Polar bears have amazing stamina, this guy is crazy to say that the bear is low on stamina. Polar bears have been known to swim hundreds of miles (in fact one swam for 9 days straight (426 miles, that is equivalent to swimming from Boston to Washington D.C.)). So no, the bear wouldn't tire, nor would it overheat, as long as the fight is in Siberia, or farther north in the Artic.

Only time that fight would take place is if the polar bear us protecting her cubs...the tiger is fast enough to get away so i doubt it would bother risking it's life vs a polar bear.

Polar bears can swim for days at a time to get from one piece of ice to another. In fact, they regularly swim around 30 miles in a stretch, and in one case, up to 220 miles!

Male Polar bear (720 Kg) vs Male Siberian tiger (320 Kg) It's hard to imagine how a siberian tiger could win or not suffer substantial wounds from an encounter with a polar bear. Polar bear is quite different than all the other bears in the way that he sees all the animals as potential preys.

@themadtitan8408 Royal Bengal Tiger can kill them in straight fight. Tiger can take down opposition that are almost 6x larger their own size. Bengal tiger kills saltwater crocodile, Indian Bison, small rhino and small elephants. There is a case where two Bengal tiger killed a full grown elephant. There was another case where a Bengal tiger fought an elephant entire night and died.

However, the polar bear would likely win the battle in a head-to-head fight featuring two fully grown males. Their larger mass, stronger bite force, and greater stamina would allow them to outlast the smaller, weaker tiger.

I've seen western people taking side of polar bears which are just big dogs. A point to be noted that the blows of a tiger is faster than your eyes can catch! A bear would be clawed to the death if they fought. Cats are evolved to kill animals some 5 to 6 times bigger than them

@@johnycakes6613 the tiger hunts in water as well and will even eat crocodiles . If these two would meet head on in the wild they wouldn’t even fight. Both would know they could get ducked up so they most likely wouldn’t fight. Unless the bear was in the tigers territory or the bear had cubs, if it’s either of these situations they would fight to the death and the bear would win probably 8/10.

@@adamcooper9741 funny given that there aren’t any crocodilians live in Siberia or Russia’s Far East. So now I assume you mean tigers generically. Even then I typically disagree, I know some big cats can pick off smaller crocs and alligators, but crocs can hit over 2,000 pounds. I doubt tigers attack them. On top of that, we are talking about polar bears living among ice drifts, which means they won’t have the easiest access to solid land or ice as a tiger would use. Attacking from in water versus driving prey into water is a lot different. Cats are well known to drive prey into water typically. Polar bears will still take it in my mind. Hunting from in the water is typical of polar bear habits. The tiger surely does but not as much. This only exemplifies the power behind a polar bear. And even then polar bear are more likely to get pushed off by grizzly bears ironically.

Grizzly bears are more formidable fighters than polar bears, and almost as large. Polar bears almost always flee from large brown bears. Kodiak bears are larger than polar bears and are THE apex land predators.

The difference between the polar and brown bear is that the brown won’t view the tiger as prey. They lose because they are defensive in nature. A polar bear views everything living as prey, including a tiger. He wouldn’t fight defensively, he’d fight to make it his next meal.

Polar Bear for sure. Even a grizzly would take a Tiger. Sloth bears have been known to keep tigers at bay here and there. In a battle where it wouldn’t be an ambush and the Polar and Tig both go at it and are ready, the tiger is lucky to win 1/10.

The polar bear would win 9/10 in my opinion. I give the tiger a 1/10 chance for its surprise effect, but if it misses, which is highly likely when faced with an animal as powerful and armed as the polar bear, then its greatest weapon falls by the wayside. I also think that a grizzly bear (which is a subspecies of brown bear, not to be confused with the 2 subspecies of Siberian brown bear which are comparable in size to the polar bear) would win 6/10 against a Siberian tiger if it were to meet. This is due to its slightly greater size/weight, stamina, bite strength and resistance, thanks to the added thickness of its fur, fat and skin. The data on tigers that have killed adult bears doesn't take into account the size of the animals, so we can't know if it was balanced. If tigers kill adult bears, it's a priori mainly females, which are smaller. With pleasure

Tiger Is more powerfull than a bear. Bear has more stamina and a stronger push. Tiger has a stronger paw swipe, believe me. It's a draw because you can't take a siberian Tiger down. The bear Is still heavier and bigger without the fat mass, but more slim body in the case of the Polar.

