A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

Defense didn’t even attempt to cross examine the forensic video investigator. He was so thorough and well spoken. He didn’t miss a beat. It was so freaky watching that light flicker knowing what we know. He was cooking his parents in the fireplace … this is truly one of the most gruesome cases in the last couple years .

Well, he is guilty, and he is never getting out. All 8 charges were guilty, 2 of which have mandatory life in prison. It's such a shame. I'm sure if he was honest and open with his family, they would have circled the wagons and helped him

To think all he had to do was say, "Look, I've been lying and I don't have a job and haven't been going to school but I'm going to go spend this weekend with Cat on the farm." Seems his parents probably would have said, "Well we're dissappointed but we appreciate ya coming clean and being honest." But nope, he did what he did. That's what seems common in these psycopaths is they would rather alter reality than accept it. They just removed the people their lies didn't work on. So many similarities to Joel Gott.

We're literally sitting here watching as that guy burns his parents' body parts in their own fireplace! I wonder what he's sitting there thinking as everyone there and on video is witnessing his evil actions? I can't even comprehend how someone could do what he did! And yes, I believe he is guilty even though the trial isn't over. My opinion doesn't matter in the least. Don't come for me!

Makes me sick to think, while we are watching this video and seeing the fire start and burn knowing at that time he was burning his parents heads and other parts. Just insanity. He obviously killed them at the house, first the dad, then when mom came home she got it, assuming that Friday evening. So he must of had a suppressor or silencer in order for no one to hear the gun shots. This guy definitely planned this out for awhile. Sick dude. No question if he did it or not. He's 100% guilty. Life in prison with no chance of parole is the only option here.

This is extremely gruesome and traumatically detrimental on not just the parents, son, Mitchell and close family and friends of the deceased but to all of America, as well. It's horrific and devastating as it was brought to our attention and now we're just as traumatized as the family. Lord, please bless Mr and Mrs Halderson to now rest in peace as I can only imagine how terrifying the last moments of their lives must have been. God bless you Mitchell Halderson for the tragic loss of your parents and brother, as well, as now you have neither.

I really wish we could know exactly why he left a piece of the skull just perfectly propped up on the logs inside the fireplace. It looked as though he was very thorough in his cleanup of the fireplace as well as setting up fresh logs with paper. He had to intentionally place that skull fragment there. It wouldn’t have just been there without his knowledge. So what in the world was going through his mind at that moment

Actually some of the most gruesome footage I have seen, because it's in your mind what this 'son' was doing to his parents to create that much window flare over night. The video is loooooooong no matter how 'sped up'. Stephen King wishes he'd thought of this for a book. Unbelievable, but this 'son' really did it (allegedly). That's, gruesome. All IMHO.

Good lord …. I’m a pretty empathic person and I can’t even fathom …. What this guys did …. This guy first shot his father in the back … then waited for his mother to come home … even lied on a text telling her to get soda as well … took her out …. Mutilated the bodies with blades and hand tools , saws etc , spent over 3hours burning their heads…. They may have said that. But ultimately it's his call, and his right. He may know he's going to be found guilty, but what else does he have to do... sit in prison longer, or sit in court and watch people run in circles discussing his crimes. These were self-centered crimes, he probably enjoys watching.

It was explained today that in order to plead and prove “insanity “ the defendant must not recognize right from wrong. In this case, Chander obviously knew right from wrong in that he attempted to destroy and hide his parents bodies by fire and dismembering them.

Human bodies are heavy. He's thin as a rail. He might have taken them out in pieces. The belt around his father's torso might have been there because the torso was too heavy and he dragged it.😳

I am assuming he is picking up the different parts of the body, I am also assuming that he is getting some form of lighter fluid as it isn't easy to burn a body. It is easy to catch one on fire but for a body to continue to burn it needs other fuel around it or extremely high heat, much higher than he could get in a home fireplace, so he would need to continue to add something to keep the body parts burning. So I am assuming he is adding either wood doused in lighter fluid, or just wood, or just lighter fluid or something like that.

A good prank on Chandler would be having a Doctor testify that he was working with the parents because they both contracted an illness, and only had a month to live. Then have a fake insurance adjuster testify that Chandler would have gotten half of their $12 million dollar Life Insurance Policy when they died in a month. This is the best part of the entire trial. And it looks like if there's more than just 1 person inside the home. Bcuz at about 2:59-3:07am...when the kitchen lights r on and while the fireplace is bright then goes dark and the kitchen lights r stl on then it reignites while it looks like someone is seen moving around in both the fireplace window & the kitchen/ dining window then kitchen lights go off. There's NO WAY he was there by himself.

At no time did the forensic video specialist who did that exhaustive study mention you could see another person in the video. So...how could you?? Do you really think this expert would have missed that but you see it? Not to mention the forensic team would have been able to tell if there were 2 people there in the house (other than parents). Have you not noticed the exceptional thoroughness of the investigation? I'd leave the analysis to the experts who were actually there with the physical/visual evidence.

Attorneys are hired to defend their clients in court no matter what the circumstances are .… though both dorl & Vera were public Aid , they honestly did the best they could . They knew chandlers was guilty , they both knew there was solid evidence against him … they were there to simply make sure he gets a fair trail , and possibly raise suspicion in the jurors mind as …. We really don’t know exactly how Bart died … nor krista …. We don’t know if this was coerced prior , or if any one else was in on this … there’s still a lot we don’t know but … they tried .

I think the defense is hoping the prosecution screws up, but that’s a long shot, just judging from the tepid effort on the defense’s part. My gut says he’s trying to protect Cat, but that’s a lost cause. She will likely be charged after Chandler’s conviction. They clearly didn’t need her help to convict Chandler. They only used Cat for corroborating a few points of fact and hoped she would perjur herself. I think she did. She had to think long and hard about a few direct questions-she likely helped clean up on the night of July 1. Well, we shall see, won’t we?

@@jonboll-LGM I watched. ADA was likely feigning no suspicion, but the question is, did you pay attention to his questioning and Cat’s delayed responses to a few key questions. Seems to lay som foundation for recall later in the trial. If no, I suggest you watch it again.

And we seen didn't we...if she was involved she would have been charged already. They found out every lie chandler told you don't think they would have found out cat was involved?
