Cody, the best way to get an accurate reading with Kestrel weather meters is to hang them in the shade of the vegetation your working in for several minutes then read them. They are so sensitive that standing in direct sun, on pavement, or even a gravel driveway will affect the reading. Been a busy fire season here n Northern California also, keep up the good work and stay safe.

I'm an aspiring wildland firefighter (I just finished S-130 and S-190 and will be doing many prescribed burns this year) so I absolutely love seeing this kind of stuff. Even if it doesn't seem like much, I'm excited to see all the things my instructor has been talking about in play on a fire. Thanks for your work and keep it up!

Loving these videos, I'm from Australia so seeing how firefighting is done elsewhere is most interesting. Had volunteer crews from your part of the world help out in fires near where I live and vice versa too. A man or woman who volunteers to risk their life to protect other peoples property from fire like you do is a real hero in my book.

I have a special love for that area, for those people, and for the work you guys are doing. Thank you so much for all your work, it's been a couple days since you posted this and I've been following all the progress closely. It looks like you guys are really getting some work done, and I hope they can get it all contained. Afterwards, I hope the people of this state start to realize that we are allowing certain individuals to mismanage our forests and that's what leads to issues like these.

Wow, nice 1st house. Easily defensible. Nice job by homeowner. A quick spray down prior to the flame front with some foam to increase the moisture uptake into the wood, and that looks like winner with little work. The other homes, you guys got some work... Thanks for sharing this. I am going to watch this with my crew at the FD and talk about what you showed. Many of them have never deployed. This is a great tool!!! Cody, would you mind doing a video about how a homeowner could create a defensible space according to what you've learned while being a wildland firefighter?