Tigers always attack from behind and go for a spine break at the back of the neck. The tiger will hang on the polar bears back with his claws while using his back legs to turn the bear into a scratching post. The tiger has the agility but only if the tiger totally screwed up would the polar bear win.

I was kinda expecting that they might speculate who would win in different scenarios. Like a male Siberian tiger vs a female polar bear. Also a land fight versus an encounter in the water. All in all I’d have to say as much as I like the Siberian tiger, the polar bear would probably win. It’s way bulkier and could easily incapacitate a tiger with a swing from one of it’s colossal paws and the force behind it.

It takes about 3 adult female lions to kill a cape buffalo meanwhile one adult male Tiger can take down a water buffalo (Which is slightly smaller than the cape) with relative ease. A weak and starving polar bear has been recorded grabbing an adult beluga by it's tail and tossing it from the water on to dry land with just it's 2 front paws, tigers are strong but they don't have nearly as much strength as a polar bear, the lack of the bears agility can be made up by it's ability to stand up right on 2 legs simply pivoting while the tiger has to run a full circle to get behind it, if the tiger charges straight in to tackle the bear it's going to catch the meanest stiff arm in the animal kingdom.

The polar bear has a huge advantage over a brown bear, and that is as stated in the video, they have a layer of blubber to insulate them. This, together with a tough skin, means vital parts are almost impossible to reach for the teeth of the tiger. So the brown bear is much easier to kill for a tiger than a polar bear. So im with the bear on this one.

Actually it's recorded that Grizzilies bullies them usually when they occasionally meet at Whale carcasses etc. Grizzlies are more robust and aggressive. OBVIOUSLY polar bears are larger on average but size isn't always the factor to judge off! It would take a extremely bold, hungry or stupid Tiger to attack a Polar bear as it's just not worth the risk of becoming prey lol

Most male brown bear kills happen when they are sleeping so it’s not really fair to say that killing a brown Bear is easier in a straight up fight brown bears actually mostly always kill the tiger

Both a Polar and grizzly bear would kill a tiger in a head on fight most of the time. And Grizzlies and brown bears in general have the strongest forelimbs of any predator. This is why they have humps on their backs and which is also why they are insane wrestlers. They would probably grapple the tiger to the ground if it got the chance and the tiger wouldn't be able to overpower it.

yeah well guess what. tigers use their agility get behind the tiger and bite into the neck, probably end up bleeding out the polar or suffocating it from that position. smaller necks they snap, smaller skulls they bite into and crush.

The one winning is whoever reaches the throat first, considering their respective killing weapons. Bear is heavier but Tiger is much faster, agile and explosive. So it would probably be near 50/50 if we'd run the experiment many times.

People seem to forget the tiger has one burst of agility per fight. Being faster is cool and all but if your 1 strike doesnt down the opponent who has twice the size and power and stamina as you(even if its still low) then you lose 9/10 times. And that 1 strike is generally only successful in ambush situations. Tigers are not made for extended fights. A polar bear has no issue taking on a full grown walrus HEAD ON whose teeth i may add WILL kill a max sized sib tiger. Having large teeth does not mean your bite is stronger it means your teeth are designed for something other than biting extremely hard. Dogs and bears have the most powerful bites because their teeth are designed to crush spines and bones. Tigers teeth are designed to pierce throats and never let go...

This has happened before an incident in a Circus were a Siberian tiger did kill a polar bear the tiger has broke the polar bears spine. There is a news article from 1909 I believe of a North African Lion killing a Polar Bear, I believe both animals were part of a circus group and the Lion managed to sever a main artery of the Bear causing it to bleed out and die. The ages of both animals is unclear from the article however.

