a rafter hook, the ine that cimes in the 4 tool brushless kit doesn't have a rafter hook, same spec saw though. its weird sometimes. but i guess, in the end it comes down to pricing.

You won't get a smooth cut with that thing unless you sandwich the tin in between two thin boards. Angle grinder with a cutoff blade, cutting shears, fine tooth blade on a bandsaw will do a wonderful job.

I received this for Christmas with the suggestion that I use it to cut away a bunch of wood screws my neighbor put through the fence. Will this work?

Screws can be really hard to cut through. Make sure you get the right blade and it should work great. Or use a grinder

I didn't think I'd want one of these but have already found myself using this for things I'd normally have to grabbing a sawzall or a grinder for. It's compact design definitely is handy.

That is real handy for taking out the old grout when you're replacing a pane of glass in an old window frame.

I have been able to make cuts in some places where I couldn’t get ANY other tool! Including cutting off a corroded plastic nut under a bar sink for the faucet that was almost inaccessible.

I put a belt clip on mine but the shitty part about it is they do not provide the nut for the screw for the belt clip, I had to take it off another tool and it was a pain in the ass to get the nut where it needs to go.

i really don't understand why dewalt would cheap out on that. makes no sense not to add that little nut. i wanted to belt clip mine as well, just haven't got around to it yet.

@@hammerandhome I am not sure if it was just mine or if all of them are like that, the other thing that makes no sense to me is the Drywall cutter doesn't even have the option to put the clip on it there no whole.

Hi Brad, Check out dewalt oscillating tool that has the 3 speed on it. I purchased one from Lowe's a few days ago and it's pretty cool. I have both styles but i like the the 3 speed model. It's nice when you need to control the speed. It takes some time to get use to it but then you say "oh yeah", LOL... Thanks for video...

@@hammerandhome The strange part it was only available at Lowe's and not at Home Depot. The Model is (DCS 356). Let us know what you think when you get one.
