Join us as we take a shot at starting and driving Julie's Mach 1 Mustang after it has been parked in a pasture for years! The license plate tags are too faded to read, but we believe it has been sitting for at least 15 years, possible more!

Mam and sir, may i am inform you that you have a CLEVELAND engine! That is a boss of an engine right there. You do well to keep that car and everything on it like it was factory. It could be a gold mine one day. Oh wait, 1973 mach 1 mustang, it is a goldmine! Congratulations on your find. Happy motoring. Cragar daisy wheels up front with slot mags on the rear, really cool car.

Some people hate on the 71-73 Ponies, but I’ve loved the 73 Mustang ever since I saw Gone in 60 Seconds. I’m glad the algorithm chose to recommend this video. You’ve earned a subscriber, can’t wait to see where this goes. Creating content is hard, I tried making a video of installing a LS in my 67 C10 & the video want even worth editing. My hats off to the people that can. Y’all make it look easy & I can see your channel growing. Best of luck to y’all!

Yeah, Eleanor was a pretty sweet ride! I was born and raise a Chevy guy, but it seems like all I have any more are Fords. I am up for working on anything that is available and a decent deal. I appreciate you watching our videos. I have wanted to make videos for a long time, but have been nervous actually doing it. Julie has been encouraging me to go for it for a while now and I am glad we have. We have made some really bad stuff. Like you said, we have recorded some stuff that wasn't even worth editing. We still have a long way to go, but with practice I feel like the videos are getting better.

Those cats are Julie's babies for sure. The shop location is about a mile down the road from our house, so every evening she goes and locks the cats up in the shop so the coyotes or owls won't get them and every morning she lets them out to roam. They are pretty spoiled, be we love em!

@FlatlineGarage
@FlatlineGarage 4 ай бұрын
Man, we tried that, but we couldn’t get the tester to fit on a spark plug because the boot on the tester is a 90 degree boot and the exhaust manifolds restrict that area so much that we needed a straight boot to get back to the plug instead of the 90. I honestly didn’t realize she was touching the metal connection when I hit the button, but it sure made for some good video footage!

Yeah, that gas was nasty. I’m not really sure how long the car has been sitting, but it must have been sitting for along time. The grandson of the man who owned it told me they hauled it from Arizona to Oklahoma 10 or 12 years ago, but the license plate is from North Carolina. I’m not sure how long it was in Arizona before it came here. The tags on the plate are too faded to read the year it was last tagged. @@FlatlineGarage I love some BG music. Not much down here in south Alabama. Te band I played with for years is out of north GA, around the Blue Ridge area. I had one more question for you. After you got it cranked, did you check the transmission fluid on the stick again? It sounded a lot like it was low on fluid. FMX or C6?
@FlatlineGarage
@FlatlineGarage 3 ай бұрын
The door sticker says the car originally had a 302 with a C4 transmission. I am not sure if the transmission was swapped when the 351C was dropped in or if it will has a C4. I put all of the transmission fluid I had at the time in it and it was still low, so I do think most of our issues are fluid related. I am thinking this weekend I might make a video changing the transmission fluid and filter to see if that will fix her up.
@Rusty_Dents
@Rusty_Dents 3 ай бұрын
@@FlatlineGarage before you change it, add to the full mark with it running. A lot of people will tell you not to change the fluid and filter on an old transmission, unless you know it's been serviced regularly. I would get it to idle below 1K RPM before you drop it in gear too. Revving it as high as you did may have done a lot of damage that could have been resolved with fluid. Back in the late 1980's we used b&m trick shift if I remember right. On a transmission that would not move . Ran one bottle in transmission after letting it flush through trans . It worked really well. After about 20 miles it quit working . So we pulled out filter and replaced it. Trans was working like new. To bad motor chucked a rod around 6000 rpm. Good luck
