As of today, the Tennessee husband is in police custody after alleging that his wife, Taquila Hayes, left the house with a 'stranger.' Hayes claims that he and his wife had been discussing a divorce for some time and that she simply took off with the intention of getting a divorce without him. However, Hayes does not have a clear explanation for where his wife may have gone.

About the Victim:
Taquila Hayes was born on February 22, 1978, and was last known to live in Cordova, Tennessee. Family and friends describe her as a beautiful and outgoing woman with a heart of gold. A cheery smile followed you every time you saw her. She was always there for everyone, supporting and helping in any way she could. Given that she loved nursing and was well-respected by her colleagues in the medical field, this was beneficial to her career. She worked as a nurse for many years at Methodist University Hospital. It is one of the biggest hospitals in Memphis, TN. When she was not working, she was busy at home being a wife and a mother. Taquila shared a teenage son with her husband, Carl Hayes.

I’m believe this my ex-choked me until i almost passed out. Then another time he threatened to hit me in my head with a hammer. My gosh its very frightening to even speak this. One day i woke up after 5 years of constant on and off relationship. I told him one morning i woke up that im leaving because i had a vision of either me or him dying and i never looked back its been 9 years. I ran into him at subway the other week i dreaded that day. A dreadful feeling came over me as we locked eyes i quickly turned my head. And he walked right back out with 2 women he was with thank GOD

I agree with you. It's not safe to just leave some of these trifling dudes. They can't handle losing access to that woman and rejection. They can seriously hurt or even kill a woman. I always say never tell them you're leaving. Just plan and leave,even if you have to go into a shelter. Leave even if you have to leave some possessions You can replace those things. Protect yourself and your children always.

Her being a nurse, her job should have noticed her missing. The minute she doesn't show up for a shift, they're calling and then doing a welfare check because anyone in Healthcare knows if you don't show up for a scheduled shift without a valid reason, it's considered patient abandonment.

No it’s not the supervisors fault; however, the information that was provided could have given a jump start on trying to find her. As a supervisor I had a young lady on my team that was going through it with the man she was living with. She shared what she was going through with her peers on my team. They in turn advised her to talk with me because I was motherly towards the younger ladies on my team. She shared with me her situation which I advised her that she needed to let her family know and if she didn’t I would, I would want someone to do the same for any of my children if it came to that….

Sometimes they offer plea deals bc they don't have enough evidence to go to trial or win and if the jury doesn't convict due to lack of sufficient evidence or proving their case they can actually go free! And can turn around and admit it but jeopardy is attached so they can't retry them! So pleas ensure that they do some time instead of no time.

In May of 2022, my 50 year old cousin was murdered by her husband of less than three years after wanting a divorce. She was also an RN that had recently earned her doctorate degree. This left family member completely shocked and devastated. The first murder in our family. I pray that Taquila is resting in eternal peace with my cousin.

One time, I did not answer my brother's call and text messages. He messaged my BF on IG and my guy said that I was okay; I was busy and told him to say that. I KNEW before I told my guy to respond that my brother was NOT going for that. I stopped what I was doing and called him back immediately! He told me was about to come to my house because we don't do messages through people. We were both on the same vibe. Thanks for the update! I live in Memphis and was in a domestic violence marriage during this time. My friend who is a firefighter woke me up when this story aired and said “if you don’t leave your husband now, you will end up like her.” My abuse was increased during this week. I followed this story during that time and was in tears. I hate this happened to her, but because of her story, I found the strength to walk away from my ex. and I am so glad I found my strength to never return. Praying her son and other family members daily strength! Praying for every woman and man who is currently suffering from DV that you find the strength to walk away and never return!

Just my opinion, everyone dropped the ball on her. if you know it's out character of Taquila to not communicate will people that are close to her. why not drop by her home or insist police do a welfare check. The supevisor should have been written up for not following protocol, at the bare minimum they should have requested a welfare check and not take the husband word.

RIP Taquila. I’m Always in awe of the resilience of the Victims Mom. This woman has shown this Monster something that he lacks, Integrity. He admits to killing this beautiful woman but won’t say where her body is. He’s still trying to Control her even in death, it shows how absolutely scary he truly is. In in childhood group of friends 3 have had to gone thru a divorce. We have a shared exel in Google docs with addresses, children’ school info, work numbers, and we have shared “code words” for reasons like this. Unfortunately when things like this happen we have to ring the alarm for ourselves, and damn near put together an investigation before things start moving. I encourage you to establish a safety net of shared information with trusted people that know your daily habits (Day1s not in-laws) so the alarm can be immediately when things seem off. *make the code words complex and unique avoid dates, shared memories, favorite colors or food. It works for phone calls and texts. It sounds ridiculous but DV is real. A simple “hey girl send me the code so I know your okay?”. No answer or wrong answer is an immediate call to the police. Crazy times. Judging from the comments a lot of women have been thru this myself included. I hope you never have to fear for your life over the end of a relationship. It’s sad we have to move like this but it can save ur life

Honestly, I blame and mother and family members as well. As a mother, a parent, it is your responsibility to keep tabs on your children no matter where they are, age, marriage, or astronaut!!!! I will never understand how so many family members become so relaxed when a family member moves out of town. They expect the 1 person living out of town to do all the calling, visiting, checking in. All you people love amongst each other and you all didn’t realize she’d been missing for 2-3 months before a police report was filed?!? Far too relaxed!

Just wow! What job ignore an employee disappearing like that?! Those people at work didnt care about her. I work at a hospital and when something similar to this happened, the job reached out the day after hearing from my then co-workers husband saying she was sick. We need to hear it from the coworker. Due to the husband not being able to get his wife on the phone. A wellness check was done on day 2 and thats when a gruesome site was discovered. The husband got life in prison and was found very fast. He didnt get the chance to clean up.

😔 Her story needed to be heard ... You did a beautiful job with it... I pray that on day his spirit is touched in a way that it won't rest until he faces his demons... Maybe his mom or family can reach what ver ounce of humanity he has left... Maybe this should've went to trial so his demons could've been exposed because 20yrs isn't long enough... The Most High has the final say her family will soon be able to give her that proper burial...
