As for the title "Queen of the Jungle", I would have to vote tigress, as they sometimes actually live in jungles and forests whereas illnesses don't.

Having seen the tigresses rule territories in India (Queens of ranathambore) keeping even the bigger males at bay, I would say tiger has an upper hand in tis fight.

Well, I've always said that the ferociousness of a lioness is unmatched. But, because tigress lives on her own, and will fight her own mother for territorial area. I'd have to give a head's up to the female tiger. And to be honest with you, I really don't think it'll be close. Mark me down for the tiger.

I think it probably really comes down to one thing: If lions get hurt, they’re used to kinda stepping down, knowing others will take care of them. Tiger don’t have that luxury. I think Tiger would probably go straight for the kill, knowing that any kind of significant injury would probably be the end of them. But, it depends on the individual.

I gotta go with the tigress,considering it hunts alone and it takes on prey like buffalo and crocodile,it’s aggression has to be off the charts to take down prey like that alone whereas the lioness hunt in groups and still have trouble taking down their prey.

I think both have a chance against each other but to me, in my opinion, given that lions hunt way more often in a pride, while tigers hunt alone, I feel like that may give a tiger/ tigress a slight upper hand against a lion/ lioness. but that's just me.

I believe people are underestimating the strength and power of a lioness. They can be extremely fierce and dominant when they wanna be! Tigresses are similar in size to lionesses, of course. I believe the fight could go either way.

They both are almost of the same weight and are very strong but I would say tigress win 60% of the time as it hunts alone everytime and it's limbs are stronger than that of a lioness

Since I am from India & know both of them nicely one from Bengal & other from Gujarat ...I will say the Bengal tigress will win 8/10 times coz of much more aggressions , stronger bite force & stronger hind legs ..They have been recorded to kill 800 kg Indian Gaurs single handedly with ease ...

As a former high school wrestler who now enjoys the occasional run, I doubt that a lioness's greater chasing endurance really translates into greater one-on-one fighting endurance. Two very different kinds of fatigue.

I think in a fight it is always going to come which cat gets the first strike in. I pick tigress who I think would win about 65% of fights .

Even though I like tigers a bit more than lions I don't like how bias many are towards tigers , they act like tigers are Gods that can kill elephants. In reality lions and tigers weigh around the same in the wild and same with the females as well. It's an extreamely close fight and I'd bet on 50-50 or 55 percent on the tiger but definitely not more than that , people are so ignorant and biased

Only thing i would add is lions grow up in communities fighting all their lives and will have MORE experience than a tiger when it comes to fighting.

I think the most obvious about who is Queen of the Jungle is which species actually lives in the jungle. That alone has to go to the Tigress. I mean even if she is weaker than the Lioness she is still Queen of the Jungle by default.

Lioness hss been known to take down an eland, wildebeest and zebra alone and better stamina, so you can't deny that lioness is a poorer solo hunter than a tigress, they are both equally good hunter and killer, they are both very agile

Tigress got this. It’s bigger, stronger, a better solitary predator, has the durability to stand on two legs and use both front paws to swing, and have a heavier swipe force. If both were to fight in a pit or cage, the favor will go in the tigress; now if the fight is prolonged, then the tigress will gas out and this in turn will go in the favor of the lioness. Each would bring specific advantages... Lioness... Like a male lion, a female would be taller and thus have greater reach and thus allow it to keep the fight at a distance. A lioness would also come in with a more aggressive temperament than a tigress which ultimately comes from its social lifestyle. Solitary cats generally try to avoid conflict wherever possible because of the risk of major injury. However, because lions live in groups and can get the benefit of help when injured, even lionesses will be more aggressive in terms of dealing with outsiders on the pride's territory, regardless of the species of the intruder. This has often meant that even lionesses outside the pride have been at risk of being attacked by the females of the pride... even if this unrelated female hooks up with the pride male. Tigress... With the Bengal and Siberian subspecies, the most obvious advantage would be in size. A Bengal Tigress will be slightly heavier than an African Lioness, and a Siberian Tigress even larger than that. A lot of this will come from denser muscle that is packed around a more compact frame. Which in turn would mean that while a tigress would be shorter in height, once it can close the distance, its punch is MUCH stronger. It would also need to be a far more capable combatant, for while tigers typically may seek to avoid conflict within their species, because they are solitary... if they can't find a way to avoid the fight, they'd need to be fierce enough to win as losing would then mean death. And ultimately this would favor the tigress. Why to compare with Lioness's ? If Tigress give hard time and often maul Male Lions , There is no comparison.

People keep bringing up irrelevant nonsense like hunting ability,prey and aggressiveness. Much more significant is the animals build structure. The subtle differences in build structure is much more important. Even if the cats are the same size the tigress is more robust, has bigger legs, claws and teeth and is more agile in a confined space, all big advantages.

Lioness's always travel in a pride. They would easily kill the tiger, or chase it up a tree lol. The lioness also lives in a much more aggressive habitat, with hyenas, and other apex predators constantly giving them competition. Not to mention they have to deal with Honey 🍯 Badgers rudeness.

Correction, lioness can pull down large pray by themselves. There just is no need when I'm a pride. Lions can fight on 2 feet is just not their style of fighting. Tigers are more feline in behavior. They have faster hands like a house cat. Lions wrestle and fight from their backs. Due to the fact they have to chase their pray. 2 different methods.

I don't know, tigeress is stronger but the lioness has more stamina/energy which means it can fight longer. I think the tigeress just has too many advantages for the lioness to overcome. But probably a lioness could win maybe two or three times out of ten with the stamina advantage.

Definitely the tigress! An animal that hunts alone successfully has to have an incalculable advantage over a group or pack hunting animal. And if the battle were to happen at night, in pitch darkness, where the tigress hunts habitually, how much more advantaged would our Asian feline be? Or if the battle terrain happened to be a pond or a swamp? No question, as tigers are great swimmers. Or, for that matter, snow, in the case of the Siberian tiger? Again, tigers come out on top. What terrain would particularly advantage the lioness? Open savanna, I suppose, in a hot, sun scorched environment. In such surroundings, maybe the lioness could outlast the tigress in terms of stanima. If the tigress hit her redline & became utterly exhausted, that could be the lion's one great chance.

This would be a very close fight but i think tiger has the win of 55% of the time because it is more aggressive, slightly stronger/muscular and has better fighting style and reflexes, that is to stand on its strong hindlegs and use both of its front paws continously at the same time whereas lioness uses one only front paw and has weaker hindlegs!

Also, the lioness is not just a pack hunter , hunger and the cubs needs drive her to hunt alone when she has to . Overall the tigress is majestic and deadly but far as brawn,brain, lifestyle (and or duties ), the Lioness is hands down Queen of the jungle. Fighting , cub rearing, brain, social structure makes the female lion a jack of all trades.

There are so many advantages about a tiger.... I wouldn't really know where to start. I think the biggest advantage is it's balance on their 2 'hind leg's in a fight which any sort of lion is not very good at.

A tigeress would win nearly every time, a male tiger can kill a make lion quite easily and I've seen it, so for a tigress against a female lion it would end about the same, in my opinion, and the fact that a tigress can stand on 2 hind legs and attack with both front paws and the lioness cannot gives a signicant advantage to the tigress, buy I've also seem a sloth bear with a cub take on a tiger nearly twice the bears size and the bear got the better of the tiger and chased it off, so size doesn't necessarily equate to a win, even though the bear was fighting to protect its cub

It is matter of who got the army behind her… of course. Otherwise it is a matter of subspecies, experience and grit. There are subspecies of both tiger and lion.
