you got lucky, i decided to fix up my dads old generator,its a predator 5500 watt, it hadnt been started in over 10 years,and he left it stored with fuel in it, so my tank had rust in it, i used white vinager to desolve the rust and i ended up with some holes rusted through, so i had to buy a new fuel tank, i replaced the carb and it runs like a top

The filter is supposed to be oiled. The heat shield between the exhaust and powerhead Seems to be missing. Its possible it didn't have one if it was made cheap.

I have one of these I bought about 15-20 years ago. It has worked fine until last year. It wouldn't start removed the carb cleaned it put it all back together and it started. I test them every 3-4 months and run for 15-20 minutes, shut off the fuel valve and run until it stops. I did this last in April and now it won't start again without a squirt of started fluid in the air filter. It starts and runs for a minute or two and shuts down?
