This very valid point you make may shed some light on his motive to go in person. In a situation where you would want everything documented in writing and email is so efficient, why show up with a camera? There's something else he's looking for here -- my guess is he's hoping to instigate a situation so he can make more claims of his victimization and/or perhaps getting video content to feed his supporters and YT posts. This "I am the victim" playbook is in common use now. If you're truly afraid of the police and prosecutors violating your rights, why are you repeatedly engaging with them in person when you don't need to?

Top ten reasons reasons that Mr. Phillips should not represent himself. 10. Mr. Phillips will lose. 9. Accusations and allegations are not facts. 8. Mr. Phillips neither knows nor understands the words and phrases that are coming out of his mouth. 7. Judge Simpson is too seasoned and intelligent to fall for the old "baffle them with b***s***." 6. Saying "I'm telling the truth" means nothing. 5. Conclusions are not arguments. 4. Confidence is an asset in court; arrogance is a detriment. 3. Admitting that the law does not support the request typically does not lead to a court victory. 2. Attorneys spend three years in law school for a reason. 1. Mr. Phillips is the featured presentation on Law Talk with Mike.

The problem with incompetency is that those who are incompetent are too incompetent to realize that they themselves are incompetent. That's this guy. He's got a very high opinion of himself, and he feels very entitled. He is the definition of a Karen. Frankly, given his hubris, I'm surprised he hasn't dropped hints that if Simpson doesn't rule in his favor, he'll end up removed from the bench.

This is one of the biggest problems I see with anyone trying to ‘argue a case’ whether in court or in life. They offer their conclusion (they violated my civil rights or she assaulted me) as a statement of fact. No, the fact would be they denied my right to a speedy trial. That’s an actual verifiable piece of information that a judge can look at and examine further to help them make a conclusion on your civil rights violation. Or she hit me on my arm. Someone, a police officer or judge or whatever, can then ask relevant questions to determine if you were in fact assaulted and a victim of a crime. But a layperson’s (or even an attorney’s) conclusion does nothing to help a judge make a fair ruling.

True; opinion is not fact. So many pro se defendants also think "argument" equals "evidence." Besides not understanding when argument is properly allowed in a proceeding, they further think that all the unverified statements they make on the record now have the weight of evidence...so they just can't understand why the judge doesn't rule in their favor, you know, because of all this "evidence" they've provided.

I was watching this again, and I'm astounded by how smug and self-satisfied Mr. Phillips appears to be.... to the point where he tries to lecture Judge Simpson on the Constitution. He just rattles off terms and buzz-words with absolutely no understanding of meaning or context. He seems to think that it indicates intelligence, and I can only imagine that this is a method he uses in every facet of his life.

Mr. Philips reminds me of when a toddler is learning to talk and they just put all the words they’ve heard their parents say together into a long chain of babble, not knowing what it means but knowing it must mean SOMETHING bc they’ve heard it before😂 But toddlers eventually learn and move to the next step…this guy stayed stuck there.