The Polar Bear is going to have the same advantage as other bears, where the tigers seem to work better with a sneak attack. Most Bears go at it with a direct approach. Most cats of any species tend to retreat when they have been hurt or weakened, where the bears usually get enraged and crazy and generally charge the reason that caused the pain. So, with all that being said,you would have to give it to any descent size bear every time;)

It depends on the individual bear and tiger. Some tigers will kill some bears, some bears will kill some tigers. They are all unique. Most polar bears and Siberian tigers would probably avoid each other, it's just not worth the risk.

You are right. And honestly the fight would only happen if it was a wandering polar bear walking upwind unbeknownst towards a tiger. The polar bear would probably be starving in that situation and be easy prey for the tiger. 2000 years ago things might have been different though their territories could have resulted in a situation like you said with two healthy predators and the bear would 100% stand on its hind legs and scare away the tiger.

If they met in the wild, they would probably exhibit some threatening posture and avoid one another, but in a real fight, a full grown male polar bear would be too much for any tiger to handle, aside from a weight and strength advantage, the bears have a lot more stamina, known to chase prey for miles, while cats have energy for quick burst and tire easily.

If they got into a real fight (predators of this size would avoid one another in real life), the tiger would not have the stamina to beat that bear or teeth to penetrate that bulk. There is a video of a large Tiger struggling with a sloth bear half its size, imagine it trying to content with a grizzly that can be 2 or 3 times as large as the tiger. Cats have very little energy as they are ambush predators. Bears are omnivores, but when they want meat they chase down a moose for miles, you are not going to see a big cat run for more than a 100 yards.

I'd say 80% bear and 20% tiger. Polar bears, unlike other species of bears, don't get afraid of humans and other animals. In fact, they see us as prey, not as a threat! Plus it's a little taller, heavier and stronger than any other bear and it would kill anything that comes its way, just to be able to feed on it, while brown bears for example mostly fight for mating rights and just hunt, if there isn't anything else available to eat, like plants, fish and insects or so. I think the polar bear wouldn't have too much of a hard time dealing with a tiger, since it can kill large animals like walruses and even beluga whales. The tiger could possibly kill a brown bear by stealth and jumping it from behind using the element of surprise, but I don't think, that would work on a polar bear, because like I said it isn't afraid of anything and would take the challenge head on to make a meal out of the tiger. But it always depends on the individuals! A full grown male siberian tiger with a lot of fighting and hunting experience, which already hunted, fought and killed large animals like brown bears could very well beat a polar bear in a fight.

In this fight, the circumstances of the encounter will determine the winner. If they're fighting near the poles, then the bear will more than likely either spot or smell the tiger coming which pretty much guarantees it's win. If its in a tiger habitat however, imagine if the big cat got a drop-down attack on the bear or blind leap attack with huge momentum. That would give it a big advantage right off the bat. Either way, no clear winner here and everything is circumstance, both have the potential to easily kill the other given different circumstances.

This would definitely be a great matchup but it comes down to the approach to the fight. Both are capable of beating each other.. it’s 50/50

Kinda seemed like a cop-out. For my money, I'm going with the polar bear. Way too many things need to right for the tiger. Ambush is necessary (exactly as the vid suggests); but bears have insane sense of smell. And even with the ambush the bear is far bigger and stronger, complete with much more natural armor. If that cat doesn't end the fight before the bear knows what hit it - no small feat - the bear is going to overpower the cat.

It would absolutely be the polar bear. This channel was kind of iffy to me but this one was just poorly done. This is such a commonly speculated matchup and it is generally agreed the tiger would have almost no chance.

I agree with you on everything but the sense of smell. Almost all prey animals of the tiger have a great sense of smell. Tigers are smart enough to stay hidden and downwind to hide their scent. I still think the Polar Bear would win in a fight. As you said an ambush might not even work. In the animal kingdom one on one in a faceoff the larger animals win way more then they lose.

For example, black bears can weigh up to 600 pounds, but mountain lions weigh up to 150 pounds, but yet mountain lions eat black bears, so by comparison of that size difference, a 700 pound tiger should logically be able to eat a 1500 pound polar bear.

