It's oil change day for our RIPP Supercharged 3.6L V6 Ram 1500 and like always we crack open the catch can to check how much oil it's filtered oil. This catch can keeps this oil which would normally gunk up your intake manifold and valves separated to keep your engine running healthier, longer. All Pentastars need catch cans, supercharged or not. My Charger had about 9000 miles on it when I supercharged it and I added ported intake manifolds. The old manifolds were soaked with oil and gunk. I was shocked. No wonder the Pentastar's have carbon build up on their pistons and valves. I added two catch cans to it. The air filter was getting a stead drip, drip, drip of oil into it from the other side. Not any more. Love my Ripp supercharger and I wouldn't have anything else. Thanks Ripp! At 72 mph, my Charger gets almost 40 mpg depending on the terrain. The 16 week wait was worth it.

I have a RIPP Supercharger on my JK. I had a different brand of catch can installed before RIPP came out with their’s. I have since installed the RIPP catch can because I was unhappy with my previous one. It is by far better than my previous one, it’s a little more money but it’s definitely worth it. I can’t stand when my engine loads up with blow by, plus it has a handy dip stick which is a plus.

Hi, is this needed or recommended for a 2019 ram 1500 V6 3.6L non rebel or classic. I have the 5th gen bighorn. Is it compatible or do you have a diffrent version for my truck? Thanks.

Bad seal on the PCV valve? Just changed mine at 226k miles. Not sure if it was ever done.

I used to wonder why my oil level ended up lower as I racked up miles in between oil changes until I took off the intake, It was completely black inside and the throttle body actually had enough oil in it for it to have drips off of it when I pulled it off!!! Is this available now in the site?

Absolutely! Every engine benefits from having a catch can on it to keep the intake and valves clean from carbon and oil build up.

08 JKU not supercharged but did add the RIPP cold air intake kit can a catch can be added? And what about the automatic transmission cooler? Directions state factory transmissions will not fit and then it will fit I ain’t Mr. Good wrench so it’s possible I’m reading it completely wrong so feel free to correct me and lmk thanks

I noticed the Grand Cherokee Pentastar kits don't come with a catch can. Does it not need one?

Thank you for the comment, all vehicles could use a catch can kit. The Grand Cherokee kit in specific is currently in the R&D process, there is not ETA for release.

Just curious what was the total cost including installation.. I know it depends but what's a estimate. Thinking about putting one in my 2019 300s V6

You would have to check with a local install shop based on their hourly rate. This item take 30 minutes to install at most. It is however a very simple install with the provided instructions and is a great way to familiarize yourself with working on a Pentastar.

Mine cost about 10 grand installed. That includes a bored and ported throttle body, and ported intake manifolds, hardened head bolts and all stainless Borla exhaust. If Ripp would make an exhaust for my 18 Charger, I would probably buy it. Hint Ripp?

Does my 2020 JGC Trailhawk with Pentastar 3.6 lit, V6 engine need this Catch Can? Are you saying that ALL such engines need it or just for the RAM truck here? Thanks.

All internal combustion engines benefit greatly from a catch can. The Pentastar engine, especially the second gen found in your JGC Trailhawk, is notorious for oil blow by which is exactly what the catch can separates out so clean air is recirculated back into the intake manifold. We do not have one available for the 2020 GC yet but we definitely suggest one on that engine.

RIPP Superchargers good to know! If you do not have one available "now" should I assume you will have it later? Is there an alternative Catch Can you'd recommend? Thanks.

@@MrKozanitis Yes we will definitely have one available soon. Any other's will just be cans which you'll need to make your own lines for. We will have a full can, bracket, and hose kit available.

RIPP Superchargers excellent! I look forward to getting it. I return to the States ( Atlanta, GA) in late October; just came to Europe ( Greece) where I have a 2016 JGC Overland Trail Rated 3.6 Pentastar. Wish you guys were here, too! :-) I hope you'll post another video when the Catch Can is available.

Yes absolutely! We recommend adding the catch can regardless of stock engine or forced induction from any manufacturer.

Wouldn't that simply be disintegrated in the normal recirculation back into the combustion chamber? These aren't GDIs and thus burn off a majority of this stuff so isn't this kind of a solution in search of a problem? I'm not against them, I'm just trying to understand the need.

Only if it manages to makes its way all the way into the combustion chamber before sticking anywhere else. Intake manifolds and valves are often caked up with oil deposits over time.

Good video. However, you don't understand octane. That gunk would NOT make your fuel more volatile and burn hoter and faster (lower octane). Research octane and what it means, you'll learn something. Great video otherwise.
