I agree with you here! My first VCR was thankfully not a Funai, instead a GE 2-Head Mono VCR from 1986. But after that, we mostly were a Funai family (with the exception of a couple Orion-made units) unfortunately. Funai did make good units - as long as you go back pre-1992 that is! I dunno if you seen Spats Bear's videos on some good 80s Funai VCRs or not but they're worth a watch if you haven't seen them! You just might be surprised!😉👌

A long time ago, I recall having an SPC RCA DVD/VCR combo. It was manufactured by Funai. I can definitely say that it is one of those machines that eats tapes quite often. We only used it as a DVD player for that reason. It could explain why I don't remember using that DVD/VCR combo a lot... I have a Sony DVD/VCR combo, and it's still working well ever since we bought it in 2005.

Well, the only useful thing about Funai VCR’s is cleaning moldy tapes.

I Still Have An Old Emerson VCR From 1986 And It Still Works, No Belt Problem, And It Was Manufactured By Emerson, NOT Crappy Funai Ones. Glad We Choose The Right VCR That Never Eats Tapes Unlike Any Other Crappy Funai Made VCRs That Is The Tape Eater. Nice Job Teaching People About Never Buy Funai Made VCRS.

Actually it was possibly made by Orion. Orion made Emerson VCRs, those are the good ones.

Emerson VCRs from 1986 were made by Orion Electric Co. in Japan. Also known as Sansui VCRs today for the new models.

And the worst part is there's a VHS player scamming company known as RadVCR, they rip off using other brand based VCRs as advertising "their" brand of product.

I'm aware of this, The VCR King Exposed that company to Funai Corporation INC.

Then you are really lucky, I’m lucky that I haven’t got any Funai VCR.

Actually Funai VCRs from before 1996 were the best on the market! If you're going to buy a Funai, see if you can get one from the 80s or early 90s!

I also have another VHS VCR which is the Emerson EWV404 that it was given to me from one of my housemates and it still works, and it had some issues. I did fixed it, clean the head, guide rollers and pinch rollers as well as clean out all of the gears to prevent from jamming. I tested out and it plays really well, and it would be my backup VCR, and it’s flimsy and cheap than the other VCR’s that are more durable, bulky, and heavy from the late 1970’s and the 1980’s. And my Emerson EWV404 VCR was also Funai which I still hate the most, and that would be use as a spare backup VCR, and also be use for recording audio instead of video for aircheck use like recording off the radio including a full complete show for 4 hours in SLP mode depending on using a T-120 blank VHS tape.

I have a Sanyo branded VCR only from 2004 that I’ve had since day 1. I think it was made by LG or Samsung. It is a very good unit from right before they started having funai make the vcr’s and DVD players. To this day in 2021, it work like a champ. Have the original remote, keep the clock set, and it hooked up to easily be able to record with it even though I have a Sony DVD player right below it that can record

Funai build quality is way too inferior to the other VHS VCR manufacturers. (14:12)

But I unfortunately have a Symphonic WF803 VCR DVD combo from Funai, and it eats tapes.
@Musicradio77Network3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it eats tapes if there is an issue, I did removed the screws and open the top lid to see what went wrong. I have to removed the tape from the VCR after it got stuck or jammed.

If these things where atleast somewhat repair friendly and didn't constantly revert back to eating tapes, I personally wouldn't care. But they do. So fuck em. Personally I have an Orion VP0040 which is honestly about as cheap and nasty as these funai's. The outer case is even falling apart! However, it actually _took my efforts of getting it working._ Unlike the funai it hasn't reverted back to being broken.

That's an cheap vcr that is the problem..Old Funai are good mascines but you should spend some bucks more to find one..The same thing is with al cheap vcr s new generation you must understand what you are buying..I have Funai from 1989 and still works fine with some repairs..Find me any modern mascine with any format today with durability for 30 years or TV or computer and so on....
