Performance: Tested in the Canadian Rockies for glacial travel and alpine objectives; waterproof with North Face's Futurelight nanospun membrane allowing breathability without compromising waterproofing, tape-sealed seams, and a durable water repellency coating.
Design: Includes massive pit zips for airflow, YKK Aqua guard waterproof zips, stitch-free design on shoulder tops to prevent backpack pressure points or rubbing, and made of 100% recycled 70 denier nylon for abrasion resistance.
Hood & Pockets: Hood is oversized and helmet-compatible but can be too big without a helmet; pockets are high and harness-compatible, and there are cinches for adjusting the hood and jacket hem, though they're oddly located inside the jacket.
Weight & Durability: Weighs around 600 grams for a large size, making it on the heavier side for lightweight hard shells but offers more protection during rough alpine conditions.

I have this jacket and it is NOT waterproof. Went for a walk in wet snow and half hour in, it was soaked, shoulders, sleeves and back. It was just couple months old at the time. Unfortunately it is the same for my other Futurelight jackets. Light rain, yes, waterproof. Moderate rain for 30+ minutes and it soaks through.
