If you own the 2010 you should definitely consider doing this upgrade. However do NOT go buy a 2010 just to perform this swap. (at least till the used prices drop a whole lot.)

How about a swap harness for the 3rd and 4th gen explorers? The gen 3 was from 2002 to 2005 and came with a 4.6 2v the gen 4 was 06 to 10 and had a 4.6 3v. The room is there for a coyote, the first gen Lincoln aviators were the same body and had the 4.6 dohc like the marauders. The best years were 09-10 v8 explorers as they got the 6R80, the earlier v8 and all v6 models got the junk 5r55 trans.

Besides you and maybe one other person, mojones has asked about those cars. That 6R80 isn’t compatible with the coyote anyhow

@MattSoppa 6R80 not compatible? Since when? The 6R80 was used behind coyote powered mustangs with an auto trans until 2017 they switched to the 10R80 in 18. I also had a 13 F150 with a coyote and a 6R80 that was bought new.

@@mikeabney1214 I understand when they all came out and in what vehicles. I don’t just say these things without education. The 6r80 behind the 3Vs isn’t the same version as the later ones and will not work with a coyote ECU. I’ve learned this through multiple reputable sources in the industry

@MattSoppa Then you just use a mustang or F150 version. I only mentioned it because if you get an 09 or 10 EX the mounts and everything else should be compatible with a correct 6R80

I have to say I have a 1996 GT with the 4.6L that I would love to Coyote swap. Keep me in mind Matt.

@@whpony96 might be 2v but it’s not the same engine (2v PI) and not the same pcm or architecture as 05-11 panthers.

2002-2010 explorers could be fun-especially for the 06+ with the better 6 speed auto. AWD whippled explorer would rip.

I’ve been told that you could run the Godzilla on a G1 ECU as well and would just need a modified cote engine harness to hit the Godzilla

I own a 2010 GT 5 speed and it definitely is a weird year lol. The old 3v finally gave up on me a few weeks ago at 210k miles so new engine time…. Probably going with a gen 3 coyote crate as the replacement but a little confused on the difference between your kit VS the ford control pack or PBH. It’s a daily driver and would need to pass NC OBDII emissions. What do I need to make it work?

Needs to be ran in a gen 1 ECU with our harness or hard wired with our guide. Do that with using get two heads and Gen one timing components on the G3 short block so that you can use the GEN one ECU. The GEN threeor two ECU is just not compatible like the GEN one ECU is with the 2010. Usually any control pack whether it’s Ford or PBH doesn’t have a mission controls on it. With our harness, you can use a factory computer that has all the emission stuff ready to go. There’s still a little to be done even with this harness but feel free to message me directly at matt.Makeitmodular@gmail.com.

@@MattSoppa hey man thank you for the info…sounds a lot more complicated than I expected for the gen 3 lol. I’d hate to buy a brand new engine and still have to change heads and timing so I may have to go another direction, but either way I’ll be in touch as I have some more questions.
