It was really impressive to see all these helicopters being put to work, definitely a job with a lot of risks. Last summer was really bad around British Columbia for wildfires and the budget for fighting them was shot and the resources were definitely stretched. In years to come, as the temperatures seem to be rising, it could get pretty nasty!

I can well believe it too. That seems to be the trend unfortunately, whether it be floods,widlfires or other avertable potential disasters they're always given second priority in budgets. Such a shame.

Its a Bell 412 with a belly tank. Just another tool to use. They all have their place. The tanks are good for building line, but they are heavy and can't carry as much internal cargo due to weight restrictions, they also have to be carful where they land in the bush because of the low clearance, a stump could cause damage. The Bambi is good for getting the water down low into the canopy and spot dropping, it also is better for filling bladders for the firefighters . The medium with the yellow bucket is called a fast bucket. It is another manufacturer that gives the pilot the option to release a bit of the water at a time, like multiple targets. Unlike a straight Bambi bucket that lets all the water go at once, but really just does the same thing as a bambi.

It was a pretty bad one. Luckily the weather improved and it moved away from houses and no one was hurt or property damaged.
