Join me for a solo wildcamp in the beautiful and quiet Rhinog Mountains, just beneath Rhinog Fawr. I had only briefly visited the area before, about 11 years ago, so it was nice to return and exlpor new territory.
Equipment in the video:
Scarp 1 by Tarptent, Sea 2 Summit Comfort Plus Insuilated Sleep Mat and Aeror premium Pillow, Naturehike Goosedown Sleeping Bag, Sawyer Mini Filter.

The first time I got a view of the Rhinogs was from Porthmadog some years ago with Paul and a friend. We knew they were wild then. I'm glad you went back Joss to this wild a rugged place. It sounded as if your soul was satisfied with the return trip. It sue did look fine. Gillian Smith likes it up there to. Good camp and trip. Mark

Cracking one Joss been at that very camp spot biviing out many times, lovely set of mountains and a great walk from Barmouth too, use to take prison lot over that way and camp out, I’m liking the new tent the more I see it 😀

Northwales Bushcrafters thanks Trev yeah its a cracking location. The new tent is a touch heavier than the other one but its so spacious that Im taking it along for a luxury pad. Only downside is it looks like a spaceship when the lights are on.😂 I found a very expensive torch right at the camp spot!

Excellent wildcamp Joss! I’ve not been to that lake yet, looked magical; I know what you mean, always sleep well in the Rhinogydd. Beautiful watching the sun set from the ridge. You even managed a cheeky wild swim too, most excellent! Nice one 👍

Thanks Tracy. I dont mind a few hours of walking so I will park in the nearest, safe place to park, this might be a residential street in the nearby village or somewhere thats tucked away.

stunning as always Joss. I love wales, especially snowdonia. My other loved place is swaledale in Yorkshire, which i planned on doing a wild camp up there. Unfortunately, its under water at present. :-( Thanks for sharing mate. i'm off to llangollen next weekend ( 9th August in camper though. ) if your around, then we can have a brew.

Beautiful untouched countryside there Joss. TFS. What was the sleeping bag like? I know you've stated below that you used a liner too but what do you think it'll be good down to ? Close to 0? ATB Andy GTGO

Got To Get Outdoors thanks Andy.Yeah the sleeping bag is well made. Im not sure if the down is certified as responsibly sourced, It is rated as comfort 8 degrees and 0 extreme. It was a mild night therefore perfect for it.

Great video! Quick question, I’m hoping to visit the same area soon by car and spend the night. Did you prearrange somewhere to park the car or are there places nearby you can just leave the car without worrying about getting a ticket? Cheers

Thanks Wayne. You drive as far as the road will go and there is a car park where you can pay £5 to camp or leave a car overnight👍

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE I was very pleased with it. Very roomy and a great pack-down size. I did use a silk liner but Im sure it would have been fine without👍

mr glamper hi mate, yes theres a car park where the road ends in Cwn Bychan (£5 into a wooden box for overnight) and its just over an hours walk👍
