As someone without a 'larger frame' I have no idea why I watched this but seeing it was very informative and very nice of you to help people avoid potential embarrassments while embarking on rides. Really cool concept. I had no idea they had 'test seats' at these parks but that also is a really great idea, for a number of shapes and sizes that may have trouble with a ride. Kudos!

Well, thanks for watching anyway! Yeah it's nice that it's available, but some people are very uncomfortable to try them still. Hopefully this helps people see that it doesn't have to be a big deal.

Thank you for making this video! The non-inclusiveness of rides sucks because many people save for years to be able to go to these theme parks just to find out they can’t ride some if, if not, most rides so this video is much appreciated! Hope you do this for the other theme parks too!

I'm not sure if it's fair to paint this as non-inclusive on the part of the park... if they made seats for thrill rides to accomodate larger than average bodies, those seats would not be safe for children or people who have smaller frames. Unfortunately, they need to cater to the majority
@penabirdie
@penabirdie 2 ай бұрын
@@laurad1753 You’re right, maybe non-inclusive isn’t the best word. Fair enough due to safety reasons that the parks have to take weight & size into account, but it still excludes multiple groups of people so that’s why I chose it. Would still be nice if they could maybe add a row of seats that can accommodate more body types or maybe have the measurements listed on their websites, at least, so people could find out before they spend the money on the trip (though they’d likely never do that

So I'm 315lbs and 5'3. I fit in stuff at my local six flags darien lake but unsure if that's even relevant to any of these rides 😅. For clothes. I don't do bulky stuff. I do bike shorts and some nice compressing shape wear. I know it's different for everyone but for myself, I find good quality shapewear to be nice and cool as well as giving me an extra couple inches to fit in rides.

You are so very welcome! I know that this is such a stressful topic and I'm so glad to hear that this has eased a little bit of that for you so that you can go into your upcoming trip without that feeling in the pit of your stomach. Also, I just got back a few hours ago from Universal again to finish up the test seats that I missed during our first trip. That video should be on the channel either this coming weekend OR early next week. I recommend checking that out too, especially if you're interested in Hulk, Jimmy Fallon, Ripsaw Falls and/or Rip Ride Rocket. We'll be going over those and wrapping up the discussion with some final thoughts. 😀

I gotta say as a 5’ 10” 290 male with experience not fitting on rides, you would fit on most rides. It’s the belly that gets you. The worst are coasters with over the shoulder restraints as the belly will not allow the bar to go down enough. I do appreciate you doing this video though.

This is great info! I'm a big guy at 6'2" and around 300 pounds. I'm very thick in the chest and shoulders. In my experience, it's more about chest size than waist size. The only ride I've tried at Universal that I didn't fit was Doom. The HP rides are tight, but I barely fit. Forbidden Journey is VERY tight on my chest, like dont breathe deep tight. I've rides nearly everything at Universal, with bo real issues. (Ripride amd Hulk being the 2 I've not riden) I will say that I didn't have any fitment issues at that "other" park, but who wants to go there.
@2foolishmortals
@2foolishmortals Ай бұрын
I agree, it's much less about the waist than Universal's guideline would have you believe. It would be a lot better if they would provide chest or hip measurements alongside the waist. I'm actually pretty surprised that they don't given the amount of detail they go into in their rider accessibility guide.

The restrictions are tighter than I thought. I wonder if they present them this way for CYA legal reasons (ex if they said 50” waist was the cutoff, and someone with a 45” waist couldn’t fit..) I wish there was a way to test your fit before committing to paying for admission (or to get a refund)?
@2foolishmortals
@2foolishmortals 5 ай бұрын
That's a good question! Probably. It's probably a CYA type of situation or at least a hand-off of responsibility to the guest who "should have done the research ahead of time". Either way, I don't appreciate that you have to buy a ticket. . . enter the park and THEN from there learn what you can and can't ride. I mean, I get that this is always going to be a possibility. . . but it's 10 out of 48 rides we are talking about here. In a perfect would, I would love to see test seats outside the ticketed area. . . like in CityWalk. It wouldn't even have to be all that complex or take up too much space; just put the least restrictive seat out there and say "if you can't pull this off you're not making any of these work". That isn't the best solution, I admit, but it at very leadt seems like a better alternative to paying all that money for admission without being able to ride.

An ECV can be a bit cumbersome, but it's really the best way to go in order to move yourself around without needing assistance and after a few days it's somewhat easy to get the hang of. In terms of knee scooters, they are for those with ankle injuries. They are designed to be an alternative to crutches. If you have an ankle injury, they can be a huge help, but they aren't going to be ideal for someone who isn't suffering from that type of injury.

A little off topic, but since you mentioned the lockers, I have a fanny pack that I use more like a cross body shoulder bag, would they require me to put it in a locker for these rides? or could I just strap it to my waist and be good.
@2foolishmortals
@2foolishmortals 5 ай бұрын
Hey! Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you. My understanding is that if you have a smaller wearable bag, like a fanny pack, and all of your items are secured inside you can wear it on most attractions. The exception is VelosiCoaster, Hulk and RipRide Rockit which require you to go through a metal detecter in order to get on. I say "my understanding" because I haven't done this personally yet. . . but I'm pretty confident that this is the case [through other research] and even went so far as to buy myself a fanny pack/belt bag that will help me avoid the lockers. So that's my answer to the best of my knowledge at this moment. 😊
