I have said this before...when Jeff Luhnow left to GM the Astros he took a lot of the cardinals scouting and development staff. Since then, the cardinals evaluation and development of players has gone too crap.

100% this. Baseball fans who don't follow the Cardinals closely don't realize this team has been trending down since 2014. Last time they won a playoff series was in 2019. Since 2014 they've won 5 playoff games.

You guys are wrong about Mozeliak… he hired the worst manager in baseball Mike Matheny. He did trade for Arenado and Goldschmidt. I will point to the death of Oscar Taveras sending Mozeliak into a tailspin. Almost every desperation move made in the last decade can be traced back to this incident. Mozeliak will be gone after 2025. Cardinals fans will have to suffer through this Front office. It also doesn’t help when the Owners entitled son laughs at the St. Louis fans for being fed up with a decade of mediocrity. While he holds his hand out asking for a half a billion dollar tax abatement. Its time for this front office to change! #firedumbassmozeliak

The organization slapped the fanbase in the face by giving Marmol, who is very unpopular, an unnecessary extension after a last place finish. Everyone is tired of Mozeliak, and they have a lousy product on the field. Noone except for diehards in this area even cares at this point.

@@briannew6201 I know people within the organization. He had a temper problem and often yelled at staff and seemed to take his anger out on them. I wasn't just about not using the sabermetrics. Don't believe the golly gee shucks you hear from the soundbites.

I believe the fan base will be excited if we sell. We do not have a direction now. If we sell and rebuild at least that is a direction

If Marmol is fired, Mo should not be the one to pick the next manager. He's had his chance, he needs to go too. As far as next manager, Yadi needs to be it. AJ has talked about the how much Yadi ran things already, and he had a huge impact on so much more than just the pitching staff. Plus it would reinvigorate a fan base that is fed up with the way things have been going.

This is the kind of video that we should look back at later in the season. This team is better than they're playing. Front office and management are both terrible. If they never get it together, hat's off to you guys. If they turn this season around, you will hear it from me!

How about Randy Arozena, Aroldis Garcia, Zac Gallen, Sandy Alcantara who came through the Cardinals and Mozeliak unloaded?

Every team has those players. When traded they were still developing prospects. Well Garcia was 25. that's one old ass prospect. Gallen was in the Ozuna trade and was then traded to Arizona. So Miami wasn't sure either. This is hindsight commentary and is easy and not very impressive.

Cards have some pitching. They just don’t have any depth. If they had two more guys in the pen and could get Mikolas outta the rotation, they could be very good pitching wise That being said look at the birds offensive metrics on pitches down the blanking middle…they take more fastballs, hanging sliders over the middle of the plate than any team in baseball and opposing pitchers KNOW it. Goldy’s buddy, Turner Ward, needs to be fired.

Card fans will only lose their minds if the FO tries to sell them on a re-tool like last off-season. We all know the Cards arent a re-tool away from competing. We are trading away all of our home-grown talent either before they get a chance, or after we gave up on them and they go on to perform elsewhere, while also spending big money on bad contracts. The entire farm system and FO needs a multi-year overhaul.

If the Cards are going to sell, it won't happen for at least a month. There is no market right now. You need more teams wanting to buy. And that won't happen until more teams realize they have a shot. More buyers drive up the price.

The Cardinals are a lot like their hockey counterpart, the St. Louis Blues. They don’t rebuild, no matter what. I could see the Cards trying to retool on the fly (even though they’ve been kind of doing that already) for another season or two, before truly entering a traditional rebuild should they fail. They have some interesting pieces IMO, but this team is far from complete and truly at a crossroad. Will be interesting to see what they do

They are in a good position thanks to the deadline last year. The farm system was horrendous, and Mo did a phenomenal job restocking. Lot of trades teams would take back. They also have a lot of versatility in what they can do. If things continue like they are, you are trading the guys in their last year. You can move on from Arenado, sell high on Ryan Helsley, or hang on to them. Give Ryan the opportunity to become a starter (If he wants it, see Jordan Hicks) and he could prove to be extremely valuable. You could trade Wilson Contreras, or hang on to him. There's zero need for the Cardinals to completely sell off everything and do a complete rebuild though. They have a lot of promising young talent. The Cardinals failed last year and aren't up to expectations this year, but they are only failures by the standard they've set over the past 20 years. Even if they trade all the people I've mentioned, the future is extremely bright for them. I don't see them needing a rebuild unless things get far worse than they are now. If Walker is who the Cardinals think he is, and they can hit on some of the arms they traded for last deadline, they'd be a good young team with a lot of cap space heading into 2026.

Chaim Bloom was also an interesting addition this off-season. He was involved in a lot of the Cardinals off-season bullpen additions, and he's hit on nearly all of them. He also built up the Red Sox's farm system and can be credited mightily with their rotation. He seems like an obvious successor for Mo.

@@irvinglambert9316 I like your optimism, but I just don’t see this team getting the job done. The Cards, to me, are a purely MID team and aren’t going anywhere for the next 2-3 seasons. Their core will need some serious retooling, especially with Arenado and Goldy leaving. I could be wrong when all said and done.

Cardinals used to be the Rays of the NL with scouting. So I assumed most of their young guys would improve. But pretty much every single one has bottomed out. Im shocked, honestly.

The Cardinals don’t concede, though. Whether they should or shouldn’t sell is another story. They won’t do a big sell. Gibson and Lynn may go.

Cardinals have a lot of players that other teams want! Dodgers have had their eye 👁 👀 on Nolan Arenado for a long time ⌛️ ⏲️

Losing Contreras is devastating! That being said I still think the Cardinals have the roster to get back in it! They need Walker and Edman back! They need Goldy and Arenado to step up along with Gorman and Nootbaar. We have lost a lot of close games idk what that guy is talking about! They are just saying they are going to trade everyone for hot take clicks!!!
