This is really cool. I'm doing a 1UZ/R150 in my 93 4Runner and a 2UZ/H42 in my 65 FJ40. You are correct about wiring. If you just slow down and study the diagrams, it falls into place. People freak out way too much over wiring.

Do a timing belt water pump and starter service while you have the engine out.

Looks good. I 1uz swapped my 91 a few years ago. Go big with your radiator... there’s not much airflow through the engine bay once that v8 is all up in there. I had to sink the engine up and back, and push the radiator forward so I could run a spal 16” puller fan. When I dropped the 1uz into the engine bay with a clutch on it, it fit by about a quarter inch. I didn’t want to cut the upper rad support out.

Make sure you check those exhaust manifolds. They crack on the first two cylinders. If you need some headers I have brand new jba headers I bought for my tundra that I never installed . 3/8 flanges and thick tubing. I payed 500 bucks for them years ago and ill let them go for very cheap . Have the gasket set and bolts and I am located in Kamloops . I just subbed to the channel just found it so keep the content coming :)

Please do the timing belt while it's out, thats the only downside other than fuel consumption on the rock solid 2uz, since its an interference engine you dont wanna skip a tooth on the timing belt or else you'll lose a valve or two. Other than that this is an amazing swap best of luck!!

How did you figure out what to delete out of the Ecu I’m doing a 1uz in place is my 7mge in my 86. Wiring is my weak point lol

Where did you find the wiring diagrams? Also the 4 pin connector that controls the alternator...what does it attach to?

I'm wondering about the amount you had to move the engine back. No bell housing on the transmission, you could lose all that room with one on. If not cool but you would have to move your entire drivetrain back, not to mention new drive shaft up front and shorten the rear. Also make a new large hole in the floor board for the shifters. So a door off s 89'-95' pickup will not fit a first gen tacoma 96'-05'? by a little. The roof seems a little higher and the front is more forward or the b pillar is moved back a little. Been looking into a cab and bed swap on my 93' bodied 84' truck and I want to get rid of the 4cly, toss up being a 3.4 or a v8. First gen Tacoma's aren't to different from pickups on the inside of the cab dimensions wise. Looks like most if the interior will transfer over say extended cab to extended, exterior dimensions changed, but the frame dimensions seem to have stayed the same up until 2nd gen.

Time to track down a supercharger for the 2 uz now 😛

This is such an important build for me. I have an 89 FJ62 and have been thinking of doing the same thing but you’re right about the wiring; that part is nerve racking. I already have a h55f, should a 2UZ be able to bolt up to that?

Not sure what your emissions requirements are up in CA, do you have any plans for dealing with the ECU throwing codes from the missing auto trans? Your making me want to do this!

So I've got an ambitious idea, 3UR swap. Im wondering if the bell housing bolt pattern is the same as the 2UZ. Do you know if the R150 adapter you are going to use would work on a UR engine? It seems that Toyota likes to keep the bell housing bolt patterns the same across engines, but I'm not sure.
