Wild camp above Dovestones Reservoir at Bramley’s Cot. The building is a mystery to local residents and historians around the area. Walked from my town of Ashton Under Lyne along the Huddersfield canal to near Greenfield passing Stalybridge and Mossley. Then heading up to Alphin Pike, Indians Head and Chew Reservoir. Then walking along the tops to Ashway Gap before pitching my tent in the ruined building known as Bramley’s Cot.

Great video mate , I’m originally from carbrook / stalybridge , your route up the canal reminded my of being a kid . Dovestones and Chew was where I first ventured into the wilds , thanks for the reminder 🫡

Great to see wildcamp in the area. I live up brushes rd, 5 mins walk from walker wood. We do have such a great area on our doorstep for getting out into nature with the tent. We are off out this weekend. No idea where we will end up yet but hoping to get on the side of Hobson moor facing over glossop etc to catch a great Sunday morning sunrise

Good to see a local video… I’m originally from Ashton but you practically walked past my house in Saddleworth on this trip… definitely panned past it in some of your footage. I’ve not been up to Chew for a long time… but it has been even longer since I’ve been to Bramley’s Cot… so I k ow where my next wander out may well end up now. Cheers.

Thanks for the comment. Get yourself up there mate. I’ve not been back since I did this video which is about 2 years now. Although I’ve been up to the Trinnacle a few times though. I’ll have to go back as well now. 🤔🤪 Cheers👍🖖

I agree about pushing the comfort zone talking to camera on a walk. I know Ashton Under Lyne, Stalybridge, and Mossley, so recognise most of your scenes. You picked a nice day for your walk.

Hi Ken, it took me about two and a half hours to walk from Ashton to Alphin Pike. I got to Bramley’s Cot where I camped just after 5pm. I left home at 11.30am. It took me just over 4 hours to walk back home the next day. 👍

There’s quite a lot of places up there Karl. Great place for a first wild camp. Sometimes it’s good to go up on a day walk and do some searching so you can find a good place. 👍

You could park in Greenfield or Binn Green car park. Sometimes I park on Friezland Lane. Did you do a camp at Chew Reservoir Karl?
