A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

This should be used for one of those step by step guides on how not to commit murder!!! The amount of evidence is so overwhelming!!! And he’s such an elaborate liar. My condolences to the family and friends of his parents. May Gods have mercy on his soul🙏🏾 because he had absolutely none for his poor parents😢😢😢

With all this evidence, why is he not making a plea deal? It’s insane the amount of evidence they have. This is just horrible. Poor Mitchell has to deal with all this on his own. Just sad, very, very sad.

I didn't hear that the state had offered him a deal. The state may not have felt the need to offer a deal. I haven't followed too closely, so I may be wrong.

Finally someone besides me is concerned about Mitchell he probably never thought that the last time he saw his parent’s would literally be the last time ‼️ I feel so sad for him because he’s lost his parent’s in such a gruesome way and his brother did it I don’t know how anyone could cope with something like that. I hope he’s doing ok at least he has his fiancé and other family members to help him and possibly help themselves’s 👍🏻🥺😢

Once again another impeccable day of trial. This case has been handled tremendously both from the witness testimony, the defense, and prosecution. They have been so professional and this whole trial should be used as a learning tool as to how trials should be conducted. Outstanding work from everyone and I hope that this is a continued smooth process (as smooth as a murder trial can be) I am impressed.

Halderson’s attorneys have barely cross-examined the plethora of witnesses and expert witnesses parading in and out. They know their client is guilty so they’re doing the bare minimum of defense. But Halderson is too ignorant to realize his attorneys aren’t working for him.

@@ashleywright8686 Yeah, her closing argument really showed their intentions with this case. His defense was there to basically just be counsel because legally they had to do that.. other than being present that was about all you really saw from them. I suspect his sentencing hearings will be mostly the same. He deserves every bit of time he has coming his way.

I mean, as far as they knew he was working as an IT tech, volunteered as a diver in the marine SAR group of the local police force, was looking forward to satrt a job at SpaceX and move to Florida. He had a girlfriend that he seemed happy with and who seemed happy with him and his family. Sure, he got up to the usual "I'm an adult now, why can't my girlfriend sleep over" shenanigans, but how should they have known that _all_ of it was a lie? Maybe they even suspected he faked his injury for sympathy and just gave him what he needed after his brother was the focus for a while before - but how would that translate into "oh, this injury is fake - he's probably planning to murder us"?

No doubt. A 23 year old still living at home claimed things were great yet never had money must've infuriated Bart and Krista. Chandler's noose was tightening because Bart was done with excuses and was taking steps to find out what the heck was holding up his son's forward momentum out the door to independence.

Ballistic expert was so concise, knowledgable and clear. She explained everything very well and her demeanor was so professional and well put together. So far only the luminol guyleft me underwhelmed.

I can't believe they haven't use the foot print he left (bare feet footprints I believe), they showed it when the luminol guy was interviewed (day 5 slide 13), and the other detectives, when they booked him they took a picture of his foot where the small cut was, so how come they discarded that evidence? Not that they need more evidence but I thought that was a good one.

The picture of the small hole on his toe bottom of his foot smooshed, so you couldn't get an accurate evaluation from that, but if there is a bare foot print on scene, they definitely need to see if it matches the foot. I didn't hear them mention the bare foot print myself.

@@cristineconnell7803 oh he step all over I might be wrong but I see barefooted prints apparently, it's on slide 13 with the luminol guy on day 5, even without him saying it you can notice footprints but he literally said "there were some Footwear impression or apparent Footwear impressions in blood in these this area. And you can see that in this photograph" I just left the timestamp on that other video in the comment section

When Chandler was on a quarantine, I’ve been watching a cam court of Arizona state. They allow the jury question each witness.

Yes!! Love when I can catch a case in Arizona. It really gives you insight on maybe what the jurors are thinking. Also, sometimes they are questions I had myself. Check out the case of Sasha Krause!

It seems unbelievable that he just doesn't take a plea deal. We all know which way this is going. Does anyone believe he will get off for this horror show? Fingerprints don't lie. I am in awe of the incredible amount of professional expertise from these witnesses.

The prosecution has such a bulletproof case I can't imagine there's any plea they'd entertain. No death penalty in Wisconsin, so what would he be able to get from a plea deal? No one's looking to put parole on the table, I'm sure, so might as well gamble on a jury process with the tiniest chance of getting off than enter a plea and give up the right to appeal, etc.

It seems rare nowadays for there to be police work in an investigation that is this outstanding! I was truly shocked at the lengths that they went. I was really surprised when they went to the homes across the pond to look for video evidence. Thank God they did because that was truly compelling video evidence! This has been an amazing trial and very interesting and informative!

It’s feeling like he wanted to get caught, or he thought he was doing a good job of framing himself & hoping that they would think it was his girlfriends moms partner that did the killing and tried framing him. Because there’s no other reason for the tape. He had no reason to put a piece of tape on the tarp and on the garbage bin and then having the rest of the roll of tape just out in plain site at his house. Absolutely no reason for it

yes they found gun on the farm where father was found. but police missed finding the gun only when the girlfriends mother's girlfriend was cleaning barn she found it October months after.

Yes... His "online" gaming buddy gave it to him as a gift. Then he murdered, dismembered, and "attempted" to cremate his folks corpse's in their homes' fireplace😡 But things didn't go as planned... He still had some "parts" of his parents, and his gun he had murdered them with. So, he stashed the "parts" and the gun on his girlfriend's mother's partners' property. A few months after he was already in jail, the gun was discovered and turned over to the police 🚓 This case is absolutely bananas!🍌🍌🍌

I'm a layman when it comes to the law. But even I could of thought of a cross and a few objections on this witness and more. I think the Defense is lazy in there approach to this trial. I don't care because he's a guilty murderer. But there not doing their job very well! I'm amazed she had a cross on witness.. Finally!!!!

For real. The expert has to feel a bit ridiculous trying to scientifically explain how the comparison was done when the side-by-side exhibit looks like they just copied and pasted the same picture.

@@tjohnson7811 didn't have a full clear print, Ralph Lauren was what she suspected, but not enough to try to find matching shoe, it is simply noted as there, would have been an incomplete analysis to not mention everything noted! He could have easily grabbed a pair of Dad's shoes to distract evidence! That doesn't bother me, but defense will try to use as distraction & blaming someone else, but the evidence is very overwhelming against Chandler!

i know the evidence is overwhelming but i would have loved to see the defense team try harder to make a case but it seems like they just threw in the towel. regardless if she knows he’s guilty she needs to represent period.

They also can’t just make a fool of themselves though. Especially with a case that got as much exposure as this one. If she just kept objecting and trying to piece together some nonsense, it would’ve looked even worse on them. Only because the state had SUCH a solid and well thought out case, they were given absolutely no breathing room whatsoever.

Btw, I watch many crime shows , interrogations. The same blue sneaker has been in 2 other horrific crimes. One was a homeless guy that ducked taped a lady's whole head and stabbed her n left her off the road some where ,in Florida. Another creep ,dirty,monster had the same blue shoes, he killed 2 girls 8 to ten years apart, there were body parts in his freezer and the plumbing was backed up with flesh! Do your own research but they all have the same blue pill ,I mean blue shoe. Weird??? May e not maybe so.
