In this video I share my thoughts on who would buy Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram if Stellantis and CEO Carlos Tavares continue to ruin it and decide to sell it and who the likely buyer would be.

I never really liked Chrysler being merged with Mercedes(Daimler-Benz), and I wasn't happy when DB dumped them suddenly at all abruptly...HOWEVER...at least with that relationship, we got the Charger, Challenger, Magnum, and the Mercedes Sprinter to replace a much-outdated Dodge van...but with the Fiat/Stellantis setup, Chrysler hasn't gotten really anything positive at all from it...sabotaged by them, if you ask me..killing everything off and making stupid marketing/business decisions...an hideous-looking Fiat full size front wheel drive van, this hideous styled Hornet, and a bunch of Fiat cars nobody wanted to buy....

I am not a Dodge fan at all. But I watched someone explain why the Dodge V8's are being discontinued and the prices are high. Dodge is paying carbon credits to Tesla in order to make the V8 engines because they do not meet emissions standards. They cannot meet the stringent emissions standards and Dodge was forced to increase the prices because they are bleeding cash. That still doesn't explain to me why Jeep Wranglers are so over priced.
@WoodRumble

That's because Dodge is crap. The fact that they can't make a V8 to meet emissions standards yet Ford and Chevy are still pumping out V8s for the mustang and corvette...
@theunknownone5990

There were much better ways to fix the carbon credit situation than spitting on the core identity of their brand. They could have taken some time to develop a non-hemi V8 (call it the Magnum) that could get similar test scores to the Coyote or LS. Then either make them easy to tune, or get an aftermarket partnership similar to what Ford has with Shelby for the high performance versions, which would get around those requirements.

It’s a game of balance. ford and GM have other engines EV’s and hybrids to balance out their V8’s. They also dont base their identity around V8’s like Stellantis. This why the hornet exists because it helps bring down the average. They waited too long to do anything so now they’re scrambling.

GM does tend to recycle models, if they think the name could genrate a sale they might try some badging swap. It’s amazing how much turmoil Chrysler has been in over the years the only reason Dodge was as successful as it has been is because of the Daimler merger way back in 1998 the platform used to make a charger, Magnum and challenger is an old Mercedes platform & dodge stuffed big Hemmings into it. There really hasn’t been that much innovation in the Dodge lineup to be truthful. The only thing that’s worth a significant amount in their portfolio is the Jeep brand that is thoroughly being mismanaged due to high MSRP’s and trying to become an upscale brand.

The Collective Name for Chrysler, Dodge,Jeep, and RAM (formerly Dodge Trucks) , and legacy😊 brands Plymouth, DeSoto, and Imperial is THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION

The only way those brands can be saved is if the auto union buys complete control of those names and they get help from an investor with big pockets. The Chinese would make those brands even worse and I don't see them bringing the hemi back. At least if the auto union had control we know that they would promote not only American jobs but they would also promote sales in America meaning they would bring back vehicles and options that made those brands money like the hemi..

There will always be a market for Wranglers. The rest of the Jeep lineup won’t sell at their current MSRP. If priced reasonably they will sell too.

Wranglers have been priced beyond their market. 50k+ for a Sport hard top with power equipment, 60k+ for a Sahara. That is for a gas Jeep, the hybrids are about 8k+ more!!!
@larrys9879
@larrys9879 Ай бұрын
@@mikeodonnell5430 There was a time that I’d agree that Wranglers were overpriced but……The technology that goes into Wranglers now is a significant reason for the higher prices especially for the higher trim levels. Ironically, customers buy the higher priced trim levels but then never take them off road. Stellantis publicly stated their goal was to turn the Jeep brand into a luxury vehicle. They have clearly done that but nothing except Wranglers are selling. Stellantis has recently announced they are going to build a very basic Wrangler next year with none of the expensive technology currently in their higher trim levels. Estimated MSRP $25,000 range. Prototype looks very similar to the India produced “Thar” which is a basic knockoff version of the original Jeep Wrangler. I think I saw a prototype version on a TFL KZfaq. “If” that’s what they are going to build it should be a huge success.

This was FIATS plan from the go...this is why they spun off RAM as a separate brand. Marchionne 10yr plan was to do away with all cars and keep only Jeep & RAM. All cars were to be rebadged Alpha & FIATS. The new Charger is supposed to have an optional 550hp hurricane motor.

Daimler nearly starved the Chrysler brands (Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge) out of existence, unloaded them to a PE firm Cerburus in 07. Twisted in the wind until the bankruptcy/ acquisition by Fiat in 09. Ram was spun off because they felt the only 2 viable products were the Jeep brand, and the Dodge Ram trucks. They could kill Chrysler/Dodge quietly if needed and have the trucks carry on seamlessly. Fiat gave Dodge the freedom to build itself into an iconic performance brand, and Chrysler managed to sell enough minivans vans and 200's to keep going - at least until the "all new 200" turned into a disaster, and they priced the minivan out of the target market.

Im a dodge master tech and have been for a few years now. What im seeing on the garage side is absolutely heart breaking. Ive been a diehard mopar fan my whole life. I would not buy any new mopar products outside of the Ram 2500/3500 HD line. Only place the Hemi is staying. The quality of vehicles coming out of factories is absolutely terrible. The most awarded suv in the Grand Cherokee is one of the worst vehicles being made now. The hornet do not sell and when they sell them, theyvare usually broke. Have a 15 mile hornet that i am putting a new hybrid battery in already because it died sitting on the lot.

Yes, would definitely be ironic, especially considering the fact the DODGE brothers used to manufacture most of the components for FORD back in 1903-1913 and also owned a 10% stake of FORD up to 1919 until their unfortunate passing in 1920. The DODGE brothers played a significant role in helping Ford Motor Company become firmly established!

I thought you were going to talk about Auto Nation punting Stellantis from their product offerings and Stellantis's reshuffling of desired general managers to their other product stable? Hmm. The "what if" you haven't considered is what if no one chooses to buy Dodge, what then? Could Dodge go it alone? I'd love to know your thoughts on this!

It would require many Billion$ and 4 or more years to design and build new models, which would be EV's and hybrids. Few would make that investment with such a long potential ROE and such a high risk. Look at the struggle that Ford and GM are currently in. It just isn't going to happen, IMO. They have no assets or cash and an IPO would be very difficult. Ask yourself, how much money would you charge "The New Dodge" to borrow from your savings?

As a tech, seeing what Stealantis has done to my beloved cars is killing me. They fired all of our tech/engineer support and farmed it out to India. They "revamped" our service information and wire schematics that are needed to fix these cars and completely messed up the usable interface. Half the information is missing that used to be there. The schematics are no longer easy to use. Mechanics are a cranky bunch and now they just screwed up our only help line when their POS cars have some oddball issue and made finding any information on how to fix them more complicated to find. AND THEY CUT THE LABOR TIMES THAT THEY PAY US BY ABOUT 25%. We already were loosing money on warranty jobs and now they are about to loose many of their good technicians because we have had enough and are looking for better opportunities.
