Georgia zones 7a-b. Lantana does great here! It dies back in winter, especially in north Georgia. But it always comes back! One bush was 6 ft last year. This prunning video will really help! My lantana was full of multiple species of pollinators last summer. Win-win!

@@WildFloridian Great Video. I'm new to Lantana Camera. I'm in Missouri, am thinking I will have to bring it indoors for winter. I'm wondering if it it poisonous to cats ?. It gets cold enough here to keep it from being invasive ?. It grew alot although potted.

My husband has no mercy with the lantana plant and leaves them bare. The first time he did it I thought he had killed it. I was so mad! But it comes back stronger and blooms more!

Thank you for sharing this, Ma'am. I live in FL, and I have a Lantana plant that's way too leggy.. This video taught me how to fix that and prune properly. I have a lot of butterflies, and they love the Lantana, so I want them to really have a lot of flowers. Thank you for sharing this information with us Lantana lovers. 🥰

I'm from east northIndia and it's quite common here especially in river side, and it stays for ever, my mom broke small branch kind of and planter it, now it's huge with flowers like everyone day. So i just searched it on google and found your video, 😶‍🌫 y m i telling that

Excellent video. I love in zone 7b, west central Alabama. I've seen other lantanas that made it thru our winter but I'm just now (mid-September) planting two that I got on sale. I have one bandana lantana already established since spring and it's doing very well. I figure I'll mulch for winter but I thought about surrounding them with piles of pine straw when it freezes. Do you think it will come back in spring if it dies back? How should I care for them come freezing weather? Thank you.

The big chunks you took while pruning, could you do that during the hot summer. In AZ and ours are massive and need to be cut down.

Great job! While I was growing up here in the 60-70’s lantana used to grow wild in the orange groves. It was hard for me to buy a weed. LOL

I'm in SC, have established Lantana. This year leaves were turning brown & lacy, then drying up. Hardly any flowers all summer. I usually cut back in winter when they die back. It looks like there may be a tiny bug on it. So tiny I can barely see. I'll try more water & some mulch. Thanks!

I’m on Zone 8 (central Alabama) and it dies back completely every year. I cut it all the way down when it’s completely dead, and it grows back every spring. Sadly, I have the bad kind, which the bees and butterflies do love, but I’ve never seen them pop up anywhere, and we have a ton of birds. This year they’re thick mounds with few flowers. ?? Since it’s late July, is there anything I can do to help it until I can get our native type?

Thank you so much for your advice! I am in Parkville, MO and my lantana has flowered and exploded all over my front garden. They are beautiful. I am just wondering if they will keep throughout the winter... I know it said it was an annual when I bought them, but after reading a bit, I wonder if they will survive. Any tips?!?!

Purchased a house in Ocala area, went back north for the summer, came back to this all my shrubs, can I keep the lantana without it overtaking everything else

Depends what type of Lantana it is. Lantana camara and Lantana montevidensis are aggressive growers. Lantana stingocamara I think isn't quite as aggressive. Lantana depressa and White Lantana is slower and should be fine. Hope that helps Don!

@@WildFloridian thanks for the feedback. Got a new yard work guy, showed him what I came back to last October, he promised to keep it under control. Hated to cut it down because the dozens of butterflies love it but it was crushing everything. Hope he will keep it better than the last guy.

Ok so I was so inspired to run out and prune my lantanas (yay) uhhm... well I got out there and they're dead, so now what? What part of Florida are you in?

I’m in 9b/10a. So on the one hand, YAY, for inspiration. And on the other hand, on no, that is sad to hear that the Lantana is dead. If you are northern Florida, it may have died back. And may still bounce back. But they are tropical plants and it may be a goner. ☹️
