When I sang in the church choir, if I had an issue for whatever reason with my voice I would just sing more softly. I'd do that if I wasn't sure of the song too, like if I hadn't been in practice and didn't know the song well. What if Peter were to sing very softly so he was barely heard and the other kids' voices rather drowned his voice out? It wouldn't mess up the recording and he'd still have a part in it. Later on when his voice improved he could sing with full voice.

Peter was right. Why let one person hold the whole group back. If they made anything of themselves, he could join once his voice stabilized.

Right? He even gave them an easy out by saying he'd sit this one out. I like the idea of still giving him his share of the profits.

Who wants to record a family song without a family member? That's just lousy and eventually will create bad blood.

Let's suppose one of them was a horrible singer to begin with. Would you still want him/her in the group? I have zero musical talent. I would not be upset at all if the musical members of my family excluded me. In fact, I'd consider it good judgment on their part.@@loveforeignaccents

If they're going to lose the money if they don't record at all, just be a good sibling and have him record it with you; it would be a great memory for years to come, get lots of laughs out of it when you're older... and I'm sure some people would buy it anyhow. Could have been kind of a Weird Al kind of thing.
