The crying is definitely not fake, the guy clearly had an emotional breakdown that night, and his head was not clear. We all relate to moments like this where ur not thinking right because ur very overwhelmed. He definitely wasn’t overwhelmed by the joke, but the joke combined with his wife’s reaction was the tipping point (also indication his marriage had a massive contribution to his stress that night) This isn’t a justification at all, but it is an explanation and a somewhat understandable one at that. Will Smith was one night away from truly immortalizing himself forever as one of the greatest actors of our generation. He had done everything been in everything gotten everything. Any and all his criticisms were mainly because of his parents and his children fucking up. Box office successes, critical acclaim you name it... No moment in your life, no matter how much you are overcome with emotion do you resort to violence. This moment for Will, whom I grew up with, makes excuses for what he did. The true mark of an actor is the ability to take and respect your fellow actors. His actions are abysmal and show a side of him that is not worthy for his accolades. As a survivor of physical, emotional and psychological abuse I find the fact he retains his Oscar a travesty to the people who have loved and respected the Academy.

This speech will live in infamy not just because he should not have been allowed to stay in the room and give it in the first place, plus it was utterly self indulgent with zero remorse, it was the crowd reaction.
