I love model a’s. I own a 1930 ford model a Tudor sedan. I love it! We run it all year long. My grand children and I drive around in the winter while their in the back with tons of layers of blankets staying warm. Meanwhile I’m staying warm from the heat coming off of the engine. Anyways it runs like a dream. Have a wonderful rest of your day.

The way to start a model a cold is to pull the choke out briefly for like one or two revolutions and then let it go, always starts right when you release the choke. You can see it trying to do just that in the video!

I would give anything to own a car like that! I was born in 1968, but for some strange reason, these cars just draw me in, like a cop to a donut factory! Maybe I had one in my past life, LOL! But dammit I absolutely love cars from that era, there’s just something about the nostalgia that makes me feel like it belongs in my life. I have always driven a Ford, my first one being an 81’ 5 L Mustang, manual transmission, I loved that car, I handed it down through the family, and we still have it, I think one of my nephews drives it, but Ford made them to last forever, as long as you take care of them, they’ll outlive you! All kidding aside, I swear to God I must be from that era in the early 1900s, I’ve only ever sat in one before, but the second I got inside, it’s like I have been driving it my entire life, even though I’ve never been in one before, does that make any sense to anyone? It had already been fully restored, nobody ever told me how to drive it, and it’s a lot different than driving the cars made today, I just figured it out in seconds, took off, until my friend called me on my cell and told me to bring back his car! I didn’t want to, I wanted to drive it home and keep it, but unfortunately I couldn’t, there’s just no way in hell I could ever afford it, but it’s not from lack of trying, because I was cursed with some pretty shitty health, and I’ve had over 37 operations, thanks to intestinal cancer and Crohn’s disease, forcing me to go on permanent disability. Unfortunately car dealerships don’t give a crap about your sob story, but believe me I tried, but the guy took one look at me and said forget it. Oh well, at least I still have my friend, who promised I could drive it whenever I wanted to, but then the bugger left Toronto, and drove it all the way to Los Angeles! I thought he was nuts, but he actually did it, and the car made it with no problems. A 100-year-old car, driving from Toronto to Los Angeles direct, with not one breakdown. That tells you what kind of cars these were, I wouldn’t do that drive with a brand new Hyundai or Kia! (Sorry, no offence to anyone). So now if I want to drive it, I have to go to Los Angeles first, that’s kind of out of my way considering I live in downtown Toronto! Anyone know of any dealers in the Toronto area that sells these cars? I’ve got a nest egg, I’m saving specifically for one of those cars, just waiting for the right deal, but after watching your video you’ve inspired me, I have got to get my hands on one of these cars ASAP! Thanks for posting it! Happy motoring!

I have the same aftermarket carb you have. I can't find a name on it to look it up. But one thing is I have heard that they warp with the heat from the manifold. Mine is warped right where you first saw your gas seepage. I red necked it with silicone and it's just a temporary solution until I get around to getting another one. But I was going crazy trying to start it when I know it runs but it was hot when I got home. I think that was when it warped but after checking and rechecking everything for two days that what the problem was. Runs great now. But I saw a video where they put a heat shield below the distributor and above the carburetor.

Good work. The timing is way off and it sounds like the compression is really low. Possible head gasket issue. See my video for timing the Model A properly, and of course you can always drop me a email if you have questions on Model A's.
