A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

Same here.. demanding she pick up soda.. there was no "can u" or "please" nor a "thank u".. yet she still said she would do it cause that's her son and she loves him (as mothers should).. it's just heartbreaking that he would do something like this to the same woman that gave him life and was willing to do anything she could to help him. It's so horribly disgusting that anyone could hurt their own mother, let alone kill her!! Smh. Takes a real monster to do something like that

Out of everyone in this case, my heart broke for Krista. Especially when you hear friends and family talk about her. She was just a kind, patient, nurturing mother. Not just to her kids, but to everyone else around her. In the victim impact statements. The grandmother said despite everything Chandler did to them, if their parents were still alive in that courtroom, they wouldn’t want Chandler to spend the rest of his life in jail. I definitely believe that one for Krista. Despite how horrible her own son treated her, she still would’ve taken his side. She was a gentle soul that will truly be missed by everyone 💔 not just in Windsor, but everyone who learns about this case and her kindness.

@@astridvvv9662 That's just it, he didn't ask, he ordered her. Was he in the habit of speaking to her like this, if so she should have cared enough for herself to demand respect from him. There's a lesson in this, to harden your heart just a little when it comes to your children, and treat them as you would any other criminal. Bart really should have made his first stop the police station; in fact the emails he received from his child were fraud and phishing. As an accountant he should have acted in his own and his wife's behalf, just like he would advise a client experiencing something like this. He should have assumed the worst, not the best, of his child, in my opinion, and acted accordingly.

Do you know why he told her to get soda? They kept sodas in a small fridge in the basement, in the same room he shot them. Telling her to get soda, and that he's working was done to get her to walk directly into the basement when she got home, where he was waiting with his rifle to shoot. He probably didn't have enough time to move or clean up after his dad, so she likely found him in the basement right before it happened.

When the "jig was up" so to speak they both murdered their parents thinking that would "solve" all of their problems. @@tourdedogue4952 I think the emergency doctor testifying quashed that avenue. He almost laughed at the prospect of Chandler needing a hole drilled into his head and a colostomy bag for a possible mild concussion, which he had to diagnose based only on what Chandler told him. There were no test results or medical evidence to diagnose any injury. Chandler had absolutely no follow up medical treatment after the initial visit to the hospital with his father to set up the "i'm gong to be an invalid" lie to get out of the fake job and fake college lies. All of Chandler's lies being so easily exposed at every turn seemed to leave his attorneys with no viable defence. I doubt the jury was about to believe anything that may have come from Chandler. He had totally lied himself into a corner re the head injury... And probably any other defence idea they tossed around. They could not find even ONE witness to call in his defence! Even the very strange closing argument for him sounded more like it came from the state than his side.

I think this is an example where the defense attorneys were not doing him any favors. There wasn't any evidence entered to indicate he used that tape measure for that purpose - it was merely in the area. They should have mentioned that as an example of the prosecution's lack of integrity or deception or whatever. They could have asked whether the tape measure was drenched in blood. If it wasn't, why not if it was really used for that purpose. Same story with the tiny little fan - pure speculation with zero evidence. Good defense attorneys are not going to let the prosecutor get away with unfounded speculation.

Kress was a very perceptive person. She knew there was something off when she saw the hatch back was open and Chandler was coming out of the woods. She and Dulche could have been murdered at that point. They were both smart enough to make a getaway on that lawnmower and call the Sheriff's Dept. Cat was also fortunate enough to not catch onto the depravity occurring at that time. Her innocence was what kept her alive. She saw the good in everyone. Just to backtrack in her thoughts that she was spent the night with Chandler in a house with the dismembered parents will haunt her for decades. The dogs acting off because they witnessed the crime. People saying how suspicious she seemed during the trial need to go watch the police interviews. You can tell that this experience has really changed her, made her less trusting. When she was up on the stand she must have felt so angry at Chandler (he tried to frame her for murder and used her as an alibi!), she must have felt so ashamed that she didn't see what in hindsight is so obvious. What shows me the depth of his depravity is the "overkill" so to speak. (Now I know where the expression must come from). Why not just shoot them, take them 200 miles away and bury them in a field and go home. Why take all the risks of doing it in the home and then the dismemberment and burning skulls in the fireplace and "burying" some of the remains on his girlfriend's families' farm and other places. So if he had done that with his father's body as well, the case would have been a bit more difficult. I think he didn't do that because in his twisted mind he wanted to pin the murder on Dulce and Cress. That's why he put his father's body, the gun and the tools on their property and he mentioned "the other couple" as well as that Cress would shoot anyone who trespasses on her property.

