Philip Wilby (born 1949) is an English composer whose primary credits are having served on the faculty of music at Leeds University for over forty years, and being musical associate to the Black Dyke Band. This short anthem sets a well-known Sarum text (Sarum is an old word indicating that it is in the traditional Salisbury Cathedral) in a familiar form for English anthems. First, a soloist sings the text and melody through once, then the choir picks it up and sings a somewhat embellished version. This text has been set a number of times, most famously by Henry Walford Davies but also by John Rutter.