@@jacobsmith2285 that’s not true. There is documented fights between small Asiatic bears and tigers that are pretty even, favoring the bear. Even if cats and bears are the same size, bear are much more powerfully built and hardy. A tiger has absolutely no chance against a polar bear.

Bears have incredible ability to smell their prey. I don’t know how a Tiger isn’t smelled by the bear. Very unlikely that there would be a surprise attack. I go with the Polar Bear.

A crocodile would easily get eaten by a grizzly bear because jaguars eat crocodiles all the time in the wild and a bear can eat any cat

@N Word I can’t take you seriously with that name, but I have been studying feline behaviour for about five years and I can say that you’re partially right. It is true that his argument is wrong, a bear won’t «eat any cat». But a Jaguar will beat any crocodilian in my opinion. Its sheer strength is nearly unmatched.

You didn't mention the incredible smell of the Polar Bears. They can smell humans from 16km distance. I'm not sure about the smell of tigers, but the nose of the Polar Bear would reduce the chances of being ambushed by a tiger significantly.

I would think a fight between these beautiful animals would mostly come down to luck as they're pretty well equally matched so the first one to make a bad mistake would most likely lose. But man it would be a vicious brawl!!

Polar bears can smash through sheets of ice to get to seals, their skin is thick, and they have a layer of blubber. A tiger would have a hard time hurting it, and if it gets hit, I wish the tiger good luck. The bear would get pretty badly hurt, but the bear easily takes the win.

A polar bear would win easily even Himalayan black bear sometimes gives huge challenge to Bengal tiger. It doesn't win but doesn't let the tiger eat it either.

Bengal Tigers are about 67% the size of a siberina, dunno the size comparison between those bears. Polar bears are massive units, but aren't as well build as brown bears for combat with other big predators.

The Siberian Tiger is a beautiful animal but the Polar Bear would definitely win, if each animal was full grown and healthy the Polar bear would most definitely kill the Tiger if it wanted to ~ that is the truth if you care to know.

Brown bears rarely exceed 390kg tho, so lets say the bears the tiger eat are around 350kg, and the tiger is around 215kg, that is a 135kg difference (we would assume larger male tigers pray on smaller brown bears, but we will give them the benefit in this example) The largest wild polar bear on record weighed 1002kg, and the largest wild tiger on record weighed 388kg. That is a 614kg difference.

Tigers generaly go for the throat to make a kill, where as bears bite what ever body part they get hold of and tear pounds flesh from foe or victim causing shock blood loss, ligament and muscle damage. On sheer size strength aggression and stamina, I would say the polar bear would almost always win.

A Siberian Tiger is a great fighter and hunter in Russia but if it has to fight a polar bear it would have no chance. The tiger was built to be a silent hunter combining agility with power to bring down large prey. The polar bear is built to be a bulky tank,they are not as agile as a tiger and they don't have those awesome stealth skills but their strenght is far bigger than any tiger. I love tigers and i'm so sad to admit this... Polar Bear would win 100/100 fights.

Polar are also very stealthy hunters, their coat also allows them to also blend to their surroundings often swimming up to victims lying on ice or keeping low approaching their prey.

Good analysis, of course I believe that the Polar Bear has a slight advantage in this fight, even if it is very disputed. Tigers are very strong, and if you use the element of surprise to your advantage, you can win, otherwise it would be more difficult for him to kill the Polar Bear.

Siberia actually has both Brown Bears and Siberian tigers. The Tigers usually win most fights about 3:1. A few tigers are so good they specialize in hunting bears. A polar bear is of course different to a brown bear.

I saw a video of a tiger having a hard time with a small sloth bear. The bear survived. Those two were more equally matched it seemed. I’d say Polar Bear has the edge here

@@mark-ch2bx I don’t think the 150lbs is going to make much of a difference against a polar bear. It’s just a totally different class of animal. Polar bears kill and eat whales that weigh 3000+lbs, tigers eat “large bodied prey weighing about 45lbs”. Just a comparison as to what these animals call prey..
