I work at a Stihl dealer and I gotta say, these are getting pretty popular, we still sell a fair amount of gas powered specially for contractors and landscapers but in general these AP300s batteries are selling HOT. Upfront cost is much higher, yes, you might need to invest in 2-3 batteries for professional work but on the other hand, much less maintenance, no spark plugs, filters, oils, and specially not a $300 short block if you work it hard lol

Nice couple of machines there. Currently have an old small corded strimmer but looking to upgrade soon. These are probably a bit above my budget and more machine than I really need though. Worth having good machines though as it makes the jobs easier and you’re more likely to enjoy using them. Enjoying the videos 👍🏻

Well it still have some weight unless you use a small battery but if you are not going in the field with at least the AP300S your cutting time is very short. I have try all batteries from AP200 to AP500S and most times I use the AP500S and weight of this one is about 2Kg.

The all issue are the batteries, Stihl not have batteries for this machine as well for the MSA300 chainsaw. For a day work out in the forest I with need a truck load of batteries.

PLEASEEE! Do a video on stihl battery and explanation, can the smallest hedge trimmer use a ap 500s? what battery is best to buy first? chargers? etc
@sirvozelo1

I have the batteries AP200, AP300, AP300S and AP500S. I have the BGA86, GTA26, 161T, MSA220C, MSA300 and the Trimmer FSA 135. Now in regard to batteries I can use any one of those batteries in any one of the machines I have, however I not use the AP500S on the 161T because the chainsaw with be heavier at same time I not use the AP200 on the FSA135 or in the MSA300 because I with have a very short battery time. Now you asking what battery is best to buy, it depends for what machine you talking about. If is for the trimmer 135 for example I with say AP500S or at least AP300S, but if is for the 161T I with say AP200. In regard to chargers don't even think twice and go with charger 500.

You can use the ap500s on any battery equipment, but because you mention on the smaller hedge trimmer, that ap500s might be unbalance on weight for that trimmer. In my case I use the ap500s on the HSA 94r in the backpack and not on the belt system (having both) but more comfortable inside the Stihl Ap backpack. And in the other trimmer, HSA56, that i dont use it often, I use either the AP300s or Ap200 only due to lighter weight.

@@Sigurd651 if you would see the ap300s how beaten looks 😂 you would wonder how the f is still working. I have it for like 6years or so, i dont even remember when i got it. 2018 i think it was. But ap500s its on another level, they had put new cells inside and have a 10year runtime from Stihl, and its not getting that hot as ap300s with old cells tech inside too. Ap300s after all these years, yesterday i had cut an hedge after 1.5hrs not even one bar on battery drained with the hsa94r on speed 3. (On speed 3 its the same power as HSA82r)

I used to think the same until my machinery supplier told me they sell professional contractors battery electric kit and that they're very happy with battery electric. I have since invested in a battery electric mower, hedge trimmer, leaf blower and flood lights and am super impressed with the kit - so light, powerful, easy to use and above all reliable. Mostly I use my kit daily. I wouldn't consider petrol machines now. Pleasantly surprised and impressed.

They are no way comparable to the petrol equivalent. The run time on them is not for long usage, unless you have a ££££'s worth of batteries. They seem to be pretty weak as well with the full power required for brushcutting would just kill the batteries quicker. I dread when petrol brushcutters are no longer for sale, same with the mowers. Thats the future🤷🏼🤦🏼. Good review though👍

With my kma 135 the battery range is ok with a blade but with nylon having more drag it’s bloody useless. In thick grass, I get 25 minutes max in with an ap500s ffs! I use my fs461cm which is far more powerful and convenient because I’m not constantly changing up batteries. However I’m not totally against battery powered tools the Milwaukee hedge cutters, hatchet saw, secateurs and pole saws are brilliant!
