Something that I’ve always been fascinated about in regards to the Persona series is the amount of supplementary material on offer. A franchise isn’t successful just because it has a bunch of games and spinoffs. The true success of a brand is whether or not it’s able to branch out into other forms of media and this is something that persona series is rather infamous for. You know that meme where people say that Persona fans don’t play their own games? With the amount of adaptations this series has gotten over the years, I can fully see why. Without a doubt the most popular nonvideo game persona product is the persona animes. If you have more than a surface-level interest in Persona then you’ve definitely heard of these by now.
The persona animes are responsible for some of the more well-known inside jokes within the community on top of being some pretty alright watches overall. At least the Persona 4 anime is. The Persona 3 and 5 ones are a bit more of a mixed bag if you were to ask me but for different reasons. The Persona 3 movies are a good way to experience the core story but because of the theatrical format, a lot of the smaller moments needed to be cut, and part of what makes Persona 3 so special are those more quiet moments. These films aren’t bad but they aren’t something that I bothered to watch past the first two movies. The Persona 5 anime on the other hand suffers from a lack of budget and is just sort of a paint-by-numbers adaptation overall. But this is just scratching the surface because trust me, there is plenty more where that came from. If you were to peel back this adaptation layer ever so slightly, then you’d be flooded with a seemingly never-ending series of tie-ins and adaptations including but not limited to stage plays, drama CDs, and of course, manga.
Persona 5. The Persona 5 Manga is pretty cool. I don't mean the Persona 5 Manga based on the Persona 5 game or Persona 5 Royal. I mean Persona 5 Mementos Mission. Persona 5 Mementos mission was a really good read and in today's video, we're going to be reviewing and discussing Persona 5 Mementos Mission. I have already made a Persona 5 Review, Persona 5 Analysis, and Persona 5 Critique so today we're going to shake things up and do a Persona 5 Mementos Mission Review, Persona 5 Mementos Mission Analysis, and Persona 5 Mementos Mission Critique. I have never done a Persona 5 Manga Review but if this does well I will consider also making a review on the Persona 3 Manga, Persona 4 Manga, and the other Persona Manga. I hope this video convinces you to read Persona 5 Mementos Mission because it's pretty good. Persona 5's Surprisingly GREAT Manga is the best video by Nam's Compendium

I think Mementos Mission's art style and presentation is much more better than main manga adaptation. Really cool panels and illustrations.

Mementos Mission was a good read. It's short but gives a nice look at what the Phantom Thieves are doing on a smaller scale, something that the P5 anime was really lacking in. Highly recommend to people reading the comments

Persona protagonists don’t get a lot of characterization in their own games, so I love Mementos Mission for giving Joker a real personality. I love how he’s basically a normal dork trying his best in this manga. (Standout scene is when he’s so tickled by the name “Phansite” that he *repeats* it to make sure Mika heard it. What a goof.)

Re-reading MM now, and I think Joker being an overworked dude who has too much stuff to do in one day is one of my favorite characterizations for him yet. It makes sense for him to do that, completely captures the feeling of playing the game, AND he's sleep deprived and still managed to avoid Ushimaru's chalk throw. There's so much scenes of him being in the sauna or in bed, and then suddenly he forgot to do his homework so he stays up and fell asleep from it. It's such a neat detail we don't see in any of the P5 games so far

@@NurulSera I really like to see Joker as a more human character and what he actually is, a stressed overworked teenager. In games it's really hard to get his thoughts as Morgana speaks for him and he's always depicted as the OP shonen protagonist/ power trip self insert even though he has a backstory and a role which would be perfect to write a complex and compelling main character around. ATLUS do their protagonists dirty by making them silent self-insert who can get any girl.

@@jujublue4426 Not really, Most of the protags have character traits that do exist in games however they are only commented or stated by other characters and to make it worse it mostly happens in the social links and rarely are shown/stated in main story. And what piss me off more is that they did the perfect silent protagonist in Persona 2 with Maya and Tatsuya (even when they became silent ), but for some reason they don't follow their format.

I'm happy to see someone else talking about Mementos Mission! I got the whole set for Christmas last year, and I'm not done reading it yet (my reading list was and still is ridiculously long), but I love what I've read so far. It's nice to see these slices of the Phantom Thieves lives outside of what they get up to in the main game. I also appreciate that it uses the name that I’ve always used for the main protagonist.

I have 2 volumes of the p4 manga I remember getting them when they first started coming out in the us and then just read the rest online same with the p5 manga they’re pretty cool. Great video man

I remember reading the anthology collection before mementos mission thinking it'd just be more fun times with the gang. loved how they instead adapted and connected a bunch of the side missions into a serious story though (now I must talk to the hobo every time)

Hi, I love your content so much, but I have one thing I would like to tell you, and that's Persona 5 Tactica. I watched your video about P5 and how it doesn't present a good story after the original game - Royal, and I totally agree with you. Maybe Strikers was the only spin-off that provided a story near the quality of the original game. From my perspective, Persona 5 Tactica won't be any different from the dancing or Q games. If you're expecting a great story, you'll be disappointed. However, in terms of gameplay, I've always seen Persona and even SMT spin-offs provide new ideas in terms of level design, game mechanics, and even enemies. For example, Persona 4 Arena had creative gameplay, despite its lackluster story. Persona 5 & 3 Dancing, even with its horrible writing, evolved what they built in Persona 4 Dancing, which originally introduced something new in rhythm games and had its own unique ideas. My message is this: I won't expect much from spin-offs if I'm looking for a compelling story. The gameplay and design are where the creativity shines, and we don't need to judge the game solely on its story. In the end, I see these spin-offs as just appetizers for the main Meal. Whether or not we like them, it will take a lot of time before we get the main Meal. So, I welcome them, and when the main Meals(like P6 or a new mainline SMT) comes out, it will likely blow everyone's mind (I believe that will be the case). Thank you, and I'm looking forward to your opinion about Persona 5 Tactica!🥰

The p5 manga reveals that the story of royal is the canon story, because in the manga p5, yes its called persona 5 so basically there is two character in there from royal it is maruki and kasumi also the manga follow the story of royal, and by the way the light novel of this include kasumi and maruki, so making the persona 5 royal tge canon and right story.

I was really looking forward to reading the persona 5 manga cuz i saw some panels that I thought were from it but it turned out the amazing art I saw was from mementos mission. I dont know if the original manga is good story wise but I was really disappointed with the art from the original manga so I didn’t read it. It seems like a cool sidestory. Persona 5 lends itself to side content more than 4 does. 5 has a more episodic structure than 4 so that helps with side content.