@Samantha Ruvika People are wired to think of Cat as a victim and innocent but women are given privileges in the system because of this. I just want to ensure IF she is a part of it, they bring her to trial like him. s so obvious from the questions the attorneys asked her, they were keeping her involvement out of the case and Cat's answers proved she is not telling the entire story. Even the press is not printing or showing anything about her. It's really obvious. The usual protocol is to continue to question those in close contact with any murder suspect, especially someone who slept in the same house where the murders, burnings and cutting, and removing of the bodies took place. It's ridiculous how they tiptoed around the fact she was there with him, immediately after he killed and burned them. Then bringing cleaning supplies and ice, which he obviously used to preserve the body parts. She slept IN THE ROOM he killed them and burned them, and near the freezer. Clearly, this guy had profound mental health issues and all anyone can focus on is the horrific way it manifested - does no one want to know WHY and maybe prevent this from happening in another family? KillerKat as she goes by online was no Victim, she knew all about his lies from the beginning his many ex-girlfriends will attest to that. This fact alone debunks the narrative that was been fed of this naive gullible girl duped by this psyco. Rubbish, she actually enabled him. Let's see what her full unedited police interview has to say, I suggest it speaks volumes of her complicity in this heinous crime. To put an end to all the speculation Innuendo and implications will surely follow.I would like to think it would be in her best interests. She's Innocent Right, well that's what we are being led to believe Does anyone care that the Cat the girlfriend is an actress and participates in acting slasher like films? Parents that are trying to just help their child get ahead start in adult hood could be lied to without being out of touch. I know a couple whose son lied, stold not only from them, but anyone he could, told them in was in formal education, working part time. None of it was true. He kept up the appearance, paid for his own hair cuts, cigarettes, whatever. He was using money he had stolen, or items and would sell them for money It was over a year when he was found out, sent to jail. Parents were shocked. They didnt ask for anything such as rent, just expected him to get his education and pay for his personal wants. This mother may have been in denial, the father figured Chandler was at the very least, lying. When confrontation came about, Chandler had already planned what he would do to continue HIS lifestyle.

I was thinking, an obvious defense to build would have been one of "chandler was terrified of and terrorized by his father. And when his army friend gave him a rifle, suddenly, for the first time in his entire life of living in terror of his father, Chandler had a way to defend himself. He didn't use it right away. Two weeks went by, of screaming, assault, belittlement, and his fathers rage. On July 1st, in fear of his life, he finally defended himself. He distracted his father as Bart came at him, and while he was looking away, Chandler shot him." Then spin the thing as "He was going to come clean to his mother, and when she came home and told him how she was going to kill him for what he had done, still holding onto the rifle for dear life, he shot her in a panic." Then obviously dress up the dismemberment as panic and trauma response. Go for a self defense and mental collapse angle where you could challenge the charge of premeditation and get him off the hook that way. Tbh, this all probably occurred to the defense, and I'd like to think they simply had the integrity to not drag his parents memory through the mud. Which is a nice thought on the tail end of an absolute shitshow, so I'll go with that.

That closing was one of the saddest closings I ever watched. But-they really had nothing to work with-they should have tried for a plea.

I think maybe talking about the puzzle pieces spread all over Wisconsin was a bit unnecessary after she said she wouldn't be showing any photos. This was an open and shut case. Her job wasn't super difficult. I pray Bart and Krista's loved ones can find peace and healing, most of all, Mitchell.
