Besides the bigger size, mass and power, I guess the biggest advantage the tiger has over the lion is to stay on his hind legs while fighting with both front paws at the same time, while the lion has to have 3 legs on the ground while fighting with one. And if you have ever seen the forearms of a tiger, jesus, these are rocket launchers. Bombarding your opponents head with lethal blows from both bazookas, while being superior in mass, size and power at the same time, there is not much room for the lion to win this fight one on one. BUT, a lion is never alone, as we all know :P

Tigers try to avoid conflict since any injury can severely limit hunting ability. Male lions on the other hand are born warriors and hardly hunt. They defend their pride and territory and takeover other prides and territories regularly getting into fights. So, in the wild, the tiger will probably move away whereas a lion will fight for its domain.

As much as I love lions, you gotta give it to the Tiger this time, I mean come on, lions might put up a good fight and may even kill it, but my money would be on the Tiger.

Lions are the king of Beasts and beat tigers on a regular basis regardless of size difference.. As far as bears go, they are also self preserving and cowardly.. Bears back down from dogs and would only have a chance to beat a lion in a severely unbalanced and forced conflict.. In a natural format lions would have pride and be much like a pack of wolves but on steroids.. Bears like tigers are typically loners and their psychological behavior is also very similar, they are both scavengers and opportunistic hunters.. While lions on the other hand, use strategic tactics to hunt prey and have every confidence to challenge fights head on.. Tigers and bears generally show aggressiveness only from behind or when in threatened circumstances.. Most often for reasons like being startled or to protect their young.. However, I absolutely agree that a grizzly bear wins against the tiger based on the bear's fighting endurance advantage.. Tigers don't have the endurance to compete with hyenas, wolves, bears, or lions..

Two things more. Typically sib has stronger forearms. But also, lion's neck and belly are armored by heavy mane, so tiger has nowhere to bite or scratch. Only perhaps to try breaking his neck by heavy thump, or crippling him and then proceed.

i have seen a tiger face to face. i was in a resort near corbett national park, i went out just for a walk and i saw a tiger just casually walk in the middle of it road. before i could get a heart attack or piss my pants he just went back to bushes. it was not some very remote area but couple of small roadside shops where there.

Why does everybody think lions don’t fight on their back feet, this is also another myth because I’ve seen it with my own eyes when two adult male lions go at it they are on their back feet palling with both Paws and it is quite impressive. You don’t only see the fight you hear and feel the fight because the roars are so deep and immense

As someone who has been involved in “Game dogs” back when it was not yet illegal and Game Birds still to this day where it is tradition and legal, i can tell you that it is the individual that matters the most. It can be argued that you can pick the best representative for the siberian and the best reprasentative of the biggest lion. If the lion because of its mane and constant sparring or having practice fights with its comrades it can win against the bigger stronger tiger. However if you pick a siberian tiger and school it by pitting it against lions in controlled practice fights assuming it can be done and he gets or acquires the skills he needs to fight a battle hardened lion, then his advantage in size and athleticsm may give him the edge because Tigers even the smaller ones are pound for pound more athletic to lions of compareable size. In short it depends as said on the individual, the training, skill, power, and a little bit of luck.

The problem here is- the Tigers favorite kill move to a bite to the neck breaking the opponents/preys neck in the process. The 2nd attack of a Tiger would be the good old-fashioned go for the throat strike. The Lions mane would prove to be both protection and confusing for the Tiger. I would like to share an important point of view : The Barbarian lion is the biggest and strongest of all the lion species but not the ultimate warrior, since this specie has no experience of battles as other lion species have because of the population in their habitants . Barabry lion was a solitary or lived in small groups, so most likely clashes were less rare. So , I say that other species of lions from the middle of the continent has much better advantage against tiger (in similar or not distinct difference) . Lions are killer machine , not stalker as tiger is , but with its mane coat against deadly neck grab (the ultimate weapon of the tiger) , the odds are not so bad ;) . As i always say, lion vs tiger is a risky fight for both. In a close range fight where the space is tight the tiger may lose. He will not be able to fight defensively and will have less choices. This is where the lion will have abit of advantage cause his neck is unbitable. BUT, in a spacy arena sort of thing, as per your ancient story (if its true), then the tiger will have advantage too as he can backup easily and uses his only technic "harms". Put in mind the tiger can only kill the lion by causing him multiple injuries in the face with his defensive style (if the lion is careless), but this after a very longgg fight as lion skin in deep. There is no other way, however the lion can kill the tiger in many ways and in ever situation (if well attacked). "Anyway i doubt about your arena's story, cause where there's big space, the tiger always try to escape as first option.
