We're entering the age of Artificial Intelligence. There has been a dramatic increase in the usage of chatbots such as ChatGPT and Bard built on Large Language Models (LLMs).
Satya Nadella from Microsoft and Sundar Pichai from Google are now in one of the most important battles in corporate history.

Your body language and communication skills are really good. You should do podcasts more often. I think that's your biggest competitive advantage for your startup taro.

until AI has some sort of internal feedback/validation system it will only spit out sentences which are statistically likely to be coherent. meaning that chat-gpt is not a direct competitor to search. this is because search uses text algorithms to find documents (the Page algorithm) while chat-gpt uses text algorithms to provide answers to questions (NLP). in my opinion, the search giants are investing in NLP systems like chat-gpt because it gives them more opportunity to answer unanswerable queries. I can see them building a for-you page but for search engines. You'll ask something stupid like "why am I feeling bad" and the AI will have enough context to provide an answer which you're most likely to confirm as true. Right now Google is pretty close to having this capability with it's FAQ feature, but it does this mostly through scraping pages that have already answered the question. On the other hand, AI will create answers out of thin air, but it doesn't guarantee they are correct answers. Just like how the first thing you find on Google is not always true. Regardless, I don't like how much we rely on search/ai because it puts a lot of pressure on the question "what is truth?"

How do you think chatGPT (and more so future improvements) will affect full-stack development roles, specifically for entry level and junior engineers. My concern is that a lot of the more human elements become more prominent with seniority, but obviously it takes time for people to get this experience.

I'm a final year electrical engineering student and for fun I put some physics questions from my class in chatGPT and it was close but got most of them wrong. Usually something small like not converting RMS voltage or some units, but sometimes the wrong formula would be used to

Chatgpt is terrible at math related stuff. Because it is not meant to do that.

Give it a few years. Even at the current level of intelligence ChatGPT is beyond of anything we would have predicted 2 years ago.

@@RahulPandeyrkp Diluting attention span is a problem. Fewer people are interested in reading answers. Unless AI can generate videos, I also think that improving text based search won't be enough

These advancements are definitely exciting and represents new opportunity, but overhyped AI is so common that we have a term for these cycles: AI Winter.

That's true, there are going to be tons of startups that try to ride the hype train of AI, and the vast majority will die. But, unlike crypto, there is fundamental value in the technology here: 100M active users on ChatGPT is proof.
@Vim_Tim
@Vim_Tim Жыл бұрын
@@RahulPandeyrkp im not so sure active users is the most reliable measure of value. Worlde peaked at ~2 million active users. The details of the Microsoft deal are probably a better estimate of value. Regardless, point taken.

It is not hype when I see a tech lead with 20yrs experience says that he nows uses ChatGPT to complete 80% of his coding. A veteran translator and language Professor concluded that ChatGPT can translate the meaning of Japanese syntax to English well. It is not a hype when an Artist found himself able to complete one job that typically requires a department of people. It is not a hype when you can use it to easily gather the specific data from multiple source. English language teacher using AI to create a lesson quickly.

I just played a game of rock paper scissor with ChatGPT and in her defense, if paper beast rock than paper is more powerful than rock. If scissor beats paper than it is more powerful than paper. So considering this scissor beats rock so clearly chatgpt is right 😂

I am actually sad to see the use of AI to fuel capitalism and its product. I don't want to criticize the work of scientists and engineers involved in this. But sadly, it would be end up in the hands of influentials and hurt the society as a whole. Satya Nadella says "our motive is to make the knowledge search better to increase productivity" which in English is "we want to make money out of people's curiosity". What is knowedge? What is truth? Why don't we invest in AI in the field of natural disaster predictions? We don't because capitalism never wants us to.
