That looked a great wild camp, such pleasing images, just watching the water bottle being filled from natural water was therapeutic in itself to watch. With the winds getting stronger and pegs coming out all the time, I think you made the right decision to get out of risky situation, you never know how strong those winds are going to get, before the tent goes airborne! A while back me and the Mrs had an exciting experience at Llyn Gwynnant. A calm fun day turned into a frightening storm. Towards 9pm, trees were swaying violently above our tent, with tent pegs coming out every few minutes. We became concerned that some youths camping nearby were oblivious to the potential danger falling trees. We assisted him to get these youths to safety in an old barn nearby whilst other campers started leaving the site in droves, abandoning their tents. We got back to the car and parked well away from the tree line. Always appreciate your films..Thanks Joss!

A Proper four season tent you have there Joss but I think you made the right choice to pack up and head back down, I am waiting for the weather to improve so I can get myself back out as I am not geared up for winter camping and not Experienced enough, Exiting stuff to watch, Stay Safe, Les.

Oh man that brings back memories. As you know i was up there twice this time last year, first camp on the summit not a breath of wind all night so thought "what a peaceful range the Carneddau is, but my second trip was as windy as hell. It was the noise that kept me awake. Just had to sit it out..way too far from my van pitching on the flanks of Clogwyn. Beautifully filmed mate, never tire of them views, seriously moody and bleak. Awww, that looks cold and damp...A few suggestions for quick energy boost: use dark brown sugar instead of white sugar for your tea; pack up some walnuts and dates to eat as snacks (you don't have to stop and cook these when you are hiking).

Bit of an epic trip out that one my friend, as we all know it pays due diligence to keep checking the weather report which you did, the weather is unpredictable as you well know and I think you did the right thing packing up and leaving when you did..no point in staying there awake getting more tired and possible tent damage happening , and needing to be more careful heading down...good choice on the expedition food beef and potatoe hotpot it's a favourite of mine ..thanks for sharing atb jj

I have only even been to Snowdonia once when we climbed Snowdon and the weather was pants, so not the best of stays but I would love to go back and see the real beauty of the area. Shame you got the same weather as I remember and I thought you were going to get a lost tent when setting up. Awkward decision to make about walking off in the dark but as you got down in one piece, looks like it was the right one. As a renowned 'fair weather' camper, you just reinforced my belief to only go out in dry, warm and wind free nights lol. Good on you for giving it a go and getting out mind, cheers Alan

Even though the weather wasn't at its best , its always good to be out in the hills . Made the right call getting down before it got too bad . Just wish I could get out but waiting for chest infection to clear up arghhhh atb Dave

Its a pity that the area you where camping in, didn't give you better shelter from the wind. That lake is crying out for a wild swim in summer mate. Love it 😁❤. Catch you soon

A good point made about carrying water, I always look for somewhere along the way or I know there will be water at my chosen pitch. I’ve had those biscuits too they really are quite tasty and filling. Glad you made it safely off the fell, did look a little windy towards the end. ATB mate 👍👍👍

Reminds me of a camp on the summit of Pen yr Ole Wen a couple of years ago. Lovely sunny summers day but late at night, an unexpected gale blew in. It was the only time while wildcamping that I thought I (+ tent) was going to be blown off the mountain!.

There's something about all that grey and cloud that added to the experience. Like a ghoulish atmosphere. Absolutely stunning. Also looks like an epic spot to swim in. I hope there is more content in future and will fire a sub across. ATB, Monty.

Cracking vid mate and so similar to my experiences as recently I've been out however not made vids due to extremely bad weather. Also my pegs have been pulled out quite a bit too so I've reverted back to deltas to ensure im secure to the ground. In the summer I'm going to head down Wales so I'll drop you a msg and hopefully meet up. Anyways thanks for sharing hope all is well. Steve

ahhhh man, that was good, i think you should have stayed though, i was out tuesday night this week and was forcast 50mph, the akto was bending all over the place, i took some video of it I think it went to more than 50mph in the gusts because i could barely stand. I think these tents like the scarp 1 are designed so you can stay out in this weather. You should get some delta pegs, they are big and awkward but not heavy but they dont budge then you can stay out in this weather. I think these tents are designed to flap about to disperse the energy rather than stay still and become a sail. My tent was bending like mental but was fine and i was warm and dry inside. This was fun though but i dont envy you walking down in the dark i bet you had a few difficult moments doing that. sorry long reply, great video.

Yellow delta pegs on ebay. Best peg you will ever need. Won't leave home without them

really atmospheric with the Misty scenery, looked very windy, I had a similar windy camp myself were the pegs got lifted out just before Christmas, it can get a bit worrying when it's that windy, hope you have a great year mate, all the best 👍

Well done Joss but I've got to admit, I'd rather have my nuts nailed to a chair than wildcamp in winter in gales and rain. Especially as you're stuck in a tent in the dark from about half four. I'll admit to being a fair weather camper. Its got to be enjoyable for me. Not a survival mission! Last time I was up there I was climbing on Craig Lloer which you won't have seen in the clag. Did you ever climb there when you were climbing? Kirkus Route is a great three star HVS up there.
