WILD BOAR & FALLOW DEER: Photography in the FOREST of DEAN

I've come to the Forest of Dean to see if I can find and photograph Wild Boar and Fallow Deer, both species of which are quite elusive, especially the Wild Boar at this time of year with their piglets.

Got me some nice fallow deer shots with my 300mm just sat at the base of a tree and bucks come right in to 5 metres away until I take a photo and the shutter sends them another 100 metres away tricky deer but always fun

Hi Carl, nice shots! I am curious, are you afraid of wild boars when walking in the forest alone?

I'm not sure it is something I've thought about. I used to trek through the forests of South America on my own and I am sure there were a few things out there that could have attacked me.

Hi Do you know they are fallow not roe? I will try put a grid reference on here for you to see roe in dean

Glad you found the wild boar and got some nice shots! Nice to see a video from the Forest of Dean - my folks live quite near to it but I've not been for several years.. How is that 400/2.8 for carrying about and hand-holding?

The lens is heavy hand held so I usually use a tripod or monopod. It's a fantastic lens though.
