Thanks for this video! We have similar curl patterns and I've been a bit wary of trying this method because of the amount of product. Judging by your next day results (thanks for including those!) I'll use less product but still try it out. Also, this is a weird comment but I really appreciate how well you enunciate and the speed at which you speak. I have auditory processing issues and it can be difficult to understand people sometimes but I was able to follow your video with ease. Looking forward to more videos from you in the future!

Cierra Frederick thank you so much, Cierra! I’m very glad to hear that and don’t find it weird at all 😊 Just to clarify since I forgot to in the video, the update was five days later and I had finally washed my hair again and was air drying. I still think it’s a great idea to use less product, I hope that will help you avoid the feeling that I ended up with!

Us fine haired wavies are a totally different beast and what works for curlies does not always work for us. I know if I did that method on my hair, which is severely fine, my curls would have gone limp very quickly. There is no way I would try that, but I enjoyed watching it on your video. I can't do deep conditions on my hair, or it is ruined until the next wash day. Too much moisture for my hair. Thanks much.

My only concern about experimenting with a lot of product is the cost. 😬 I'm nervous about spending too much! Less product = less frequent purchases. Also, your hair looks fabulous, and your voice is super sweet and soothing. Good qualities for a KZfaqr.

Mary Phebus I totally understand. The conditioner I used is $5 and the gel is $4, and the gel Laura used is only $1. You could also try VO5 or Suave conditioner which are each only about $1 a bottle, if you wanted to give it a shot. Also, I wouldn’t use this much conditioner again, but this was a helpful experiment for me and I wanted to share it to help others too! 😊 Thank you so much!!

Watching that much conditioner is blowing my mind (I usually just use a pea size amount of leave in or half that if I’m using curl cream). I felt brave today because I used at least a tablespoon of conditioner in my refresh today.

You’re so pretty. Gorgeous smile. Interesting to watch. I think of my hair as fine but not too fine- but u think compared to yours mine is even finer. I couldn’t use that much conditioner either and barely use leave in now (because like you, my hairs very healthy). I barely need any gel for a cast compared to that lol, so I wouldn’t gain anything by adding so much. But it’s always interesting to watch other techniques. Thanks for sharing. It also helped me realise how different my technique is to others. I like quick and easy plus effective. So I’m happy my hair fries with low heat and the diffuser in under 10 mins.

Kirsty Bonner thank you so much! This was fun to try out, but I also wouldn’t make this part of my normal routine. I do use quite a bit of gel normally, but I’m still trying to find how much is just the right amount without being too little or too much. I think it changes each wash haha I wish my hair dried that quickly normally!

That’s so interesting! I used a similar method to apply my products for my refresh today. I put a nice big blob of the garnier fructis 1min mask mixed in my water bottle and then I applied mousse and then a TON of LA blue gel. I plopped and then applied a few giant gobs of the mane choice alpha gel (for protein) and then topped with cake mousse. It’s so fun to try new things!

I have the same hair type, curl pattern, etc as you and I was like "girl, noooo" as you were putting it in all that conditioner and gel. But it turned out beautiful. I wasn't surprised when editing you popped into say it was too much after a few days though! Will definitely consider being a bit more heavy handed than I am now, but yeah I don't think I can go all the way on this one. It would definitely over moisturise my hair if I did it too the level you did and often. Thanks for the video, it was so informative and your daughter is gorgeous 💗

How would you refresh? Would you refresh everyday? My curls always die after 12 hours on my wash days. Even when I wear my satin cap to bed my curls don't liven up and I have to refresh everyday until I give up and wear it in a pony tail for 2 or 3 days until wash day.
@JordanFaith
@JordanFaith 3 жыл бұрын
Maria Palencia I would’ve washed again the next day if I could’ve, it was too much conditioner for me and just did not feel good. But I did have to wear it like this for a few days and I just fluffed my roots each day and smoothed down frizz with just water on my hands. In my normal routine I’ll sometimes refresh once between wash days with a little gel, but I’m still tweaking my refresh technique. My curl pattern is really loose so it does fall gradually as the days go on after wash day but it doesn’t bother me, I think it’s pretty normal 😊

Your hair turned out fabulous. It really, really looks so good. But in fairness, the Laura method videos that I have watched (and I am on her FB list as well) was not like what you did. First she Co-washed, did not use a clarifying shampoo. She did not put conditioner on and then rinse it out. No shower cap was ever used. When she puts on her conditioner, she puts on three doses. The rest was done like you did it, but the point of this method is to condition the dry hair most of us curlies have, and that means lots of conditioner left in the hair, so at any rate, your hair turned out awesome and that's great.

I’m totally new to CGM and watching this video has really opened my eyes! Is that how much gel I should be using?? I use a fraction of that amount!! Maybe that’s why my curls don’t form as much as yours?
@JordanFaith

Jackie O'Brien Welcome! I find I need to use way more gel than I originally thought. The conditioner amount in this video was too much for me but the gel didn’t cause me any issues. In my normal routine I usually use about three quarter sized amounts now, and I’m still experimenting with how much is the right amount. My hair never feels producty from my gel 😊

I have never seen anyone deep conditioning BEFORE regular conditioning?!? Doesn’t it wash away some of the beneficial properties that the deep conditioner just did? I was always told that deep conditioning was meant to be last in order to keep its conditioning results? It just seems counterproductive. The rest Im gonna try, your hair came out beautifully, and it’s not very different that what I already do. But I have to diffuse my roots first as they’re really frizzy if I don’t and then the ends that dried faster end up frizzy too from the humidity the wet/damp roots are causing.
@JordanFaith
@JordanFaith 3 жыл бұрын
NativeNYerChicHK I was testing Laura’s method and she uses the conditioner to style so that is why I followed a deep conditioner with regular conditioner. I don’t think conditioning after deep conditioning would wash away any benefits, but I do think that it would be redundant and possible lead to being over moisturized. Typically I clarify, deep condition, then move on to styling as normal. I like to diffuse my roots first too, but this method I was testing was just pixie diffusing 😊

Jordan Faith Yeah, your follow up was super helpful! I’m gonna try a modified version maybe. With doing what I know my hair responds well to but maybe a few tips from that Laura Method that I haven’t tried before. Can’t hurt, right?
