The only time I unplug and plug back in my router is when we are having connectivity or speed issues. Usually fixes the problem.

Yes let them slow it down, cause there is a problem and I need them to know. Puls nowadays in Germany, as the electricity prices are skyrocketing no need for extra Wi-Fi devices we need to turn off the main switch whenever we can.

If the port is the same shape as the other LAN ports but looks a bit different chances are it is the WAN port. They are labelled differently depending on the make and model of the router.

Depending on your interface to your ISP (modem only or modem/router combo) the WAN port generally leads to your ISP and is not insulated from the Internet or sits in a special zone on the modem called a DMZ. The LAN ports in your modem/router or in a stand-alone router connected from the WAN port to a stand-alone modem's LAN port are the ports to create the network within your home (i.e., local network) and generally are insulated by it's own DMZ and firewall built into the stand-alone router or insulating the modem from the router in a modem/router combo. To create a LAN the router uses IP addresses that can not be routed directly to and on the Internet (i.e., 10.x.x.x, 172.16 thru 31.x.x, 192.168.x.x).

It is the same thing. Some manufacturers call it WAN other call it Internet, or Broadband.

WAN is usually used with an External Modem (such as Cable modem or a xDSL Modem etc), and is usually the standard RJ45 connector, a "Broadband" port is often RJ11 (a mini-phone style) - these are when it's a "modem/router" combined, and connects directly to your phoneline...
